It felt like home after a few days

My family stayed here with other family members for a wedding in October. The home was nicely laid out with great light and a comfortable atmosphere, especially in the places that matter most, the living and dining areas and the kitchen. It was a great place to relax and the views from the deck were beautiful at this time of year. My biggest compliment is that the kitchen had everything. I've been to so many vacation rentals that were poorly equipped; they always seem to fall short on something that you need to cook or serve a decent meal, but this one blew me away. It had anything that you would need to cook a meal and more. Finally, a place with a good set of sharp knives, a proper selection of cookware and tools...there was even a stand mixer. For people renting a home or apartment and want to cook in rather than dine out, this home will not disappoint. The home was well maintained, everything was in working order and the bedding was nice. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Well done.

Excellent Summer Vacation!!

We try to find a location every summer suitable for our two families; four adults and five kiddos under 8 years old. This year we found the perfect spot! The home was amazing! They had everything necessary to make us feel right at home yet far enough away! We had plenty of room to lounge, have dinners together, kids could play without being on top of eachother and a great spot to roast marshmellows! Our weather was perfect the first few days, so we took advantage of the beaches and pools then, unfortunatly it got a bit gloomy. We headed out for shopping, wine tasting, bike rides, a Harbor Springs tour of the bay and then stayed tucked in for beverages, euchre and gaming! We're not skiers, so the lift ride was a great highlight for us. The views are spectacular. Take advantage of all the the freebies at the highlands too; bon fire, music, movies, arcade, plenty of mountain roads for excersize, but be careful with little ones on bikes! The home management is great too! We were out of propane and they hurried over to replace the tank. This would be a great pick familes or a group of adults anytime of the year. We look forward to our next trip!

Family Reunion

This was a great location for a summer vacation. So much to do in the area; hiking, biking, golf, beach, zip line, swimming pool, near Mackinaw Island, etc, etc. The house was perfect for 10 people, good kitchen facilities, nice bedrooms with plenty of baths, nice patio with grill, and firepit. It was also relatively secluded, which was nice, but still only a mile or so from the resort clubhouse, which also had nice facilities if you're looking for resort-type facilities. Nearby Petoskey, Harbor Springs and Charlevoix were fun to explore and had nice shops and restaurants as well... I'd recommend this rental highly..

Great snowy weekend

Another great trip to the Boyne Lodge. This makes our 6th consecutive stay at the Boyne Home. We have been coming up from the Detroit area to ski as a group for 14 years. The house is always ready upon arrival the service is great and the accommodations is great for multi-families. The snow is removed promptly from the driveway making it easy to access the Boyne's restaurants and ski adventure. The Home has a large great room for gatherings and the downstairs is useful for those who want to watch sporting events away from others. I would highly recommend this Home for rental.

A Perfect Summer Vacation

Our family of 14 stayed at the GW Lodge in July 2011 and let me tell you, it was WONDERFUL. First of all, comfort is primary at this house. Everything is spotless, well thought out, convenient and relaxing. Your vacation cannot be fun if you do not sleep well. The beds in this home are comfortable, clean and abundant. There is no waiting to get into a bathroom here. Every bedroom has a bathroom so you can unload all of your necessary things into your bathroom and leave them there until your departure. That is so convenient that eventually, you feel like you are staying in your own home! The kitchen was just a little on the small side for us, and the dining table could have been a little bit longer for our family, but we managed quite well and ate every meal family style.

The outdoor living is another whole story. First of all, this house is literally on the side of a mountain. The road up to the house is very steep and the driveway is steep. No little kid bikes were taken on vacation this year because it would just be too dangerous for 3 and 5 year olds. But the quiet was everywhere. The peace was wonderful. The solitude was heavenly. Then, you go DOWN the mountain to the Boyne Highlands facilities and find all kinds of things to do. The pool is heated and WONDERFUL for everyone. There are extensive grassy grounds where you can engage in FREE 9 hole golf, chair lift rides, croquet and other lawn games, etc. etc. etc. And you get a feeling of family here. No one asks you for your ID nor do you have to carry around some kind of proof that you are staying in a Boyne property. Everyone just accepts that you have access to these wonderful amenities and they leave you alone to enjoy them. There is a casual, happy and safe atmosphere here that makes you feel completely at home.

In Harbor Springs there is a beautiful and clean public beach and of course, the quaint and expensive little shops. But just down the road back toward Petoskey, there is a PIRATE mini-golf that we visited almost daily and a bowling alley very near that was great for a rainy day activity. La Senorita has fantastic Margarita's by the way.

Back UP the mountain and away from all the hustle and bustle, we sat on the deck and listened to the wind in the trees, enjoyed a campfire and put the kids to bed early every night ~ because they were happily exhausted and comfortable in this home away from home. We are already planning our return. Thank you for a wonderful vacation.

Wow!

This is an incredible home with all the amenities anyone could ask for. It was very spacious (even more so than the pictures show) and easily accommodated our multi-family group. The house was beautifully furnished and the beds were very comfortable. It was also very clean. The multi-level unit was perfect for the kids. We did miss a television on the main floor as we wanted to watch some college basketball but certainly understand there really is no need since most of our time was spent outdoors. The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed to prepare meals in the home. The dryer came in handy for drying ski clothes and bathing suits after an evening in the hot tub at the Main Lodge. Having a garage for parking was very nice. The only drawback at G.W. Lodge is the early closure of the back lifts at Boyne Highlands. The weekend we were there they closed at 3:30. We did ski later by bringing a car down to the Challenger Lift for our ride back up. I would say that the spaciousness and the comfort of the home more than made up for that one drawback. The property manager was very helpful and able to answer all our questions. Her service was excellent. We would definately recommend the home to others, and we certainly hope to return.

Wonderful family vacation location!

In early August 2010, we enjoyed a memorable family vacation (8 adults + two teenagers) at GW Lodge.
This home is beautiful, has great amenities, the layout is perfect for a large group. Everything was clean, in good working order and very nicely decorated. We especially liked bathrooms adjoining each of the bedrooms - private, practical and easy for everyone to "get ready" at once. The property is secluded and peaceful with a great outdoor grill area and backyard firepit. The kitchen flows very well and is perfect for many cooks at once. Having access to the Boyne Highlands resort is a very nice plus (the zip line adventure is a winner!) We loved the close proximity to Petosky State Park for fun in the sun, Petosky stone searches and stunning sunsets. We stayed during the peak of the Persied metor showers and had a fantastic view of nature's fireworks laying on the front driveway. I realize this property is best enjoyed during ski season, but we had an over-abundance of summer activites and most were within a half hour drive. The owners have partnered with a local property manager who was very attentive, provided great information and really did everything to ensure our stay was fun and carefree. I have and will recommend this property to anyone who wants a great northern Michigan experience. Oh yes, and the Tosci Sands deli (near the entrance to Petosky State Park) has a great selection of fresh meats and seafood!
