Wonderful Week at Villa Tymnessos

Andre and Cara Iver Heath, Buckinghamshire, United Kingdom
Review Submitted: November 4, 2009 Date of Stay: October 2009
Hi Sean and Morgan,

We absolutely loved our stay in your villa and Kalkan. The house was fantastic and a perfect setup for us and our kids, and just a short walk down the hill to the beautiful swimming cove at the Kulube/Free Beach. The pool and gardens are gorgeous and very well maintained. The groceries and bottle of wine waiting in the fridge for us when we arrived after a long trip from the UK were very welcome. Sitting on the roof terrace, sipping a cocktail and watching the sun go down over Kalamar Bay was one of those pleasurable experiences which will live on in our memories forever. The town is great as well; a nice size with a weekly market(Thursday) and a good selection of shops and restaurants. Not too touristy. We must recommend a shop called Tufanlar for beautiful locally made cotton clothing, and Restaurant Doyum(on the main street very close to the PTT-Post Office). The food was fantastic and the staff; especially Hasan, went out of their way to make us feel welcome This was my fourth trip to Turkey and most definitely the best yet. We are very strongly considering returning next October for another visit.

Happy Days in Kalamar Bay

Review Submitted: June 11, 2009 Date of Stay: May 2009
Dear Sean and Morgan, We would like to thank you for the use of your wonderful villa. Your communications were good making arrangments a lot easier. Many thanks for installing the safe for peace of mind. We took our children Charlie (8 yrs old) and Rebecca (5 yrs old) and they enjoyed the pool very much and the kids TV channels kept them amused for quite a while. The villa was very clean and spacious and the welcome pack was much appreciated, especially the two cans of Efes beer! My wife and I enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere each evening on the terrace watching the sunset once the children were put to bed. The walk to Kalkan takes around 15 mins going down and 20 mins coming back up. Not too strenuous. Generally we walked down and got a taxi back at a cost of between 7 and 10 TL. We had a few meals at Mustafa's "Cafe Vita" 5 mins walk from the villa. The menu and prices are good and they make the "Best Chips in the World". Mustafa was very helpful especially when we hired a car for 8 days. In Kalkan we had excellent food and service in the Aubergine, Ali Baba, Jasmine and Doy Doy restaurants. Doy Doy was our favourite, great view of the harbour, reasonably priced, excellent food and free wrist bracelets when leaving. Aubergine restaurant was the most expensive. I lost my passport in Kalkan and I went to the local council offices who made an announcement over the town tannoy system immediately. I then went to the Jandarma who told me it had been handed in. Thank you to the anonymous Good Samaritan. We hired a car and visited Saklikent Gorge, Patara beach, Kekova and Kas. Although we had great days out it was always a pleasure to return to the villa for a dip in the pool and to relax on the sunbeds or on the roof terrace. A new general store has just opened next to Cafe Vita. A good place to get provisions in. The villa kitchen was well stocked with equipment and we enjoyed many good meals. Although the villa looks down on a number of surrounding villas, we could not believe how quiet it was. Each day the garden was watered and the pool cleaned . Hamza from Kalkan Property Services arranged our transfer from and to Dalaman Airport which went without a hitch. The only criticism we have is the fact that the villa has no telephone so any guests would have to rely on mobile phones. We would have no problem recommending the villa to our friends and hopefully will return for future holidays. Kind regards, Derek, Clair, Charlie and Rebecca

Two Weeks in Paradise

Tom and Pat Wilmington, NC
Review Submitted: June 4, 2009 Date of Stay: May 2009
We recently spent 2 weeks in Paradise at Villa Tymnessos! What a lovely home! There were 7 of us, including a baby. We all had wonderful accommodations, with plenty of personal space. We all awoke to breathtaking views every day and enjoyed wonderful breezes while we had our morning coffees on our balconies. The blue mist over the Med in the morning is just amazing. The private pool and the lush flowers and shrubs create a most tranquil space. The villa was just a short drive or walk down to the village. Such friendly merchants and great shops. We thoroughly enjoyed Kalkan's many restaurants, with their wonderful views of the harbor and Kalkan Bay. Such a relaxing atmosphere. We really felt like we were on vacation, no hurrying or scurrying, and did not want to go home.
We hope to be return every year. We thought that living in the southern US was relaxing, until we discovered Villa Tymnessos and Kalkan!

A wonderful stay

Landcruiser Doha, Qatar
Review Submitted: April 29, 2009 Date of Stay: April 2009
My husband and I stayed at Villa Tymnessos for seven nights in early April and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The villa was lovely with spectacular views of Kalamar Bay. It was very well maintained and had all the comforts of home. Unfortunately the weather was a bit cold so we didn't try out the swimming pool but it did look inviting! We enjoyed meandering through the streets of Kalkan and had several good meals at local restaurants including Cafe Vita, Jasmine Cafe, and Ali Baba. We rented a car for two days and had a great time exploring the surrounding countryside. Highlights included Patara Beach and the nearby ruins, Fethiye and its Tuesday market, Kas and the nearby Antiphellos, and Saklikent Gorge.
We highly recommend Villa Tymnessos and this beautiful area of Turkey.

Fantastic Time

Review Submitted: October 25, 2008 Date of Stay: June 2008
Dear Sean and Morgan,

We had a fantastic time and really loved your villa. We thought the villa was in a wonderful position and beautifully fitted out. You had thought of everything!

Although Kalkan has changed a lot in terms of the building we found the people as friendly as ever.

Hamza was a star. Nothing was too much trouble and he pointed us in the right direction for trips, etc. We loved the Café Vita too!

Thank you for letting us borrow Villa Tymnessos, it was a great holiday and we would love to return one day.

A great break....

Villa Tymnessos is the perfect base for a quiet, relaxing holiday. It is beautifully and comfortably furnished and every balcony has a stunning view.

The kitchen is well equipped so that cooking is simple. The adjoining balcony meant that we could enjoy dinner and watch the sun setting.

Tymnessos is a relatively easy (there are short but steep uphill stretches) walk from Kalkan, a friendly, buzzing centre with excellent restaurants.

Thoroughly recommended....

We had a fantastic time at Villa Tymnessos. With two young children and three other friends who stayed with us it was the perfect place to have a relaxing holiday. Great views, the beach clubs are great and the locals are really friendly. We would recommend a hire car as the surronding area is quite steep, however cars can be got in town and are cheap. If you need help with anything, including a hire car or even just a good feed Mustafa at Cafe Vita is your man. Book it and you wont regret it

Villa Tmnessos - September 2008

Kervs UK
Review Submitted: October 18, 2008 Date of Stay: September 2008
This was the ideal holiday for us. We like a private villa with a pool with a good degree of privacy in a peaceful location, but a short walk away from a bit of life and some good eating places in the evening. We went away for two lazy weeks with just the odd sight seeing trip planned, but ended up lazing around the pool for two weeks with walks into town every day and visits to the local market, a very relaxing holiday.
There are some very good quality restaurants in Kalkan at reasonable prices, we can especially recommend 'Coast' and 'Doi Doi' but watch out for the flaming steak at Coast, it would never be allowed in England under current health and safety regulations. Under no circumstances eat at ‘The Brother of Omar Sharif’s Place’ – he isn’t the brother of Omar Sharif, he can’t cook and it’s a ten minute walk of rough ground to the toilets!
The description of the villa was very accurate, there are no end of balconies and patios on which to sit and/or sunbathe, and inside the furnishings are of a very high standard for holiday accommodation.
The walk into Kalkan is basically down hill but you have to go up some hills to go down others, if you are not fit when you go you will be when you get back, but there are of course taxis which are quite cheap, although we always chose to walk in and out of town.
We found the people of Kalkan very friendly, they will always leave you with a smile and friendly word even you turn down the opportunity of eating at their restaurant, when we told one bar owner that we liked the music he made a copy and gave it to us.
All in all a most enjoyable holiday
