Treat yourself to a stay at this new cabin over looking Greenwood Lake with private boat access and swimming beach. 5.38 acres for privacy. Enjoy the natural environment with solar electricity. 'Wife Stamp of Approval' meaning the cabin is super clean. We don't hire our cleaning out, we do it ourselves. We also meet you on the day of your arrival to help you settle in. We know your time and money is precious which is why we do everything to make your stay perfect!

The unique location of this cabin at 1,944 feet, one of the highest points in Cook County, offers amazing views of the lake, sunrise and sunsets and eagles soaring. The normal light breeze will keep you virtually bug free as you relax on the deck or unwind by the stone campfire area.

The 'upside down' open concept design allows you to enjoy the lake view from every room in the cabin. Three bedrooms allow privacy and ample room for families. The upstairs 'kids' bedroom has a 32' flat screen television with DVD/VCR for a break from the games and outdoor fun. The kitchen has a full size refrigerator, range, microwave and all cooking items for the chef in your group. A gas barbeque grill is steps away on the fully furnished deck. Snuggle on the comfy couches and be mesmerized by the gas fireplace strategically centered between the two picture windows that make up the front wall overlooking the lake. The protected harbor allows you private launching and dockage for your boat. Infloor heat and heated garage for your snowmobiles.

About Darrell or Susie Splett

Hi we are Darrell and Susie Splett. We have two daughters Hattie and Karlie. Susie has 5 generations of family in Grand Marais with history on Greenwood Lake starting in the 1930s. We currently live in Thunder Bay Ontario which is a short drive to Grand Marais. We love being at the cabin away from everything including internet and TV. We always enjoy the reconnections with our children and each other. We love to fish and ride our 4-wheelers or snowmobiles in the winter. We play many games and put puzzles together on our designated puzzle table. The picture above was taken over Thanksgiving when we cut down our Christmas tree. In the summer we spend time relaxing on the deck and by the beach. We are adding a swimming platform this summer which will add a lot of fun to the lake! The trip isn't complete without a campfire! We built the ring around the fire extra wide for safety. While designing the cabin our main concept was designed around family and I feel we were very successful!

Awesome Retreat

Spent a long weekend here for 23rd annual gals' trip. After finding our first rental home double-booked, owners Susie and Darrell were kind enough to let us stay in their lovely and very comfortable home overlooking Greenwood Lake and keep in touch to make sure all was OK. The house is nicely furnished and clean. And, the views are spectacular! Days spent touring and hiking, nights by the fire ring under the harvest moon. We will definitely consider a return visit!

Vacation at the Gunflint Trail

The cabin was just beautiful. It was what we have envisioned and seen on the picture. Very clean, well-maintained and the owner walked us through the whole house and answered all of our questions. The view was breathtaking! We enjoyed the peace and quiet. Everything was just perfect in our experience with nature and the great outdoors. Before we arrived we brought groceries from town and never left the cabin until it was time for us to go home. We would certainly recommend this property to our friends.

Is this heaven?

In a word - 'wow'. We were blown away when we drove up for the first time. What Darrell and Susie have is not a cabin, nor is it a home. It's a slice of heaven. The setting is pristine, the accommodations are cosy and inviting, the view is beautiful. We swam, canoed, hiked, mountain biked and then did it all some more (and s'mores, too). But best of all, we relaxed. Whether reading on the deck, gathering around the fire pit, or taking photos of wildflowers, it was impossible not to let go of all your worries and stress. We highly recommend staying at Darrell and Susie's and plan to return again in the future. We absolutely love this place.
