My family of four rented this cottage for a long weekend. The location is perfect for a nice relaxing "get away from it all" vacation. This is a rustic rental with some nice touches. Do not rent this if you are the type that needs everything spotlessly clean. The towels and bed linen are very nice but the place could use a good cleaning. It is just right otherwise.
We never meet the owner but he arranged for a kayak paddle to be dropped off at the house for our use. We were also able to borrow an additional kayak and paddle from the lobster business right next door. People are very friendly in Friendship Maine

They don't call it Friendship for nothing, everyone was very friendly and generous!!! As I believe we were the first people to rent from this owner I will cut him some slack. The cabin/cottage is actually nicer than it looks in the pictures. You have a great view of the harbor right from the deck! Could use some new screens as a lot of mosquitoes got in, so be sure to bring some bug defogger in case the wind isn't blowing or you want to sit outside after dark. Had a few issues with some things that were advertised, like the air conditioner, which is there (in a closet) but didn't need it as the temps got cooler at night and there were plenty of fans. Beds were very comfortable and the cabin has a very cozy, retro feel. Advertised a TV, which did not work (cable wasn't hooked up), Advertised CD player, which did not work (needs to get a new one) Advertised a boat, which wasn't made available but owner arranged a friend to take the men out fishing. There is a beach, but the water looked to cloudy (from all the lobster boats I guess) for me to swim, although there were people swimming there. On the plus side I don't usually get a fun outdoor game, toilet paper, paper towels, bug spray, bug candles, toothpaste and shampoo supplied. If you're into kayaking friendship harbor is a great place to tool around and check out a lot of classy sailboats moored in the harbor. If you love lobster you couldn't be in a better place, as there are working lobster companies on either side of the cabin. The atmosphere is very laid back and beautiful. This is a perfect setting for 4 people looking to relax, find an affordable place and who don't care about luxurious surroundings. It's comfy, cozy, and quaint, just like Maine!
