Photos and Description of the Hayden Lake vacation rental
House, 3 Bedrooms + Den, 2 Baths (Sleeps 8-10)

We looked for years for this wonderful lake and house!!

The lake had to be close to a major airport. Hayden Lake is 45 minutes by car due east from Spokane, Washington International Airport, a small comfortable airport with direct flights from many cities across the United States.

The house had to be close (but not too close) to good shopping and restaurants. It is about 20 minutes from the town of Hayden, with all the big box stores, Costco, Home Depot, markets, book stores and shopping. And it is close by (about 30 minutes from our home) to the charming and more bustling town of Coeur D'Alene, with its larger lake, historic main street, arts festivals and great restaurants. (As an added plus, this area of Northern Idaho is known for over 50 great golf courses!)

We didn't want the lake to be too big or too small.

We looked at a number of lakes that were too big, Flathead Lake in Montana, Lake Powell in Utah (no houses on the lake and 2000 miles of shore line.)

Hayden Lake is just right with 40 miles of shoreline and plenty of coves and inlets. We have never seen it crowded in the three summers that we had visited, even on Saturday or Sunday in the middle of July and August!

Hayden Lake is shallow enough to be warm in the summer. For those of us who hate cold water, you can swim in the lake without a wet suit in the summer months.

My wife only wanted a site with afternoon sun which means we had to be on the east side of the lake but facing the west. I wanted a home that was not high up on the mostly high shorelines where many homes have lifts or extensive flights of stairs (about 3 stories high) to go from the beach and dock to there house. That was not easy, but we prevailed.

Our house is in an almost private cove with a gently sloping lot very close to the shoreline. The lot is situated between two vacant lots and the cove is known as one of the best fishing spots on the lake.

The house is about 3,200 sq ft. on the water's edge. It is on two levels with 3 bedrooms, two dens and two bathrooms with private beach and dock to boot! There is even a full size doll house for fun, that has two bunk beds in it!

This home will sleep 8-10 people. Each bedroom has a queen size bed, the upstairs den has a sleeper couch as does the downstairs den, and the oversized utility room has a trundle bed which will sleep two (two single mattresses).

It has a complete kitchen with marble counter tops, washer and dryer, TVs, and it is internet connected.

Please come and enjoy our wonderful home.

Mother nature at her best!

We arrived about 4:30 on Saturday evening, walked over the front threshold right into a scarlet sunset! It captured our breath and hearts. After quietly closing the front door, we were drawn to the window, where we stood for 30 minutes enjoying its beauty. It wasn't until the sunset had completely faded that we retrieved the luggage from the car. The rest of our stay was an extension of the sunset moment, peaking with a light snow flurry as we prepared to depart. Mother nature had sprinkled us with her powder sugar sweetness.
The home is well designed, accommodating both large and small groups. All necessary amenities were available. The owners are a pleasure to work with. Business transactions were easy and seamless. We frequent many vacation rentals throughout the country and this is by far the best.

Fantastic! All the glowing comments in the other reviews are true. We skied/rode every day. The location on the lake is great. The cove is quiet and secluded. Our grandson caught his fist fish, off the dock. Excellent dock. A lawn to the water and beach at the house is rare, and much appreciate. Our granddaughter (age 3) was enamored with the play house, hosting tea parties for all of us. We watched osprey dive for fish in the cove, and carry them back to the nest. Lots of bird life- sights and sounds- at the house.
Since you are nine miles in by car, stock up at Costco, Safeway, etc in Hayden on your way in. The area is delightful, because everything is available in Hayden, but a short drive to the Lake, and you are in another world.
If you belong to a country club, arrange for reciprical privileges at HLCC. Excellent dining, indoors or out, friendly staff, and it's 10 minutes by boat to their docks.

Perfect Family Vacation

This was our second time staying at the Hayden Lake House and again it was perfect. There is plenty of room for everyone and all our possible needs were met. It is clear that much time and thought goes into making this place a wonderful place to stay. We appreciated the extra life jackets, beach toys and paddle boat. We had 5 kids with us (of all ages) and there was something for everyone to do. The bay is beautiful and we were able to watch wildlife from the upper deck and the beach. The kids found tadpoles and baby catfish and we watched the resident Great Blue Heron hunt daily. My two-year-old caught a fish! What an amazing experience! I highly recommend this property.

The Perfect Lake House

What an amazing vacation! We could not have found a more beautiful, restful spot for our family vacation. This home is just beautiful...even better than the photos. The owners were more than helpful with our questions. We opened the front door and were greeted with a gorgeous view of the lake. It was just perfect! The home was immaculate and extremely well appointed. The adults loved the deck and hammocks and the children enjoyed the kayak, paddle boat, and all of the floats. Even on a rainy day we were able to enjoy the views while staying inside and playing board games and ping pong. The owners have a stack of brochures for local attractions/restaurants and we found that The Porch Public House in Hayden had very good food and friendly service. I never sleep well before a race and this was the biggest I'd ever attempted but I slept like a log every night and was more than rested for my first IronMan. I can't recommend this property enough. It was the perfect choice for our family. We enjoyed every minute and were sad when it was time to head home.

We had a wonderful stay in this home. I would highly recommend it to anyone. We had younger children and teenagers and all were very satisfied. The access to the water is a gradual slope, which is nice with enough room to play and enjoy the bank. Everything is very well maitained and very clean. Having access to the paddle boat and kayak made it fun for all. If our future vacation plans work out to be in the area again, we'll definitely want to rent this home again.

A wonderful vacation

Three years ago my family went away to a lake in Colorado. We had two homes for 10 of us. It was a little squished. This time we all stayed together at this house on Hayden Lake and it was delightful. The house is large and spacious, the kitchen a delight to cook in. If you're not in the house upstairs or downstairs, you can hang out outside on the beach, the grass, or the dock OR you can swim or go out in a boat. It was a pleasure and a beautiful, quiet location.

Almost Heaven

My family came from several states, and we all met in Idaho to stay at this fabulous house on Hayden Lake. When we were growing up my family had a cabin in Lake Arrowhead, which was about 2 hours from our home. We spent every summer there and adored it. Ever since then we compare everything to Lake Arrowhead, and nothing has been able to match it. Until we got to here. The house is in a little cove so it feels private and it's safe to swim out a ways past the dock. The water feels totally delightful. There's a little paddle boat and kayak, so you can go tooling around out past the cove.
The house is beautiful, and has a wonderful deck where we ate all of our meals. There were 9 of us, and we were very comfortable. The kitchen is very modern, with all the appliance you need to cook and bake.
If you like adventure, we went on a gorgeous bike ride on a Rails to Trail ride. The trail was all old railroad, where all the tracks had been removed and made into a bike path. There were 10 tunnels, with no lights except for our bike lights. One of the tunnels was almost 2 miles long. Everyone in our family came along, and loved it.
I highly recommend staying at this house, you will be very glad you did.

We had the most fabulous time! The lake house was so inviting and comfortable that we felt at home as soon as we had the groceries in the fridge ?
The property is most definitely a real treasure, and a wonderful vacation spot. We appreciated all the little conveniences that were available – from the cookbooks (who doesn’t love to read recipes that have chocolate in every single one!) to the selection of books and board games. The interior of the home was nicely maintained and very clean. All the things we needed - plus a few extras were readily available. Our one recommendation - upgrade the VHS player to a DVD player.
The kids spent hours out on the water in the kayak and the paddle boat - even caught one huge bass that we promptly cooked up for dinner one evening. The lake was large enough for the watersports we love, and the water was clear enough that we could swim at the dock without feeling too many weeds. We saw tons of nature right on our doorstep – literally! One evening a young moose was swimming across the bay, and was frightened by a fisherman in a canoe among the lily pads. The moose took a quick right, swam right up to your beach, walked across the lower lawn to the other side of the dock and carried on his way. It was incredible to see. The kids also spied the osprey nest at the neighbors, and a small hummingbird nest in one of the pine trees right by the dock. We had binoculars so it was really cool to watch the hummingbird especially. We also saw turtles, lots of water birds, including the resident heron or crane (we aren’t sure which).
It was delightful just to hang out – enjoy the weather, the lovely perennials that were blooming everywhere, and listen to the kids decide who’s turn it was in the big comfy hammock!
The property definitely showed "pride of ownership" in all areas.
We highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a relaxing waterfront getaway.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your glowing review. We really appreciate it. We were at the house the following week and did purchase a new DVD player so now we have both DVD and VHS as well as a new ping pong table. We also had weeds cleared out further from the dock too.

THE MOST BEAUTIFUL LAKEHOUSE - HIGHLY RECOMMENDED AND NOTHING BETTER OUT THERE!

My family and I went up there sight unseen, not knowing what Idaho was like, nor the region, nor Hayden Lake, nor the house. I was a bit scared, but once we arrived, everyone was stunned by it's beauty, particularly the house and it's location. If you want peace and quiet, Hayden Lake is the place to be, better than Ceur d'alene in my opinion, as it's not as busy. The house is situated in it's own little bay, with no homes on either side. The house is fully furnished and is in beautiful condition (brand new family room and kitchen, along with beautiful bedrooms overlooking the lake). There were 10 of us staying there and we all slept comfortably. There are plenty of beds to go around and so much room to play around the yard, along with relaxing on the decks overlooking the lake, playing on the grass, playing on the small beach, playing on the dock, fishing, swimming, paddleboating and kayaking. This house offers it all. It was one of the best, most relaxing trips my family has had in a long time. I highly recommend staying here and will do it again the next time I do another Ironman.
