A two family stay in June 2010
My family of 5 (3 boys, aged 16, 14 and 7) and another family of 4 (boys 17 and 9, girl 12) rented La Grange for a week at the start of July. We had a great time. The accomodation was clean, spacious and well equipped. The biggest TV we've ever seen and very handy to take a break from the mid-day sun for the Wii players in our group. Also when the teenagers wanted an in-house cinema late in the evening. The kitchen was ideal for preparing meals (we have nut allergies and usually cook rather than dine out) for a large group. Every appliance and good freezer and fridge space. The outside table with its surrounding gazebo option made a smashing spot to eat, We never ate indoors. also a good venue for board games etc. The gardens were enormous but the sun was too hot for us to take full advantage. But then the pool came in very handy. Other families also stayed in the other gites but we didn't feel crowded at the pool. It was very refreshing and the kids really enjoyed the seclusion of it and its close vacinity. The village is quite close but again the heat would restrict your walking. The local supermarket was only 10 mins away by car on easy roads and was well stocked and priced.
The area is full of attractions and we visited Futurescope and Adventure Forest (within 60 mins). Going early in the season meant we did not experience any queues but its clear that some places do get busy. We were happy to relax by the pool most days. The local park ran a canoe trip and that was another afternoon gone.
Jennifer and Alistair met us and provided all the info needed but left us alone after that. They obviously work hard at making everyones stay a pleasant one. The fans in the bedrooms are an example of their attention to detail.
I would recommend the rental to my friends and if we return to the Loire would stay again.
