Absolute Gem

Just returned from a weeks holiday in this house and it's an absolute gem. There is plenty of space inside and out. There is a very practical back yard with washing machine & loads of space to dry things. The front court is lovely with a table, chairs & parasol for al fresco dining.
The living room is very comfortable, with air con for when it gets too warm and the kitchen is well equipped and has a great space for eating on the nights you don't want to go out!
Upstairs in the house there are 2 good size bedrooms with loads of storage and a good size bathroom too.
The roof terrace is, of course, the piece de resistance of the house with superb views and space to sunbathe in private. You also have the pool straight across the road and as we were there at a quieter time we pretty much had that to ourselves - bliss. For anyone who loves the beach there is Lo Pagan on the Mar Menor which is shallow & calm or the med beaches across the Salinas.

On the days/nights when you do want to go out there are plenty of options, Lo Pagan & San Pedro have some great restaurants if you are on foot and if you have a car then Torre de la Horadada 5 mins along the med coast offers great choice too and an ice cream parlour above the marina which does fantastic lemon Granizadas! (there's also a couple of lovely beaches on this stretch).
Would also highly recommend the market (behind the town hall) in San Pedro on Monday for fresh fruit & veg - amazing selection - and register for the free use of bicycles which you can pick up next to the Salinas visitor centre (once you have registered at the Town hall!) use them to cycle all along the coast and across the Salinas paths to the far side & the med coast.
All in all a great house in a great location, nice and quiet with little traffic but plenty of amenities in very easy reach. The house was lovely & clean and well equipped. Especially loved it that everyone got 2 large towels each and there were hand towels in the bathrooms (so often you only get a small one each!!)
I would definitely recommend this house to anyone!

Owner's Response: What a lovely review!
Cycling is a fantastic way of exploring the local area especially as it is very flat and there are plenty of cycle paths. Thanks for the tip of registering for free bicycle hire.

Excellent value and good location

We arrived via Taxi from Murcia airport (only a 10 minute ride away and £21 Euros) at around midday.

The cottage was clean and tidy and had everything that we would expect from a home from home. My other half was very impressed that they had all the english channels on TV!

Whilst we were there the tempratures were at a staggering high for the time of year, reaching about 28 - 30 degrees every day. This was fabulous for us, but not so nice for our 11 month old daughter who slept in the room without air conditioning.

The supermarkets and beaches are very accessible and the neighbours were all very welcoming.

There are a couple of bars close by and the local beers are very cheap.

All in all a really good holiday and coming from someone who normally enjoys 5* Holidays, I'd say definitely worth a visit.

A good base for a family holiday

Due to some of the worst weather for years we only stayed for a couple of days.

Paella Cottage is a terraced villa in a quiet area. There is a swimming pool across the road for use by the occupants, which looked very nice and quite private. Not too far from beaches. Cycle hire is available locally.

There are plenty of supermarkets a short drive away to stock up on provisions.

Just around the corner from Paella Cottage, if you bypass the typical ''english bar'' we found a superb restaurant called Sal y Pimiento (Salt & Pepper) that we can heartily recommend. Excellent service with inexpensive, top notch food. They serve breakfasts, lunches & evening meals. This restaurant is a only couple of hundred yards away from Paella cottage.

I would recommend this cottage for young families wanting a sunshine holiday near the sea. A car is a requirement as there are no shops within walking distance now. There is a children's play area at the other end of the road from Paella Cottage, which would be a boon for the younger family on holiday.

For us, a working hair dryer with a Spanish plug would have been really useful.

We stayed here for a week in September and were absolutely delighted with this place. The cottage is situated on a quiet street with plenty of parking and it's own pool just over the road. The house is very spacious and the roof terrace is perfect for a nap in the sun!
San Pedro and Lo Pagan are both within walking distance and there is plenty to do through the day and on an evening in these real Spanish towns. The square in San Pedro serves the nicest tapas I have ever eaten in Spain.
Thanks to the owners who allowed us to book within 48 hours of travelling as we were let down by the person we had originally booked an apartment with. They saved our holiday at the last minute!

Great place to stay

A lovely, spacious 2 bedroom townhouse with a great roof terrace. Loads of room inside the house and it's in a quiet residential street.

We stayed in the house for 2 weeks in August - peak time really, yet we almost had the swimming pool to ourselves! It's so convenient having a private pool literally across the road, especially if you get a little warm sunbathing on the spacious roof terrace.

The house is very well situated. It's on a quiet street as stated, yet is within walking distance of everything you need. There's a local shop/Bakery just round the corner, and then the San Pedro town (circa 1km away) has a choice of 2 large Supermarkets as well as a number of restaurants, bars, cafes etc. The beaches are a similar distance away - a choice of either the beaches on the Med at Las Salinas (circa 1 mile) or the Mar Menor at Lo Pagan (again, circa 1 mile). Both are very easy walks, but both have car parking should you wish to drive instead.

Lo Pagan is like a little seaside resort really, with beachside bars and restaurants. The beaches on the Med are more remote and have less facilities, but both are great - the water is clean, shallow and warm. So ideal for kids.

The port at Las Salinas is also worth a visit - a good walk this (maybe 2 miles) but again ample car parking.

All in all the property is a great base to explore the area. You're far enough away from the main road and the hussle and bussle of town to have lots of peace and quiet, yet you're close enough to walk to everything (should you not mind doing 2-3 miles walking a day). Car hire may therefore be advantageous (and give you more options re additional attractions to visit) but it's certainly not necessary. Depends entirely on the type of holiday you want.

Overall an excellent holiday in a lovely property. The only slight thing I'd change is if travelling with young children (as we were) there's no high chair so meal times were slightly problematic. But there is a travel cot. I would recommend the property for families with small children however, as everything is there fot them to have a great time.

Owner's Response: We will definately look into providing a highchair in the future - although there are companies nearby that you can rent baby equipment from.

Have just retunred from a short winter break at this property - it is a lovely townhouse very clean and well maintained. It is very spacious and has many outside areas to enable you to follow the sun all day. The property is located near the nature area and is ideal for walking or using a bike. The property is located outside of the main area but is near enough to go into without having all the noise on your doorstep. Ideal for a quiet break.

Owner's Response: Yes, Paella Cottage is ideal for a holiday all year round.

Paella Cottage San Pedro del Pinatar

This is a three storey terraced house located in a quiet street just off the coast road from San Pedro to Lo Pagan. It provides an excellent standard of holiday accommodation being clean and very well presented. On the ground floor the large, well-equipped kitchen /diner is ideal for preparing meals if like us you can’t be bothered to go out to eat! The 2 bedrooms on the second floor are a good size, one has a double bed the other two singles and both have plenty of wardrobe space. The front bedroom has a small balcony, which is nice. Up another floor is the best feature of this house, the solarium. It is brilliant for private sunbathing and the view to the sea over the nature reserve is really good, the house faces east so the morning sunrise is a real treat.
Murcia San Javier airport is the nearest –only a 20 minute drive along a fairly quiet motorway so no hassle there, and there is a good choice of car rentals at the airport.

Regarding local shops, there is a British convenience store 200m from the house, and two supermarkets in San Pedro town about 20minutes walk. There is a big shopping complex near the motorway between the airport and San Pedro (about 15 minutes drive)

The area is really nice being quiet. The nearest beach access is about a 20minute walk along a properly made footpath alongside the nearby road to San Pedro Marina. This is a quiet beach with white sand that goes for miles, but less than a 10 minute car ride further up the coast there is large car park giving access to the beach with good facilities. A ride to Lo Pagan about 2miles further down the coast road takes you to the Mar Menor beach and lots of restaurants, more beach bars and some gift shops, this area is really good for children, because the Mar Menor is very shallow.

All in all I would thoroughly recommend this area and staying in Paella Cottage for a a very relaxing Spanish Holiday – Benidorm it definitely is not!

Owner's Response: Thank you very much for the positive comments. As highlighted, the area has plenty of facilities without being over crowded.
