Perfection

We are a family of 4 who stayed here for 1 week in July 2012 and it definitely exceeded our expectations. The location was optimal, apartment spacious and comfortable and the kitchen well set up for cooking. We also enjoyed the outdoor terrace out the back as well as the lovely boat out front. Although the stairs were steep and we had a crazy rainstorm which flooded the entrance, we feel very lucky to have found such a wonderful spot. We hope to return again and would come right back here if possible.

We stayed here for five days and enjoyed every moment. The apartment is located in one of the most picturesque canals in Amsterdam, which is a wonderful place to be in the city. The area is quaint and quiet, but close enough to walk to anything you'd like to do in the city. This place a truly a hidden gem! We hope to visit again in the future.

Wonderful Apartment

This was our first trip to Amsterdam, we stayed in the apartment for 5 days and had a wonderful time. The apartment is located on a gorgeous canal, it is close to all the sights yet in a relatively quiet part of town. We enjoyed relaxing on the boat, cooking meals in the well equipped kitchen, and taking in the canal and street views from the large front windows. The apartment is right down the street from the Anne Frank House, an easy walk to central Amsterdam, and there was easy access to canal tours, light rail and bus stops. There are plenty of cafes and bars very close by. I highly recommend staying here, the owner was very kind and easy to work with, she also gave us plenty of good advice. We will be coming back to Amsterdam (soon I hope!) and would stay here again in a heartbeat!

Garden room, plain and simple

We stayed in the garden room during our stay in Amsterdam. The best thing about the place is its great location right on one of the canals and easy walking distance to any part of the city.
Unfortunately, we did not get a chance to use the boat as the owner was vacationing on it during our stay. The ceiling in the garden room is short as advertised and considering that I am 5'10 I had to bend my head to walk in certain parts and several times hit my head in the door way. The place is a bit dark but is alright once you turn all of the lights on. No tv and a few instances of bugs. No door to the bathroom which was interesting as you get to know your significant other pretty well after the trip.

Owner's Response: Wonderful they liked our spot but It's a pithy because the boat is right at the front door like manny boats are. I was on vacation yes .....but not on the boat to Italy but by airplane ….. if they had asked our household they had been sitting on the boat.

Myhusband and four year old son stayed in the lower room. It was great. The location was great. Close to te museums, Anne Frank house, and great restaurants. We walked everywhere. We were able o make breakfast in the morning and have dinner on the boat. Anne Marie was a great host in telling us some local events going on. This place has great character and a great way to see how the locals live.

Wonderful month-long stay!

My boyfriend, my little dog and I stayed in this charming rental for the month of April. The first 3 weeks we stayed in the "main" 1 bedroom apartment and the last week, we stayed in the Garden Room.

Our hostess Anne Marie, was there to greet us on our arrival and showed us around the house. It was well equipped with an espresso maker, juicer and everything you could need in a kitchen. The beds and bedding were soft and comfy and the spacious shower pumped endless hot water. There was also a washer and dryer, hair dryer and many other creature comforts.

The neighborhood is one of the best in the city with action right outside the door. The view looks out over a lovely canal and we were a stone's throw from an ATM, grocery stores including a large organic market, restaurants and shops. Also, 2 blocks from The Anne Frank museum and walking distance from the Museumplein.

The Garden Room was smaller but equally cozy and comfortable. We traded the street view for the quiet and gained an amazing tub and sauna. Both spaces feel lived-in, with unique pieces that add to the charm and everything was very clean. Their home seems lovingly and artistically furnished from their lifetime of experiences.

Anne Marie and Ruth went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable and we feel that we made friends in the process. We will definitely visit again and indeed are already making plans to go back next year.

I have used VRBO on 2 other occasions and have always been pleased. Unfortunately was not the case this time. I was not given the apt. I paid for and there was no boat terrace to use. Place was moderately clean and there were bugs in the tub each morning that I had to wash away before bathing. Would not rent from this person again.
Owner's Response: We where very sorry, yes we did indeed had to give an other apartment than was asked for because of a long-term rental of a half year and the time was to short of notes to cancel Robert Shorts. We thought to help him out for the 4 nights he wanted to stay. We have made our excuses and gave a large discount he paid 160euro the night for the two bed room apartment instead of 270 euro for the other apartment.
Our boat terrace is in the water from April 20 till starting October. It would be too cold to site at the water in winter but yes we have now explained this better in the advertisement.
We live in the Old historical Center of Amsterdam surrounded bye the water so yes a bug can happen.
