**New dishwasher, BBQ Grill and highspeed internet for the 2012/2013 Ski Season**

Looking to ski or snowboard? Jay Peak Ski Resort is only a short scenic 13 miles away. As the second tallest peak in Vermont, Jay offers the best snow in the east and more than 30+ powder days on average. Enjoy downhill skiing, boarding, or cross country skiing, checkout the PUMP HOUSE full size indoor water park or even bring your skates and enjoy some ice time in the ICE HAUS arena. If you’re looking to check out the area in more detail there are five other ski resorts within an hour or so from the house.

Looking to snowmobile? You can do that too with the VAST trail only a short ride away. The driveway offers plenty of space to park your trucks and trailers.

Our house welcomes you with wall to wall carpeting to provide a warm and comfortable country feeling. Enjoy the rustic feel of the cathedral ceilings and darkened wood beams in the Kitchen, Dining, and Living Room on the first floor. The kitchen offers a full range of appliances including a Crockpot and George Foreman Grill. All utensils, cookware, and dinnerware are provided. The Living Room offers a TV with DVD/VCR combo, stereo with CD for music, and a beautiful stone wood fireplace to help take the chill out of air. A full bath and large bedroom with a full size bed are just down the hall from the large open living area.

A large open game room complete with Ping Pong table, card table, and rustic wet bar greet you on the lower level. Down the hall there are two bunk bedrooms with sleeping for six (four in one and two in another). Another full bath and utility room with washer and dryer complete the lower level.

Keep the game room noise to a dull roar so you can enjoy a movie in the living room with a sliding door that closes off the first floor and lower level. This provides a relaxing atmosphere to those that wish to watch a movie while allowing those card players and Ping Pongers in your group to make as much noise as they desire.

Why David chose North Troy

I grew up in the Northeast Kingdom and the fields across the road from the house are part of the farm my grandfather once owned and where my father grew up. So this location has a special meaning.

My family and I love the views, the quiet, the country roads, the covered bridges, and the wide open spaces all of which allow us go hiking, swim, hunt/fish, ski, and snowmobile or just get away and relax when we visit.

Boston is 3 or so hours, Montreal 2 hours, and Burlington 1.5 hours. So whether we want to go watch the Sox in person, head across the border to see what Canada has to offer, or head to Vermont's biggest city, it's just a great location to vacation in to be so close to so much but be in the country at the same time.

What makes this chateau / country house unique

Privacy, peace and quiet. Whether you want to be alone with your thoughts or relax surrounded by friends and family, there's is plenty of room for both.

Enjoy beautiful views, a large open floor plan, for a fraction of some of the area hotels, condos, and B & B's.

For me, there's nothing like sipping my morning coffee on the deck while watching the sun come up the dew from the valley below starts to dissipate. When it's too chilly out for the deck, the huge windows in the wide open Living Room offer the same view minus the cold.

Quaint roomy house located about 20 minutes from Jay Peak. Owner is very responsive to questions and friendly. Ping pong and a fire place make it a fun house. House really sleeps 10. Loft was my spot and really cool.

The listing description was not accurate... It was way better!

The pictures displayed on the listing are awfully bad compared to the reality. You'll be amazed, believe me.

The country house was as clean and functional as it gets.

The owner always answered himself to all the phone calls. He is very helpful and caring.

I would recommend this rental to anybody looking for a clean and rustic (rural) stay.
Even the neighbours are nice and friendly!

Owner's Response: Thanks for the great review! I am so very glad you enjoyed it. The pictures are getting a little dated on the website but with all the guests we've had this winter it has left very little time for me to go up to the house to take some newer ones, which is a very good problem to have. Please keep us in mind for your next visit to Northern Vermont. We'd love to have you again. ~ David

We enjoyed our stay very much and there isn't a better value for staying in the Jay area. We had a fire every night, the view was awesome, when Jay wasn't in the cloud, and the place was clean and spacious. We will be keeping this in mind for next year.

The best house we have ever rented

5 of 5
Submitted: January 22, 2013 Stayed: January 2013
This house was everything we were looking for and more. It was simply beautiful being tucked away in the woods off a dirt road with impeccable views of Jay Peak. There were only four in our group, but we easily could have accommodated 10 in beds maybe even 15 with air mattresses. The open layout of this house was great and we found ourselves staying at the house each night instead of going out. There was no cable for the television but wi/fi, radio, and a dvd player was all we needed. It was nice to seem away from the world for a week. The linens David provided were super soft and the house was very cozy with great heating units and a roaring fireplace. One thing I did not see mentioned in the initial posting was the loft. It was very cool sleeping up there for a few nights. I would absolutely recommend this property to anyone looking for a rental in the Jay/Troy area and I look forward to renting it again. Thanks for everything

Owner's Response: Thanks for the review. I'm glad you guys had a great time. We have recently added TV via satellite in addition to the internet in hopes to have it feel more like home. The loft is a very neat little nuance that my family enjoys as well. Hope to see you again soon. ~ David

Had a Great Time!!

We used the house for a ski vacation with 1 adult and 3 pre-teens. It was a great place to stay for the 4 nights and the kids really enjoyed the loft. The view was outstanding and the fireplace was excellent. The fan in the fireplace was loud toward the end of the trip. The location is about a 20 minute drive to Jay Peak but it was an easy trip every day. We received a lot of snow on one of the days so I couldn't get my car out of the driveway (slight incline). I was able to contact the owner quickly and was able to get a plow to solve the problem. I would go back again.

Jay Peak cottage

We stayed in this property 3 nights and we really enjoyed it. We were 7 adults and 3 kids and everyone had his own space. We enjoyed the proximity of Jay Peak (max 15 minutes) and also the confort of this property. Everything was included in the kitchen and we did some snowshoes around the cottage.

The only negative point would be that we didn't know that the cable was not functional (so only a VHS and DVD player were available).

Finally I would recommand this cottage for sure and would go back during winter.
thank you,

Hidden getaway with easy access. Quick Weekend getaway.

We were looking for a quiet getaway with friends and family.
6 adults and one child stayed for 3 nights with plenty of room.
Very clean home. View of North Vt. from the back deck including Jay Mountain were outstanding and impressive.
The back of the home has a large vaulted living room with the entire wall windowed to have a gorgeous valley and mountain view while indoors. Bring your best binoculars and cameras!
Huge deck and large covered porch handled the group whether it was raining or sunshine.
Downstairs is well sound insulated in case you have a young one sleeping while the older group is upstairs, as we were.
The downstairs also has large windows facing the great view of northern Vt. which includes a game room.

Great value for the buck!
I recommend the Hoagie restaurant in Newport for great meal, although the home is well equiped for baking and cooking.

Thank you David for a wornderful relaxing weekend.
It was a pleasure dealing with you.
I would recommend this anytime of the year.

We will be back.
PS when do the leaves change color in VT, as this would be ideal for Autumn colors?

Jay Peak week-end

5 of 5
Submitted: August 24, 2012 Stayed: August 2012
My family and I stayed at David Guay's chalet during a wedding week-end at Jay Peak. The home was everything we expected and more. Although we didn't need all of the sleeping space provided, there was so much room, we found ourselves trying to decide what other people we could include in our next visit there. The property was better equipped than any other place my family has rented. The decor was typical of a ski lodge-comfortable, but not fussy.
The only downside was that the upstairs bathroom door was too narrow to allow my husband to access that bathroom in his wheelchair. So, if you are looking for a handicapped accessible place to stay, you might want to check this out. The problem wasn't so great that we wouldn't return. We look forward to our next visit.

Owner's Response: Thank you for the great feedback. I'm glad you had a great time. Also thank you for the accessibility feedback. It's something that I never gave much thought to since the first floor is so open. I'll be looking into the first floor bathroom accessbility this weekend as we're heading up for Labor Day. Wonderful Place to Stay

Submitted: March 21, 2012 Stayed: March 2012
I spent 3 days at David's cabin near Jay Peak. Our group was comprised of 6 adults ranging from mid 20s to mid 40s. We are all avid snowboarders and spent each day riding at Jay Peak which was about 20 minutes away. The road getting into the cabin was unpaved and muddy...but we had a 4WD vehicle and had no problem getting into the house. The view from the living room was beautiful. The house was fully furnished and had everything we needed to prepare and cook meals. It was quiet and private. Several members of my group mentioned that it was by far the nicest cabin they'd stayed in within David's price range. The only thing that would have made the stay more convenient would be internet, which David has mentioned getting in the near future...especially because many of our cell phones were picking up a Roaming Canadian Cell Signal. We are keeping David's house at the top of our list for next year's visit to Jay! Thanks David for a wonderful home away from home!

We found thIs home a great place to stay while skiing at jay peak. Short, easy drive from the slopes, well equipped kitchen, very roomy and great views. Owner was very nice to deal with and responded quickly to emails from the beginning. Two of the other guests I stayed with have already asked for this listing info for the future and I would definitely recommend this home.

Owner's Response: Glad you all had a great time. We still have dates in March and early April available if anyone wants to get one last ski weekend in before Spring finds us. Thanks for the review. We hope to see you again soon. ~David
