The house was perfect, the wife and I had a great vacation, the caretakers did a great job Sergio and Sandra took care of our needs and did answer every question, Monty and Pepita thank you for everything.

We visited our daughter who is living in El Salvador and we wanted to find a quiet private family get- a- way spot.....this place fit the bill! Beautiful, quiet, and the grounds are immaculate! We needed to provide our own groceries but found two good grocery stores in La Libertad...we had rented a car which really helped to get around.....don't miss the experience of the fish market! My daughters especially loved surfing with Johnathon! We really felt safe, too, especially under the watchful eye of Fokie, the guard dog! The home is right on the oceans edge and we could hear the calming sounds of the waves all night! The hammock was my favourtie spot! Thank you to the owners for sharing your home!

This house is very comfortable. The upstairs has a terrific deck with a stunning view, hammock and chairs. The ocean is incredibly warm and the swimming, boogie boarding and surfing are terrific. You can rent equipment at the hotel next door-- which also has a good restaurant. This beach, with is easy swells and sandy bottom is a great place to learn to surf. There is a casita on the grounds of the house where the property caretaker lives. The gardens are beautiful.

Step onto the property and you feel as though you have been transported to a tropical oasis! It is too perfect it almost does not seem real. The grounds are meticulously kept from inside and out. The staff are so wonderful. The weather was fabulous and it was a relaxing vacation. We are east coasters so we were very humbled but the waves we were met with, but this retreat is more than just for surfing. There is not a soul on the beach so it was so relaxing to read, meditate and escape life's every day chaos.

The owners were very involved with triaging all questions and most important the most romantic wedding proposal ever!! They worked collaboratively with their property manager to make it all happen. I am so gateful to all the people involved and it was an amazing surprise!!! I will never forget my time in El Salvador. The people are so nice and helpful, despite our high school level spanish speaking abilities. My one recommendation is brush up on Rosetta Stone before you go!! The American dollar goes far but you want to tip generously because these folks work very hard to accomodate all your requests. My "newly fiancee'" and I will be returning again in the future with our kids!! Thanks again Pepper, Monty, Linda, Sergio and Sylvia for a STELLAR VACATION.

Many variables played into us having one of the greatest trips we have ever had.
We spent just over a week here & thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. 4 adults ( 2 guys and 2 chicks) in our early 30's looking for a get away w/ some privacy versus staying at a resort/hotel. We found La Joya to be a great pick & Pepper & Monty were very responsive to our questions prior to booking & prior to arriving. The house is great, clean & safe & the pool & the grounds are in immaculate condition. Sergio & Sandra (groundskeeper and housekeeper) did a fabulous job & we greatly enjoyed the opportunity to engage them about the area & they were more than happy to help & provided excellent service on behalf of Monty & Pepper. They would've stayed practically behind the scenes/invisible had we not engaged them, the family respected privacy. We felt safe the entire trip here. There were restaurants next door & down a few houses. Punta Roca Restaurant next door was our favorite as the staff was great. The kitchen at the house afforded us the opportunity to cook our own meals & stock up on necessities from the nice grocery store in town.

The surf was great our entire trip as well. We surfed from Punta Roca/La Paz & hit everything b/t there & K59. The longest it took to drive (we rented a car) was to K59... 30 minutes. Punta Roca/grocery store/ATM/restaurants area of Libertad was no more than 15 minutes down the road. The pool was a great place to relax between your morning and afternoon/evening sessions.

For as much flack as Central America gets about its roads, i was quite impressed...don't get me wrong, pot holes abound, but for the most part, moving from the airport (SAL) to the house is a non-issue and directions are easy. We all would highly recommend the house and hope to come back soon.

And I cant forget to mention....the dog. He did a great job pulling security throughout the days & nights, sleeping on the stairs or the base of the stairs of the house & would bark if alarmed. "Fockey" (Foe-key) could use a flea collar for ticks, so if you end up coming here, pack 1-2, maybe a bone. He deserves it. He loved the dog food we got from the grocery store & appreciates fresh water a few times a day. He was loyal and very friendly and as previously mentioned, will follow you where ever you allow him to.

Nothing we could say negative about the house, the owners, groundskeeper & housekeeper (and kids). or any of the "buena gente" from El Salvador.

Wow what a place! All around the most hospitable down to earth relaxation goes on in this place. Sergio, the care taker and his family are the nicest and coolest imagineable! Surf is pumping, crowd is minor and right in front of your own safe home! Beds, hammocks, pool are all great! Entire scene is heaven basically! Restaraunt is great next door which is extremely convenient too. You can't go wrong here!

The only thing wrong with this place is you won't want to ever leave. The sickest right point is in your front yard, the backyard is a tropical paradise. All your buddies fit comfortably in beds, hammocks, or sofas. You have everything you need, outdoor showers indoor showers, pool that lights up at night with a waterfall off the bridge and a dog named fookie. If you need anything else just ask Sergio or Linda they will take care of anything you need. The neighborhood is super safe right next to the famous punta roca hotel where you can get great food and drinks all day, and if your lucky maybe some hot chicks.

Absolutely perfect location for relaxing beach vacation or surf trip. The grounds of the house are immaculately kept, hardly a blade of grass out of place, it felt like a jungle oasis. The sunset every night for the deck overlooking the ocean was amazing. The beach out in front of the house was practically empty every day we were there and the groundskeepers dog will loyally accompany you on your walks! We spent the afternoons in the hammock reading, in the pool hanging out, or on the patio playing cards. The fans & AC kept everyone sleeping comfortably. There is a world class surf out front and few minutes drive in either direction.I would highly recommend any one go to El Salvador to stay here. From surfers to couples to families, this place is perfect for everyone!!
