Why Todd chose New Braunfels

New Braunfels is a great small town with that same kind of atmosphere. This house became part of the bakery years ago. Though the years of owning the bakery and numerous offers to stay the night at the Texas landmark, we did some remodeling and opened it up!

What makes this house unique

Staying at a Texas landmark and witness some of the pre 1900 German immigrant construction.

The house was very comfortable and the location is excellent. We could easily walk to great New Braunfels restaurants and over to Wurstfest. And breakfast at the bakery can't be beat. We'll definitely want to stay again!

My husband & I enjoyed two nights in October. My only complaint has nothing to do with anything that the owners have any control over---the street noise. There are two patio tables out the back door for use by customers of the bakery & renters. We enjoyed our breakfast there each morning. The bakery staff were very helpful and friendly. Plan on taking home a bag or two of goodies. The BEST meal of our stay was at Liberty Bistro. It's rather pricey, but worth it for the food and excellent service. Was disappointed in the service at Huisache Grill. Had a very nice sandwich/lunch at Gourmage. Good place to pick our speciality cheeses to go with your bottle of wine.

Very quaint place. Beds were nice and comfy. We went for my husband's birthday and his brother's birthday. The 4 of us enjoyed the stay. The bakery next door was AWESOME! If you want absolute peace, you might consider that this has traffic right outside your door. We would go back.

GREAT LOCATION to maneuver between San Antonio and Austin. The gift certificates to the bakery was a nice touch and the kids really enjoyed it. The cottage is wonderful for couples or couples with one or two older kids. The home is right beside a popular bakery so expect lots of activity in the morning. It is an extremely old home so don't expect pristine conditions. There's no kitchen or kitchen sink but there is a small coffee pot, microwave and small refrigerator to store soft drinks and food items. The bathroom was large and clean, the family room is spacious, and the DVD player was a nice addition. The only thing we had problems with was not having enough towels and the wi-fi wasn't functioning properly. We did contact the owner and they did attempt to address the issues in a timely manner. The staff at the Bakery were extremely polite and helpful. Overall if you enjoy history and historical structures then you will enjoy this location.

My husband and I met another couple for a 3 day getaway and stayed at this little home. The owners were most gracious and very accommodating! Although it is quaint and cozy, it was perfect for our getaway and fit our needs. The bakery goods next door are wonderfully good and we had to make ourselves stay away. We spent one day floating down the Comal river and the second day sightseeing in Gruene. We loved eating at Gristmill on the river in Gruene, great food and the view and atmosphere were delightful. Shoebels is another good restaurant on the river and it also had a nice atmosphere and great views. I would recommend a stay if you are looking for a cozy place to be.

We were so pleased with the little house next to the bakery. It was easy to imagine the people who built this wonderful house. The flooring, walls, and 'fach work' give it so much character. Every morning we were almost pulled out of bed by the scents coming from the bakery. It was a pleasure to experience the house as well as the surrounding area.

9/11/2010 Stay

Our stay at the Stephen Klein House exceeded our expectations in what turned out be a fantastic start for 'My Mom's 90th Birthday homecoming. We sat in the living area and observed how the owners maintained the originality , from the wood flooring, vaulted ceiling's, to ceiling fixtures, dresser's, doors and moldings, yet incorporated many of the modern conveniences necessary for a pleasant stay. It prompted Mom to reminisce about old childhood memories.

The Klein House location offers Restaurant's, Shopping, Church's, Negelin's Bakery (ten feet away-YUM), Bank's, Lounge's, Swimming, all within walking distance around the Old Town Square.

We were very pleased the Owners were cooperative in working with us for our stay. From leaving the light on to making sure we were satisfied with the accommodations. With that, we knew our choice was perfect. I would definitely recommend the Klein House for anyone who appreciates convenience, comfort and a walk down memory lane.

Thank you Nancy & Todd.

Experience a piece of history!

My husband, step-son and I spent a fabulous 4-nights in this quaint and comfortable piece of property. (My sister joined us for two nights and the sleeping accomodations were just the right fit.) The Kolache's from the Naeglins' Bakery next door were a delicious breakfast staple during our stay and the Cinnamon Rolls ARE TO DIE FOR. We walked to everything during out entire stay. Up to the Comal River outfitters for a toob down the Comal, twice to Schlitterbahn and nothing was better than getting cleaned up in the evening and walking to one of the closely situated restaurants (I must recommend Friesenhaus for the best German food ever. It was so good and so much fun we ate there twice in a row) and then finish off the evening with a leisurly pub crawl back home. We'd definitely stay here again. It was one of our most relaxing vacations ever. (Note: Because of the historical interest in this property, it was not uncommon for tourists to randomly be sitting on the front porch or peering in the windows. LOL - it was quiet comical some times, but the house is equipped with pull down window shades and when we startled any tourists on the porch it led to some great conversations. I'd have to say, rather than distract, it enhanced our stay there.)

We went with another couple to stay at this house and had an amazing time! I highly recommend this house! With the bakery next door and the river, schlitterbahn, antique shops, bars and restaurants in walking distance - you really can't lose! The house is adorable and very comfortable for 2 couples or a small family. We are already planning our next trip back!
