This custom redwood cabin has beautiful lake views from almost every room. It is located just one mile up the hill from a nicely maintained and gated homeowner's association beach, and the famous Sunnyside Restaurant and Lodge, with indoor and outdoor dining at the water's edge of Lake Tahoe's west shore.
The cabin has 4 bedrooms which sleep 8, plus a loft that can sleep 2 more. There are two and a half bathrooms. Couples are encouraged to inquire about a substantial discount for rent of one floor only.
The cabin is ideally located just 4 blocks from trail heads and 1.3 miles from the private beach, a small market, two great local restaurants and bike, paddleboard and kayak rentals. Golf and shopping in Tahoe City are less than 4 miles away and wonderful Squaw Valley Resort is 9 miles away.
The cabin is only 15 miles from casinos at Cal-Neva Resort, 20 miles from the airport in Truckee, 30 miles from casinos and nightlife in South Lake Tahoe, approximately 50 miles from gambling and nightlife in Carson City or Reno, and 115 miles from Sacramento and the SMF international airport.
Seniors and those with limited mobility will appreciate that almost all of the living space is on the street level, including: living room with its cozy stone fireplace, the dining area with a table for 8 and barstool seating for 5 at the counter, open kitchen, powder room, master suite with twin beds converted to a king, attached bathroom, large outdoor deck with picnic table and Weber BBQ, and a two-car garage. Beautiful lake views can be enjoyed through 15+ ft windows in the living room, from a window seat in the dining area, and from the master suite.
Downstairs there are three bedrooms, a game room with a ping pong and foosball tables, a bathroom with Jacuzzi tub for two, and the laundry room. Bedroom One has one queen plus one twin bed and Bedroom Two has two twin beds; both bedrooms have forest views with the lake visible through the trees. Bedroom Three has a twin with a pull-out trundle twin and also a bathroom vanity with sink.
The downstairs bathroom has double sinks, toilet, shower and the Jacuzzi tub. There is a door separating the shower and Jacuzzi from the double sinks and toilet area, which provides privacy and enables the use of this bathroom by several people at one time.
In the living room the wireless internet has a speed of 10 mg, the TV has expanded cable, and there is a stereo/CD player. A wide selection of books, including information and maps about the area, are provided for your enjoyment.
The beautifully maintained members-only beach club is just 1.3 miles down the hill, where you can sunbathe a few feet above the lapping waves of the lake on two wooden piers, sprawl on a blanket in the shade in one of the pretty lawn areas, or do a little grilling at one of the wooden picnic tables and charcoal BBQs that can be reserved in advance. Within view are the gravel volleyball court, basketball, and horseshoes.
For those who prefer not to picnic or grill while at the beach, take a one minute stroll down the beach to Sunnyside Restaurant for adult beverages and tasty meals or just a snack indoors or in the shade of the umbrellas on the big deck overlooking the lake.
The cabin location is also ideal for sports enthusiasts. Hiking, mountain biking, and cross-country skiing trail heads leading to beautiful Paige Meadows are an easy walk just 4 blocks up the hill.
During winter the cabin is always rented for a ski lease lasting the entire season. There is a wide selection of ski resorts nearby: 6 miles to Homewood, 7 miles to Alpine Meadows, 9 miles to Squaw, 20 miles to Northstar, and 37 miles to beautiful Heavenly Valley. Upon return from the slopes, relax in the two-person Jacuzzi tub.
This cabin is ideal for active sports enthusiasts and nature lovers, as well as for those interested in just relaxing and enjoying time with family and friends. Very well-behaved pets are welcome only upon prior written approval.

We are an extended family of eight, plus one cat, one hamster, two snakes, a bee hive once in a while, and an assortment of fish, crayfish and a frog here and there. We enjoy these animals at home. And at the lake, one year we hosted a mother raccoon and three young under the cabin until they were old enough to live happily outdoors.
Our family was drawn to Lake Tahoe for many of the same reasons that so many others come to this very special part of northern California. We love nature and the smell of fresh mountain air, watching how the light changes the look of the lake during the course of the day and how the water shimmers in the sun and moonlight.
We selected this particular lot to build our cabin because it is so close to so much, without sacrificing a spectacular lake view.
We have many fond memories of reunions with family and friends, taking boat tours on the lake, lounging with tasty food and beverages on our deck or down the hill on the waterfront deck of Sunnyside Restaurant, spending time at the members-only beach next door to Sunnyside, renting bikes and kayaks, floating down the Truckee River, hunting for extra large, perfect pine cones to take home for holiday decorating, mushroom hunting, and attending various annual events such as the Salmon Festival.
We built our cabin with the idea that the lovely view of the lake should be visible from every room. The living room has a wall of windows that is over 15 feet high at the tip, and faces the lake. It was also important to us that everyone at the cabin could comfortably spend time in the same space, so the living room, dining area and kitchen are all open space.
We also wanted the cabin to feel more like a real cabin in the mountains rather than a house, so the walls of the main living space are redwood and the ceiling is pine. You will find a unique collection of souvenirs on the walls from some of our travels. Perhaps you can guess the countries of origin.
As our family and friends age, we find it very convenient that the entire living space and master suite are on the top story of the cabin, which is at street level with no stairs.
For the past 15 years we have been renting the cabin on a ski lease for the entire ski season. During the rest of the year we enjoy it ourselves, and also rent it on occasion. It is our pleasure to invite you to feel free to consume the consumables and to enjoy the books, games, maps and other information we leave on hand for you about Lake Tahoe and points of interest in the surrounding area.
Questions are always welcome, and we wish you a wonderful visit to the lake!
