Campiglia Marittima Apartment Rental Photos and Description
Apartment, 3 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 6-8)

Master bedroom decorated in medieval style- four posted bed, marble side tables. Beds in each of the other bathrooms have pullout to convert from single to double. All bedroom windows face the sea and provide a wonderful view of Tuscany.

The view is incredible.: Since the apartment is situated above the village you will have a clear sight of the Mediterranean sea all the time.

On a clear day you can see the Island of Elbe and port of Piombino. Below, you can see other castles on hillsides and a church that is over 1000 years old.

The sunsets are amazing, each and every night. During the day you will be able to view the vineyards and olive tree groves. In the morning you will see the swallows circling the town riding on the warm air streams.

Throughout the entire day the apartment is cooled by sea breezes. The sounds you will hear come from the village and include hourly bells, rooster crows and some dog barks.

Right outside and up from the apartment is the highest point in the town.

Behind our apartment and visible from the windows is the castle ruins. The town completed the installation of a park around the ruins recently.

Activities in Campiglia: During the high season the town stages events almost every night. They vary from dancing under the moonlight, to magic shows, clowns, dancers and musicians. The piazza is always filled with people at night, the restaurants full.

There is a community movie theater that projects movies outside the theater for the entire town a la Cinema Pardisio if that is to your liking.

Additionally there are 6 restaurants within the town walls each equivalent to restaurants in NYC. There is a small supermarket as well as individual food stores (meat, bakeries(2), vegetable mart, fish store etc.

All of the food is grown locally and delivered daily. Most towns people shop daily for meals rather than refrigerate alot.

There are two banks within the town with ATMs embedded in 1000 year old walls.

In the lower town of Venturina there are world class spa facilities including outdoor and indoor hot springs. Additionally there are other spa services such as massage, aromatherapy and holistic treatments.

Beaches - Parking: Approximately five kilometers down the mountain and along the coast are some of the most beautiful beaches in Italy. The beaches are part of the protected land reserve and are available to both. All the beaches are protected by a buffer of woods that provide shade on really hot days. You have a choice of town beaches (San Vincenzo) or park beaches such as Barratti. All the beaches provide bathroom, shower and food and concessions. Some also provide outstanding restaurants right on the beach.

Campiglia is truly a medieval town that is closed to automobiles. The town streets are too narrow in any case. As such the town has a number of free public parking lots both in the upper and lower areas of the town. The nearest parking for the apartment is about 100 meters away and outside the walls. The town is very strict about parking so designated parking for visitors is a must.

I am a management consultant that has been consulting to the banking industry globally for over 30 years. I am a dual national with roots in Israel and USA. Cindy is an American. We both fell in love with italy over 35 years ago and always dreamed of living here. Our children spent their summers in Campiglia and the experience was enlightening for them.

Michael and Cindy Blum purchased this apartment in 1992

My best friend showed us his house in Campiglia and both Cindy and I fell in love with this small hilltop town. We walked into the apartment one day and simply looked out the windows and knew this would be our home here in Italy.

As we settled in we saw that this is a magical place with warm and friendly people who were willing to accept the Americans into their society. We in turn enjoy the daily pace of the town and its people.

We walk a lot here and every time discover something new. The town has become our second home for our entire family.

The benefits are endless. Our apartment affords a year round view of the best of Tuscany. Living in Campiglia, is like living in the Renaissance. Most of the town has not changed in over a 1000 years. The food is fresh and delivered daily from the farms. The wine and olive oil are produced locally. The beaches are a ten minute drive from the town. There is a world class spa in the lower town of Venturina.

The main benefit is that we can unplug our hectic lives within an hour of being in Italy. Everything slows down and you become one with the town, its people and nature.

Stunning views and Culture at its best, in this beautiful town. That was en excellent choice for us to spend our 30th anniversary. We loved the apartment and the space.

Once again, we could share a sample of Italy with them, from the old culture and castles to food and wine. The highlight of our stay was Bistecca alla Fiorentina and outdoors Thank you for being part of this charming experience.

Thank you for the use of your beautiful apartment, what a find! We spent a wonderful Christmas with family in Campiglia, and the apartment was the icing on the cake. Clean, warm, superbly equipped, it truly was home from home. Especially impressed with the provision of basic foods (pasta, coffee etc), soap, toilet roll etc and the abundance of towels and linens.

We visit Campiglia annually and I have no doubt that we will be back for another stay.
Owner's Response: Thank you for that wonderful comment. Please be sure to visit us again.

Hey Mikey,
Since I write the address in English takes time and since you have no problem to read Hebrew so I allow myself to it will not be long time since we spent a wonderful vacation in Tuscany!!!
The apartment was very lovely and very fun to stay there. Not clear how we have not used before the warm invitation but better late than never. It was a great gift for the 25th wedding anniversary of my Ruthie and we want to thank Cindy and go for the opportunity and wonderful vacation.

Kisses and thanks
Ruti and me.

Charming wonderful village

This was the most amazing experience. We stayed here with our 4 children. There is much walking in the village up and down the stone ramps and 3 flights up to the apartment making it a poor choice for the elderly or disabled.

Rooms were comfortable and clean. Having 2 baths was very helpful. The kitchen was useful and other than the dorm sized fridge, was perfect for our stay.

We fell in love with Campiglia and the helpful townsfolk. Great location to the main piazza, Anna's fruit and veggie stand, the butcher, the bakery with Graciela, and the cafe where we had cappuccino every morning. Plenty of great restaurants in and around the village. It is extremely safe and our kids (9-16 years old) wandered around on their own day and night. Close to the beach, and a train or drive a way from Pisa, Florence, ChinqueTerre, and Rome.

We will definitely be back!

Dear Mike and Cindy
we had a wonderful time in your lovely apartment! We had good help from your "manual" how to find good beaches plus help ourselves around etc. Your apartment is in very nice order and you can tell that a private person owns it. It gave us a very home away from home feeling. Good utilities in the kitchen etc.!! You have great taste - nicely decorated apartment!
Things to add. I think it perhaps would be useful to have a map over the town in the guide that you sent us (including x and y where to find your apartment plus Stefano).

As regards the utilities - the only thing we missed was a mopping set (the bucket missed its top part at least we couldn't find it).
It wasn't a big problem but the floors were quite greasy so we had to mop all the floors when we came. And there were plastic bags under the master bed, but this is since you asked.

Again we had a wonderful time and I am going to recommend your apartment to my parents though warn them that there are some stairs to climb (they are in their 80s) not only in town but also to get to the apartment :-)

Had a wonderful time

I just wanted to write to say that we have had an absolutely fabulous week. The village is extremely beautiful and it was so nice living right in the centre. We found everyone very friendly and willing to help our stuttering Italian and by the end of the week we were able to do our morning shopping for bread, fruit , cheese and ham without confusing people.

Thanks for the directions and the arrangements for the key. We arrived in the end at about 1030 and were able to let ourselves in and collapse. The apartment is beautiful and was so relaxing for us to return to at the end of our day’s activities. We have run a holiday cottage ourselves but felt much more privileged to be in yours since it so clearly a family home and felt honoured that you trust strangers with your possessions.

We swam, walked, visited Populonia, Florence and Volterra and had a quirky drive on our final day which took us to the geothermal area at Monterotondo Marritimo. Extremely fascinating. We wish we could have stayed longer but hope that we might return another year.

You asked about tips for the apartment. I would suggest that you point out that the coffee maker may disgorge water as it warms up and that the slops tray should be checked regularly in case it overflows ,which I just managed to avoid. A small blanket would be good for those that have hot husbands but are colder themselves!, Also some instructions for the oven. You can tell there was nothing at all really wrong, since our quibbles are very minor.

Once again, thank you so much for the use of your apartment. It was a great holiday
