Loved out stay here on IOP. We came to IOP to attend a wedding right on the island. Found this unit on VRBO and am so glad we booked our 3 nights here. This is Gary and Lena’s home in a residential area. You will be renting their pool/guest house which is separate from the main house. We parked our car in their garage and walked up about a dozen steps to the pool deck and the door to the guest quarters. Lena and Gary were there to greet us soon after our arrival and were available to answer any questions. This is not a B&B. In fact, we never saw Lena or Gary after we checked in. They can be reached by phone, however, if you have a question. There is no daily cleaning service or sprucing up. If you use glasses or cups you should clean up after yourself. There is a tiny kitchenette and a full size refrigerator. Perfect for the two of us. Not sure I’d want to actually prepare a meal here. As others have mentioned the use of the golf cart is great fun and a lifesaver for going to the beach. You can drive and park the golf cart on the beach access path near the dunes and walk out to the beach. We also took the golf cart one evening to visit other friends who were staying on the IOP though you’ll have to be mindful that the cart does not have lights for driving in the dark. After a long day of sightseeing in Charleston I actually took a dip in the pool…in October! We enjoyed sitting out on the patio pool deck with a glass of wine or morning coffee. The guest house is quite clean and spacious. We enjoyed the décor. Photos on VRBO are accurate, but the bed linens have been changed. I actually prefer the new linens. Bathroom is large, too. We did not use the hot tub, so cannot speak to that aspect of the property. One reviewer did mention that he could hear the ocean from the deck. I’m not sure about that, this home is a good block and a half away. Be sure to get instructions on the use of the TV. We had difficulty figuring out the various remotes. While on IOP we drove to the adjacent Sullivan’s Island and enjoyed lunch at Poe’s. There were a few other restaurants all in the same spot on Sullivan’s island from which to pick. Because of the wedding our evening meals were taken care of, but I would say that our impression of IOP nightlife in October was pretty quiet. In sum, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and would heartily recommend it to others. Thanks for the gift of the wine!
