We will be closed for construction during the winter months. The Gables is centrally located on the Coast with San Francisco one hour's drive, and Monterey, Carmel about two hours away. The house is unique in that you can enjoy a primeval redwood forest, a countryside of rolling hills, and the Pacific Ocean, all within minutes of the house. The Gables is a large 3 bedroom home beautifully furnished, with wood burning stove in the fireplace, located in the famed redwood Butano Canyon. The trees come right up to the windows. The quaint town of Pescadero is ten minutes down the road where there is dining, shopping and a meeting place for mountain bikers. Within the redwoods are many trails for hikers with scenic streams and waterfalls. The spectacular beaches of the Pacific Ocean are only 20 minutes down the road. The famous Monterey Aquarium is only about 2 hours south. An unforgettable getaway experience.
The house is beautifully furnished with leather sofas, wicker chairs, and a few antiques. The Kitchen has an AGA professional six-burner stove, large refrigerator, and lots of room for cooking, but we have no cabinets yet.
*Please note, we do have a three night minimum stay policy; no exceptions. Also, the house is on a slight hill and may be difficult to access for those with disabilities.
Also the entrance to the Butano Canyon community has a gate. Without it we would be inundated with tourists, cyclists, Sunday drivers, etc. We are a quiet community with great respect for everyone's personal enjoyment of the redwoods.

I grew up in Albany, California, but left for big city life. For 25 years I lived in New York City, in a Brooklyn brownstone, and worked as an editor in artbook publishing. At the same time, I ran a B&B in East Hampton Village on the weekends. People who stay in B&Bs are the nicest people I have ever met. I am dedicated to giving them the best experience.
Why the redwoods? They are so awesome; here you are nature's guest. But I'm a Pisces; I need water. So I am also close to the ocean. A perfect location and a great house. The bedrooms are the best; the forest is right at your window.
I think location is the best benefit. You are within two hours of some of the most spectacular California experiences and scenery, from San Francisco to Santa Cruz to Monterey. Can't beat it for hiking, touring, relaxing, playing. You return to a cozy house nestled in the woods far from traffic and and the need to watch CNN, although television and Internet are provided.
