This 4 bedroom Spanish style home is a a perfect setting for your group or family vacation. Recline in the ''Great Room'' and enjoy the breathtaking views of mountains and the sea. While relaxing on the front patio you can take in views of the entire Santa Monica Bay and Catalina Island. We have a fully equipped kitchen and BBQ for your use. All towels and linens are provided as well as washer and dryer for your use.
This is a great house for a small group of friends or family to get away. It has a large lawn on the side with a great Ocean view and a great patio in the rear with mountain views and a BBQ area. The front patio is great for relaxing and enjoying the Sea breeze.
We are very sorry, but our home is not available for Weddings, parties, or events.

The perfect house for our large group visiting Malibu

We were a family of 10 in Malibu for Pepperdine graduation ceremony. This beautiful home was a pleasure to live in for part of a week. It is a short, 10-15 minute drive down the mountain to Malibu. The views from the house are spectacular and force you to slow down and savor them often. The house is open living area which is great. 4 baths also came in very handy with 2 of them being in bedrooms, 1 just off of the kitchen and the other in the main hallway in the bedroom wing. There are plenty of toiletries and toilet paper provided. The bedrooms were very spacious and all beds very comfortable according to those sleeping in them. There is plenty of storage for your clothing and plenty of bedding and towels. The kitchen has everything you need to prepare meals; you just furnish the food available down the mountain at Ralphs. It does have a nice selection of spices and paper goods are provided. The area is very quiet and peaceful. The descriptions provided here are very accurate right down to the hummingbirds in the fountain. We enjoyed watching them! There are plenty of extra air mattresses should you need them and portable crib and high chair for baby. Also we found the 2 washers and dryers, with soap conveniently provided, to be very handy in keeping up on all of our laundry. We appreciate John's patience with us as we had several family members schedules to work around so our dates bounced back and forth until we pinned them down. He was very helpful in answering our many questions and making sure we had all of the necessary info we needed before arriving. He also phoned to make sure everything was satisfactory after our arrival. Although the location does not have cell phone service, the land line phone includes long-distance to US locations so this was very satisfactory for us. Thank you John for offering this property and also for including the information booklet on the history of the area. We appreciated it even more after reading it. The house is beautiful yet warm, inviting, and very comfortable. The detail of some of the decor including ship models, numerous beautiful books, and candles, add to the ambiance. Our week could not have been any better. Thank you!

Perfect Mountain Home in Malibu

Typically find myself too busy to review anything but our stay and this home deserve special consideration. Our party of 6 adults/4 young children found this beautiful home on the net as a place to stay while attending a family wedding.
Communication with the owner was made easy by prompt responses to any request or concern that we had pre-trip (including house keys, security codes and directions). Upon arrival we we’re stunned by the incredible setting/view above the pacific and the mountains behind. We found the house to be very clean and spacious …never felt crowded with all of us there most of the time. Well appointed bedrooms with king-size beds and flat screen tv’s (laminated remote directions with each tv!!). Wonderful front/back porch areas for meals and conversation. Kitchen is open, large and updated with all necessary cooking gear . Two sets of washers/dryers for efficient laundry care. Multiple sets of house keys and a 3-ring binder full of local menus/brochures…our gals decided to try a local wine tour complete with guide who did all of the driving. We found the bathrooms/showers to be very nice with good water pressure …nothing broken or leaking. Local emergency numbers prominently displayed including “what to do if” scenarios. Happen to meet the next door neighbors who were very nice and quiet..we hope they felt the same about our group!!
We walked almost every morning in the beautiful canyon park at the bottom of our road (2.5 miles). Great fun for both kids and adults. Lots of route options in both length and degree of difficulty.
In short, we all agreed that this was a terrific place to stay. The views are really spectacular and overall the accommodations exceeded all of our expectations. As Roger Ebert might gesture: a very strong thumbs up!!!

Awesome views, spacious living inside and out and more than all the comforts of home. This peaceful retreat on the mountainside of Malibu has breathtaking sunrises, rolling fog and private grounds with many different views and areas for gathering. Add to it a simple contract with a gracious and accommodating owner and we couldn't have asked for more. My family joined us for a week over Thanksgiving and there was room for everyone to have their privacy, places to gather to chat or read, mountain and ocean areas to view or explore and room to dine together whether indoors or out. Whether you like the inside or out, doesn't matter because you had access to the panaramic 360 views either way. No need to eat out when you have a huge, beautiful kitchen, gas grill and a fireplace to gather around at night. Towels and linens to accommodate beach activities and any kind of sleeping arrangement imaginable. We rent from Home Away frequently and this was by far the nicest accomodations and owner service. We can't get back fast enough. Five star all the way!!

Just a short winding drive up a canyon road, the home sits overlooking the canyon and the ocean on one side, and the mountains on the other. The views are unbelievable, especially for the price. This is a beautiful and peaceful place, great for just kicking back and hanging out or for venturing out, as the house is close to lots of good hiking, beaches and restaurants. The owners have equipped the house well, and have lots of helpful suggestions and information concerning restaurants and activities. They are responsive to any problems that may arise as well. We spent a good deal of time hiking in the vicinity and enjoying visits to Adamson House and Duke's. However, we spent most of our time just hanging out around the grounds, reading and enjoying the lovely vistas. And with 4 bedrooms and 3 full baths, there is plenty of room for the entire family. Altogether, we had a wonderful experience and would return.

My parents rented this home for a family reunion getaway. Our entire family is in the real estate business including rentals of vacation properties. This home was really nice with spectacular views. The house was perfect for our needs. The owner was available and very accommodating. Offered many suggestions for places to shop, eat, and go. We would recommend this home to any future guests. We went to Zuma beach for walking, running, and beaching. It was great! Weather was amazing.

Spectaular views front and back!!

The photos didn't prepare us for the incredible setting this home possesses.
It is hard to believe that this quiet rural hamlet is less than an hour from downtown Los Angeles (traffic gods willing). We had to do the commute there several times during our nine day stay and were very thankful to have such a peaceful place to retreat to. Sitting out in the front one can see the Milky Way above the city lights - a real treat for urban dwellers.
The home is Spanish Colonial style - roomy, nicely furnished and comfortable.
For those who enjoy cooking there is a gas stove and oven we took advantage of.
There is a Raph's 15 minutes to the east which is a convinient place to get groceries before heading up to the house.
The owner, John is a pleasure to talk to and did his best to anticipate and accomodate our needs. We have already checked the calendar and hope to return in the Fall.
Don't hesitate to book this property it truly stands out from the rest.

Looking for peace and quiet

In an area known for hustle and bustle, this place was an island of quiet retreat. I was fortunate enough to call this place home for almost a month. I always enjoyed walking in the door and seeing the Pacific Ocean framed like art to the South and the beautiful mountains to the North. The home was very clean and well kept. The owner was accommodating at all times. I highly recommend this home for anyone's vacation, whether you are looking for a well deserved peaceful rest or want to be near LA but reserve your downtime for the slow-paced Malibu life-style.

Wow! This place is stunning; even better than the pictures depict. We thoroughly enjoyed our long weekend here. Very relaxing. We plan to come back and stay longer next time. John was very easy to communicate with and the house was extremely clean upon our arrival. The landscaping is impeccable; there are numerous sitting areas on the property and every one has a fantastic view. I'd give this 6 stars if I could.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. This was truly a home away from home for us. We loved the house. The location gave us a panoramic views of Malibu and since it was clear 6 of the 7 days we stayed, the view to Catalina was amazing. The pictures, while beautiful, do not do this place justice. The quiet that surrounds this house is pure joy.
The house is fully equipped for cooking and laundry and there are several good restaurants and great shopping nearby. It was very convenient to get to anything we wanted to do. It is a great place to relax and recharge. We are looking forward to our return.

John, everyone loved our week at your house. We are bird watchers and hikers and your house and location was perfect for us. Our four year old grandson loved playing inside and out and he hiked with us every day. The house was large and comfortable and we enjoyed sitting in the living room watching the hummingbirds bathe in the fountain just outside the sliding door. We will recommend your house
