I work overseas but call Hampton my home and spend my summers in the area. I grew up in Newburyport, Massachusetts but enjoy the New Hampshire seacoast area for the many activities and easy access to both Boston and points north.

I know the area very well and have lived there with my family for several years. I know the best places to eat and can offer tips on where the locals go and what they do for fun.

Scott Whitmore purchased this house in 2010

The New Hampshire seacoast is the best place and a hidden gem and North Beach in Hampton is the place that combines both easy access to and from Route 95 with a quiet and peaceful beach so you can enjoy your vacation. It is also walking distance to Hampton beach so you can enjoy the bandstand, arcades and other attractions without getting stuck in the traffic. This house was built in 2004 by the original owner with attention to detail. It has an outdoor shower, backyard with deck and off-street parking. The yard is grass and one of the largest in the area. It is steps to the beach and has the marsh in the back. The house has two units that can be rented separately or together. The bottom unit is 4 bedrooms/1.5 baths with a full washer and dryer and the upstairs unit has a separate entrance with one bedroom, one bath, full kitchen, washer/dryer, roof deck with views of the ocean and marsh. There is also a separate office. I bought this as a retirement home to be enjoyed by my friends and family during the summer and fall. It is a large home with over 2500 square feet that is in excellent condition.

1 minute walk to North Beach, Hampton's best beach that doesn't attract the large tourist crowd so you can enjoy the beach in peace. Take a walk along the seawall or ride your bike to Rye or Portsmouth along the ocean path. Watch the sun rise in the morning and see it set over the marsh in the evening. This house has one of the largest grass lawns in the area with a deck in the back to enjoy a cocktail or glass of wine. Perfect for children. North Beach is great for surfing and boogie boarding and the house comes with several boogie boards. One of the best ice cream shops in New England is only a 5 minute drive away and I will provide renters with my insider's guide to the best pizza, seafood, bagels and attractions that you won't find in any guide.

This is a great property for a large family. There is plenty of space, the bedrooms are large and the kitchen is totally open to a large family room as well as the back deck. There is a gas grill and a full kitchen with all the necessary pots, pans, etc It is a quick, one block walk to the beach, although watch the tides, as you lose the entire beach at high tide twice a day. We still had pkenty of beach tome each day. The beach was really quiet and not over crowded. It was cool the week that we were there, which was ideal because the house does not have AC. Each bedroom has at least one fan, so it was comfortable to sleep. The house was clean. There were plenty of beach towels, sand toys. We needed a few extra beach chairs though. Overall, a great house!

Family vacation at the beach

We were ten from three generations of the family to enjoy a week at the beach. We found the owner available and helpful before during and after our stay. It was our first time and we had a lot of questions. We especially appreciated the easy payment system allowing us to use our credit cards and the owner's flexibility to let 3 different persons make the three payments.

The house itself worked well for us and didn't seem crowded at all. The kitchen equipment was adequat for the gang and the layout with three different areas on the ground floor (including the back porch) allowed for different small groups to do different things in peace, or to gather together for dinner and other things like a birthday. To our surprise we had zero problems with bathrooms and the outdoor shower, though in need of a minor repair, was greatly appreciated.

We enjoyed the beach every day even though the mid day high tides were not the best for sunbathing. The waves were perfect for the age of our grandchildren and we had to pull them from the water for other activities.

The Hampton area was most interesting, especially the drive up hiway 1A to Kittery (for shopping, of course!). The south beach was full of visitors because of the amazing sand sculpturing competition. We bought cooked lobsters for the gang at a very reasonable price from the fisherman's coop just across the bridge over the port after the s beach.

But nothing is perfect and we also experienced the difficulty mentioned in other reviews with dining as a gang because of the rickety main table.

We are currently in discussions about returning next year.

Owner's Response: Alex- Thank you for the review and for mentioning the issue with the outdoor shower and the dining room table. I will replace with something larger for sure as soon as I find something suitable and if you could send me an email about the issue with the shower that would be great so I can get it fixed.

We rented this house for 7 people and it is a great size for that number- could have used a little more furniture and a bigger dining table but we managed fine. The outdoor shower is awesome, the rooms and lot are large and spacious and the place was clean and tidy upon arriving. The kitchen could use a few more pots(we like to cook and eat in) and glasses and the roller shades were a bit tattered. The owner's insider tip summary was really helpful. The North Beach is a little tricky with the tides and the entire loss of beach each day but we got used to the schedule. All in all, a great place to stay!
