It was a great place. Lots of space- plenty of beds and room for our group of 9 adults, excellent kitchen layout for large group, big yard to play in, great view of lake (directly behind house), great entertainment - board games, cards, pool, darts, ping pong (didn't even have time to try out the video games). Grill worked great and plenty of cooking and eating utensils. I would recommend this place for friends.

Great getaway house!

Rented this cabin for a winter time girls weekend. We had 13 people and the house was big enough for us all! More than enough beds and linens, the house was clean and very modern. We loved open floor plan of the kitchen/dining/living rooms because we could all hang out together. The pool table in the basement was a bonus and very nice! During the day we were able to split up and go to Michigan City shopping or hit the wine trails, little bit of a drive for anything but it was worth it. Winter rates were great for a quick weekend away with friends. I've had several of our party ask to get this same house for our trip next year! Thanks!

Excellent feel, function and value!

What a wonderful time we had! For the first time, I had all of my children, grand-children and family from three States together for Christmas. I had searched far and wide for a place that would accommodate everyone and two dogs at an affordable price...not an easy task. I was happy to find this listing fit the bill, and Kevin pleasantly worked through last minute schedule changes without a hitch for a Holiday get-away.
I was cautiously optimistic (the pictures definitely do not do the place justice!) until we arrived. This home is very comfortable and well equipped. Not only were there ample beds, but they were comfortable as well. Arriving for Christmas with snow on the way, we knew that we would spend all of our time at the house, and it was perfect. From the furnishings to the game room, everything was top-notch, yet home-like enough so that you could really relax. We love to cook, so we brought everything we would need, but the kitchen was so well-appointed that we did not have to use any of our things (although we wish we would have brought a blender :)
The back yard and lake provided a beautiful Winter back-drop to top off what was an excellent time for all of us! We very all very happy staying here and I would recommend this home to anyone. If you're looking for a vacation home, then you know the costs of Hotels and other rentals make this an exceptional value. I will definitely remember this one for future needs...Life is Always Great!

It is difficult to find an affordable home for fourteen people, but your home provided us with enough places to sleep, a nice recreation area, a big yard, and we even took advantage of the Victorian Christmas highlights in Dowagiac. Life is NOT so great on Stony Lake

Skip Stony Lake….Renter Beware!!!
This was a very misleading ad and not at all what we were expecting. It was a bad experience from the start. First of all, the listing clearly states this is an ALL sports lake. It is very deceptive in that even the pictures and write up seem to say you can do sports on the lake and swim in it. On arrival, well, we were shocked to find out that the lake is full of seaweed, it is a very small lake, you can’t do much except fish on it, there were no more than a couple of houses, and a couple fishing boats on it. Now, for some people, that’s fine, but with all of our kids we were looking for sports, water tubing, skiing, etc.….and felt deceived. Anyway, that was the start of it. The pontoon we rented was dirty, and the paddle boat was so filthy we didn’t bother to clean it or use it. Inside the house, the upstairs shower never drained, and the owner never did anything about it, and the house was very dirty with garbage piled high outside. I had to clean the bathrooms and kitchen on arrival. Also, to make matters worse, the pontoon broke down on us and stranded us out on the lake. After waiting a day, the owner did have someone fix the pontoon, but we lost a day and even went to another lake, and rented another boat!! The owner never thought to compensate us for this…or take care of the other issues we had complained about.
The interior house also has small bedrooms, and was difficult to find room even for suitcases and clothes we brought. I had to empty a closet full of junk in order to unpack our suitcase. The kitchen was not well equipped either and we had to go and buy a frying pan as there wasn’t one big enough. It didn’t even seem to be equipped with normal necessities…which seemed very strange.
Then, to make matters worse, during our stay the kids were playing on the swing set and it broke. Luckily no one was hurt. It was a very old, rickety set….which, instead of apologizing for this, he charged us for it and instead of giving us a credit on the pontoon, and being diligent about safety for the swing set, he charged us extra for gasoline, and replacing the swing set, and a bunch of other nonsensical charges, and is kept the entire security deposit.
In sum, I’d caution anyone interested in this property to think again. Stony Lake was a disappointment all around… very sad, as we had a family reunion and the whole experience put a damper on an otherwise nice time with the family.

Our family enjoyed our time. I recommend renting the pontoon boat; taking it out and swimming. There
is so much land. We had kids swimming pools, bean bag game, frisbee and smores at the fire-pit.

BEST FAMILY TRIP EVER!

We came here with three other families. Could not have asked for better accommodation's. Rooms were great, patio was amazing, and the play area for kids worked out perfect. The pontoon boat for the lake was a HUGE hit. I highly recommend staying here.

Great vacation home for families

Three families with 5 kids under the age of 3 vacationed for a week. We had a great time and there was room for everyone. The house was nicely laid out for large groups and the house included many things you sometimes don't find in rentals (all the utensils you need in the kitchen, decent knifes for cooking, etc.). The backyard was great for the kids. We had an issue with a water leak when we were there and the owners were easy to get in touch with and super quick to send out someone to repair the issue. The only downside was that the beach area wasn't great for swimming, there were lots of weeds. As all the kids were a little young for swimming in the lake, it wasn't an issue for us. Also great that they allowed us to bring our dog. All in all, the house worked perfect for our group.

10 Middle aged guys having fun

I would like to compliment Kevin on his house. 10 middle aged guys enjoyed our weekend and this place exceeded our expectations.
We followed all given instructions and I wold definitely recommend your house to friends. We have talked and another escape weekend here would not be out of the question. Our collective major complaint was that we should have planned for an additional day.
Positives: a. It was easy to find, b. Great air conditioning, c. Water pressure was high and hot water readily available, d. Kitchen was roomy and modern, e. beds were comfortable, f. linens and towels were clean and plentiful, g. Lake access was great, h. Pontoon boat was easy to handle, i. Golf courses were easy to find, j. Pool table was in top notch shape k. The BBQ grill was big enough to grill anything l. Cable and Internet access was a real plus, and many more small details that made our stay very pleasant.
Overall a great time.
