A wonderful home base away from home

We stayed here for a week as our summer break, visiting our friends and family in the area, and now we're not sure we can go back to staying in tiny hotel rooms in downtown Chicago again!
Two bedrooms are perfect for our family of three, with comfortable bedding and ample storage space. The living room is cozy and we enjoyed quite a few movies from the eclectic collection in the cottage. We started our days with coffee and breakfast in the spacious dining room before setting out on our adventures for the day. Good strong wi-fi service kept us in touch with our offices each morning, and having laundry in the basement was heaven - allowed us to pack light. We didn't enjoy the sun room and patio as much as we'd hoped to, but they did provide a nice quiet space for a few good minutes of reading and solitude.
Everything at the Yellow Cottage is clean, well maintained and homey, and we loved having our own "home" to come back to each night - with a secure, guaranteed parking garage that eliminated one hassle we always found staying downtown in Chicago - driving around looking for affordable parking! It's also convenient to the CTA el train - we walked there a once when we split up for the day, and it was just a few blocks' walk.
We enjoyed Chicago inside and out: Ravinia, Wrigley Field, Cubs game, Second City, bars, restaurants, and more. Also enjoyed Oak Park's restaurants and shops and saw a movie at the lovely Lake Theater.
The owners are wonderful and gracious hosts, and we had a nice chat with them in the yard one evening. They also left a terrific reference binder in the cottage that helped us find things in the neighborhood.
It was a wonderful experience and we hope to stay there again soon!
