Great little beach cottage for a relaxing vacation. It slept us four ladies comfortably and was conveniently located near restaurants and the beach. House is equipped with all amenities you would need for a great vacation, especially if you enjoy hanging out at the house or on the porch. There is a good ocean view from the porch, which is where we spent most of our mornings (after walking to breakfast down the street).

Owner has great information on the area and offers suggestions for entertainment and eating. If we had any questions or needed anything at all, he was very accommodating.

Just a warning about the garage – it is very small (even for a normal size sedan) and will only comfortably fit a compact car. This in no way weighed on our vacation experience, but is just a heads up for if you are renting or driving a vehicle. The house does come with a parking pass for the beach lot if you happen to have a bigger car.

Overall it was a lovely relaxing vacation for a great price. I highly recommend.

Nice place- close to the beach. I think that the house is better suited to 4 people as when they say 8- they mean 4 will sleep on air mattresses. There is plenty of room to put a sleeper sofa downstairs with another TV or something and this would accommodate more people much easier. The house was well equipped- nice bikes to accompany the house too. Owner was very nice and easy to work with. Iw ould go back and stay here.

Stayed for a long weekend with 2 friends, rode the three bikes (included with the house) down the Strand for some fun in the sun and people watching. Just a minutes long stroll to the beach, which is mellow, uncrowded, and clean. And the neighborhood is surprisingly quiet at all hours. Easy walking distance to restaurants, provisions, etc. This is not a 5 star hotel -- it's a basic-but-charming beach cottage, so don't expect anything new or fancy. It's a place where you won't panic if you track a little bit of sand in, so it was perfect for us. The beds are comfy, the layout is good, and there's on-site parking and a sunny deck where you can listen to the waves. And the owner was very accommodating and available for questions. Great time, great location.

My husband, our 2 young daughters and I, greatly enjoyed our stay. The location was perfect for walking to the beach for the day and going out at night. We enjoyed having our coffee on the deck in the morning and listening to the ocean. It was very peaceful.

The service from Mike was above and beyond what we expected. He greeted us when we arrived and showed us the ins and outs of the house. He gave us the scoop on the area, including events that were occurring during our stay. Also, whenever we needed anything he was quick to bring it over.

We had the service of a five star resort with the privacy and convenience of our own house. What more could you ask for.

One note would be if you are driving have a smaller vehicle because parking is tight in all of Manhattan Beach, well all of Southern California. The house is situated very well; a three-minute walk to the beach and equally close to the main street, which contains many restaurants. The interior is cozy and laid-back. Mike, the owner, was responsive and available for communication throughout our stay. Overall, a nice place and nice location.

My family and I just returned from spending eight nights at this property. If you're interested in a beach cottage and love a relaxed, outdoor lifestyle this rental is perfect. It provides exactly what it promises.

There's a handy little convenience store just at the top of the street for beer, wine, snacks etc., but we easily walked along the Strand into town when we needed to pick up a few groceries, visiting the aquarium at the Pier along the way. My husband rose every morning to run on the beach, while I wandered behind with a coffee and my son rode the skateboard he had made his first day of vacation at a little beach shop in Venice Beach. Most afternoons were spent in the waves, with sunset walks along the beach, finishing up our days with a BBQ on the front deck where we pulled out the deck chairs to watch the moon on the water.

There were lots of fun, reasonably priced restaurants within easy walking distance that we enjoyed (Loved Simmzy's Pub and Fishbar!), but the cottage location made it easy to get to other parts of LA. We had no problem getting around using directions from Google Maps. Parking during the day can be tricky if you don't want to pay the meter at the beach, and if your car is too big for the small garage at the cottage, but the parking pass provided made it easy to park a car overnight.

We made full use of the bikes, beach chairs and surf boards provided with the cottage. My ten-year-old son learned to surf on the old Becker surf board he happily found in the cottage's garage. The neighbors were welcoming and friendly; the owner kind and relaxed (he even provided a coupon for my son to get into Legoland free after learning we planned to visit the theme park).

Overall, this property provided the base for one of the best vacations we've ever had, giving us a homey, seaside retreat from which to explore the hiking trails, many beaches, entertainment hot spots and theme parks of southern California. We can't recommend it enough. In fact, although there's lots of world to explore, we're already thinking about coming back to this little piece.

Oh, and when you land at LAX you're only a very short drive to the cottage, which was wonderful after our very long flight!
