Living space at Plummer Point is divided between a comfortable year-round deck house and two rustic summer cabins “a stone’s throw away.” The main house offers views from inside and out: 2 bedrooms, 2 full baths, a gracious living room with wood-burning fireplace insert, dining room that seats 12, a fully-stocked kitchen, office space, a cathedral-ceilinged screen porch, and a wrap-around deck. The house has central heating. One cabin holds 2 more bedrooms and a bathroom with shower. The other cabin offers a comfortable lounging area focused on a granite fireplace, as well as a small kitchen and another screened porch. Books fill both the main house and cabins! Wireless broadband internet reaches from the house to the cabins – and of course to the decks and porches too!

Without leaving Plummer Point, you can spend your days peacefully hiking, birding, fishing, reading, watching lobster boats, playing games, and enjoying the stately pines that surround you. Right out the door, you can hike the trails, sail, canoe or kayak in the tidal Damariscotta River, seek the geo-cache, play croquet, swim out to the seals, discover the property’s historic quarries, or create your own active adventure! Three generations of kids and parents have loved playing and inventing games in the clearing, on the shore, along the trails, and among the trees – you will too!

From the peaceful seclusion of Plummer Point, you can easily venture to Maine’s vibrant summer scene. A short drive from Plummer Point brings you to restaurants, lobster pounds, Pemaquid lighthouse, historic Fort William Henry, golfing, antique dealers, shopping, and many other coastal preserves for hiking and boating. About Marjorie Ulin

Plummer Point is owned by 3 generations who grew up vacationing here -- loving the adventures for little kids, freedom for older kids, and serenity for adults. Now we're spread around the world with new jobs and growing families, so we hope others can enjoy Plummer Point when we're not able to be there.

Marjorie Ulin purchased this house in 1946
Why Marjorie Ulin chose South Bristol

In 1946 our parents/grandparents/great-grandparents searched for a piece of undisturbed paradise along the Maine coast for vacationing with their children and pets. They camped for years, built the cabins, then later retired to Plummer Point for 30 years. During this time, they donated all but the tip of the peninsula to conservation.

We love Plummer Point for all the natural space... the limitless opportunities for creative fun... and many relaxation spots for our kids and our families.

What makes this house unique

Seals! Our closest 'neighbors' are a colony of 35-50 seals on the rocks offshore! With respect, we paddle or swim out to them and wait for their curious heads to pop out of the water around us!

An amazing place to vacation!

We spent a week at Plummer Point this summer with our two children, ages 5 and 9. Everything about our stay was perfect. The house was clean, well-stocked, and a very comfortable place to relax. We immediately felt at home and at ease in the house. The property was beautiful, with great hiking trails all around, and quick and easy access to the water. It is one of the most peaceful places we've ever visited.

We most enjoyed canoeing and kayaking right off the dock at Plummer Point, where we could visit the seals, explore nearby islands, gather our own mussels for dinner, and enjoy the sunset on the bay.We also appreciated the information at the house about all of the fun things to do in the area that are within just an hour's drive of the house. Our favorite activities: Pemaquid Point Lighthouse, exploring tidal pools around the point, Fort William Henry, lobsters at the South Bristol Fisherman's Co-op, trip out to Monhegan Island, ice cream at Round Top Dairy. We had to postpone other day trips for our next visit, simply because we ran out of time!

We HIGHLY recommend this rental to just about anyone. Our kids loved being able to explore the property on their own, and we felt very comfortable letting them do so because of the secluded nature of the spot. It was a wonderful place to come "home" to after a day exploring the area. We all still talk about our Maine trip as the best vacation we've ever taken.

Amazing Week in Maine!!!

Spent the week of July 4th at Plummer Point. My wife and 4 children had never been to Maine and wanted to find the perfect place to experience the true feeling being in the heart of Maine. Let me tell you, THIS WAS IT!! From the moment we turned on to the long private drive, we knew this was going to be a vacation of a lifetime. It was secluded, with the most beautiful trails and the most wonderful view of the water down at the dock. We caught at least 40 mackeral while there, sometimes we would have 3-4 on at a time. Kayaking on the calm waters in the evening were also a highlight as we listened to the seals settling in on the rocks. They seemed to enjoy watching us closer and closer each day as they popped their curious heads out of the water around us. The house was way more than we expected for the 6 of us and the amenities were too many to even name! The wrap around deck, the sun room/dining room, the large master bathroom, the numerous windows allowing the natural light and view of the river, and 2 full baths made our stay incredibly comfortable, feeling like we truly lived there. The local lobster co-op at South Bristol had the BEST fresh lobsters at such a great price. We ate there 3 times during the week. The local area was amazing as well with the great town of Damariscotta (my wife and I LOVED strolling the streets there and sampling all the small cafes and restaurants while shopping for local goods) and the Pemaquid Lighthouse was the ultimate place for a family photo-op! If you are looking for a beautiful place to stay, in a quiet area with a small-town feel (they even have a full-service gas station in Damariscotta!!!), fantastic food, and the nicest people you ever want to meet (especially the owners--THANKS, Marjorie!!!), then Plummer Point is the place for you! We can't wait to go back again. It was the BEST!!!

Owner's Response: We're so glad Plummer Point made great memories for this family! While we don't offer a big TV, it's a comfortable place, and there's always something to explore for adventurous visitors. (Small note to others: it would be very difficult to stay at Plummer Point with no car. I think this reviewer mistakenly checked this box.)

My wife and 3 boys had a wonderful time at Plummer point. My wife an I loved the clean, well equipped house. The boys loved playing down by the dock, fishing, crabbing, checking out the seals on the rocks. There is plenty of hiking nearby.
