Quinta Fonte do Cascalho is a charming detached villa set in 2 acres of grounds amid the tranquil Algarve hills; just 20 minutes north of Faro airport and 2 miles east of Sao Bras de Alportel, full of rustic charm with street cafes, restaurants, banks, tourist office, shops and supermarkets.
This is an ideal location for people who want to get away from it all and enjoy a relaxing holiday in total privacy or discover the ‘authentic’ Portugal of wide open space and sleepy villages, plus have easy access to all the holiday attractions the Algarve can offer.
Imagine yourself soaking up the Algarve sunshine, on the large pool terrace, you pick up a glass of your favourite drink, gaze over the wonderful countryside & distant sea views, and notice the only thing you can hear are birds and cicadas. You step into the large crystal clear pool for a refreshing dip and discover that feeling of peace and tranquillity. Finally; you have escaped modern life and feel relaxed and blissful.
Eco-tourism and Eco-fashion: Sao Bras de Alportel is situated in the Barrocal region of the Algarve comprising large open spaces, pure air and lush foliage of almond, fig, carob and cork trees; to which the region became the biggest cork producing centre in Portugal and the world. Today there are organized cork trails that take you through this beautiful countryside and a visit to the cork museum. In the centre of Sao Bras is the shop where you can purchase many eco-fashion items that are produced from cork such as purses, handbags, belts, shoes and even curtains, which you will find in the lounge of Quinta Fonte do Cascalho.
A Birdwatchers Paradise: ‘Quinta Fonte do Cascalho’ sits in a natural area that is a fantastic habitat for the birds that frequent the Algarve. In addition to the Swallows and Martins that share the pool with you, from the terrace you would see: Golden Oriole, Cattle Egret, White Stork, Black Stork, Bee Eater, Hoopoe, Azure-winged Magpie, Bluethroat, Fan-tailed Warbler, Cetti's Warbler, Melodious Warbler, Sardinian Warbler, Short-toed Treecreeper, Nuthatch, Southern Grey Shrike, Woodchat Shrike, Common Waxbill, Serin, Black-winged Kite, Black Kite, Red Kite, Griffon Vulture, Montagu's Harrier, Short-toed Eagle, Booted Eagle, Lesser Kestrel, Marsh Harrier, Spanish Imperial Eagle. Lawn Bowling: During the winter months, the Algarve is an ideal location for Lawn Bowling. There are numerous organized clubs scheduling regular games. Visiting players are very welcome to join in where clubs stock a full range of bowls for hire at a nominal charge. Tavira Bowls club, with an eight rink level green, is just a few minutes away from the villa.
In 2007 we decided to make our home available to holidaymakers and have subsequently met some wonderful people. Many have become good friends.
By living in the Algarve we are able to deal with all of our guests personally; from initial greeting to cleaning and maintenance, plus resolve the odd problem. Furthermore, we are able to continuously liaise with the local tourist office for the current and new attractions or activities available, throughout the Algarve, for our guests.
The views from the house are stunning and the feeling of total peace adds to the tranquillity of a great holiday home. From this location, there is easy access to all the attractions the Algarve can offer; making this the complete holiday package for a family, friends getaway or discerning golfers.
The area, in which we live, is a perfect environment for local wildlife and birds to which we have developed our birdwatching skills and love of nature. Based on this we are able to suggest other local areas for incredible birdwatching or sightseeing.
The location provides easy access to many excellent golf courses and through our local golfing contacts we are able to obtain excellent discounts on green fees and equipment hire.
