PROPERTY DESCRIPTION

WHAT TO EXPECT: This light-filled, lower-ground floor apartment with private gated entrance is part of a listed historic building that sits opposite the private garden of Eccleston Square. Known for its diverse collection of rare and tender plants, this garden square surpasses most in London, including the one featured in the popular movie 'Notting Hill'. Everything needed for day-to-day living . . . cafes, pubs, restaurants, supermarkets, convenience stores, green markets, bakeries, health food shops, pharmacies, dry cleaners, and international newsstands . . . are all within a 2-10 minute walk.

PROPERTY DESCRIPTION: Greenhaven is newly refurbished by European architectural & design firms, air-conditioned/centrally heated and fully-furnished with a mix of contemporary and antique décor. By London standards it's very large (600 square feet) and includes living room/dining room area, galley kitchen, bedroom and bath. The apartment is designed with the idea of bringing the look and feel of the garden inside with a calm natural palette sparked by carefully placed bursts of color. Sixteen foot high ceilings and large windows in the main living/dining area contribute to its very open, light and airy feel.

LIVING/DINING AREA: The main living/dining area has a table with seating for four, a comfortable king-size sleeper sofa and armchair with electronic back/shoulder massage unit that lets you unwind after a long day of touring. The furniture is set in front of non-working fireplace and a built-in wall unit/library with a large selection of books on London, as well as English history and culture. Atop of the decorative fireplace is a 42” Smart (Internet enabled) Samsung flat-panel HDTV with separate sound bar for enhanced listening pleasure. There's access to 100+ channels, including CNN International, Sky News International and BBC World plus hundreds of movies on demand. For those who must work while away, there's a notebook computer and FREE high speed WIFI, wireless phones with FREE international calling to the U.S., Canada, Australia, Europe and other countries, and FREE use of printer/scanner/copier/fax machine and office supplies.

MODERN KITCHEN: Gourmet cooks can enjoy a fully-equipped kitchen with granite countertops, state-of-the-art appliances (stove, oven, microwave, dishwasher, small appliances) and lovely tabletop accessories. The kitchen is stocked with everything needed to enhance delicious meals, including a variety of basic culinary supplies, such as spices, oils, vinegars, flour & other staple items so you don't have to buy things you'll only be using a few times.

MODERN BATH: The modern bathroom suite features a glass-enclosed walk-in shower with large rainfall shower head, underfloor heating, ample shelving/storage and washer and dryer units.

ROMANTIC BEDROOM: A romantic bedroom with a queen-size mattress is topped with a sumptuous 3-inch deep featherbed wrapped in fine Egyptian cotton linens. Add to that, a fine Hungarian goose down comforter, and you feel as though you're sleeping between layers of soft clouds. A well-designed halogen lighting system, including personal reading lamps, allows you to select your preferred level of illumination. There is also a built-in storage unit with ample space for belongings.

BONUS ROOM: A separate storage area off the kitchen lets you stash away suitcases and other large items.

PRIVATE GARDEN: The private garden square has gathered a string of awards throughout the years, including First Prize at the London Garden Society in 2011 and 2013. Planned by Thomas Cubitt in 1828, the 3-acre square is subdivided into mini-gardens. In recent years, planting has aimed to give year-round interest with many specialist collections such as ceanothus, camellias, climbing and shrub roses. Notable features include a rock garden, a wisteria arbour, an iris garden and a fern garden. Mature trees include fine planes, with acacia, chestnut, lime, and numerous smaller trees and flowering shrubs such as holly, laburnum, laurustinus, lilac, flowering cherry, fatsia, rowan and bamboo with herbaceous bedding at the south-western end of the square.

NEIGHBORHOOD: Greenhaven is located in Pimlico, a small residential area of central London (Zone 1) in the City of Westminster. Like the posh Belgravia area, to which it was built as a southern extension, Pimlico is known for its grand garden squares and impressive Regency architecture. Notable residents have included politician Winston Churchill who lived for a time on Eccleston Square, designer Laura Ashley, philosopher Swami Vivekananda, actor Laurence Olivier, illustrator and author Aubrey Beardsley and inventor of lawn tennis Major Walter Wingfield.

If you're travelling to Paris, we also have a luxury penthouse with stunning eiffel tower views, vrbo number 125613; a charming cottage in the vineyards of southern france, google Le Petit Charme; and a mid-century modern ranch house in the vineyards of Napa Valley, California, vrbo number 497158.

I have been offering luxury holiday accommodations since 1999, with properties in Napa Valley, California, Paris, and the South of France. London is my latest location. Residential design and decor is my passion, and I strive to provide dwelling places that are more expressive, more beautiful than other vacation rentals. I live part-time in all these places. So each functions as a 'home' -- not just a rental property. The hallmark of each residence is its personal style, which reflects its unique character and location. For example, my London apartment, which opens to the beautiful private gardens of Eccleston, is designed with the idea of bringing the look and feel of the garden inside with a calm natural palette sparked by carefully placed bursts of color. Quality furnishings, decor and a level of convenience, comfort and attention set my locations apart from those that are exclusively used as rentals. My philosophy is that I would never rent a property that I would not stay in myself. So, putting myself into my guests’ shoes, I 'think of everything' to make a stay a most positive and memorable experience. I started renting GreenHaven in August 2011, so I'm just now collecting guest testimonials. But to get an idea of the quality of my rentals and guest services, read the dozens of positive comments from those who have stayed at my French properties: just URL 'yourparispenthouse' and 'charmingfrenchcottage'.

Paula Harvan purchased this apartment in 2011

I've lived in London for a few years, and I wanted to find a location that combined all of its best aspects at my doorstep: proximity to major sites, transportation, shopping, dining, culture and entertainment, but with a traditional London feel. Eccleston Square is it -- with an added bonus: the private garden that's only accessible to residents and their guests.

From the outside of Greenhaven, the view is a scaled-down version of New York's Central Park. You see the upper branches of trees, swirls of clematis, heady explosions of climbing roses and, here and there, the opposite side of Eccleston Square, London SW1 -- one of London's most posh addresses. When you get into the garden, you wouldn't know you’re in the heart of a world-renowned international city. When you smell the flowers and hear the birds sing, London seems to disappear -- yet all of its wonderful sights, sounds, tastes and experiences are right outside the garden gates.

Eccleston Square came about when town planner Thomas Cubitt, who developed it in 1845, had the idea of gathering everyone's back gardens together. Around the periphery, a shady walk takes you though arches of wisteria and clematis. For garden buffs, there are several unique specimen plants, including a handkerchief tree from China -- and art buffs will enjoy the irises, some of which came from Monet's garden in Giverny, France. The Garden Square has won many awards not only for its botanical beauty, but also for its well-integrated features, such as several brick patios, glass conservatory, tennis court, and play and BBQ areas.

Another Great Visit

This was our second visit to Greenhaven, and it just keeps getting better. Other reviewers have correctly commented on the location, walkability, comfort, etc. We actually posted a review ("A Beautiful Apartment in an Exceptional Location") after our visit in February 2012. Since then, Paula has redone the bathroom with a great new shower, and added a new flat screen TV, both welcome upgrades to an already first-rate apartment.

We'll be back....again and again!!

Relaxing, well appointed stay

We arrived in mid-April for a 6-night stay, and enjoyed our stay very much. The location is a short (less than 5 minutes) walk from Victoria Station, and there are a handful of good restaurants/pubs in about the same distance. We ate at the Warwick as well as the Marquis of Westminster, and both had surprisingly good food. There is a supermarket close by as well. It is not "in the thick" of things but a short walk from that sort of scene, in a slightly more residential setting.

Natasha gave a wonderful welcome to the property and walked us around the neighborhood, pointing out places to eat or shop. There was a minor issue we needed addressed in the middle of the stay, and Natasha responded within the hour and had the problem remedied before we returned from the day's activities. Such quick attention to detail and overall attentiveness was terrific.

The flat is really just as it is described -- well appointed, modern, spacious for a couple, with lots of amenities. I am very sensitive to heat, and although we didn't need to use it, I would be glad to know that there is central A/C in the flat for the summertime. The photos accurately reflect the flat, it was clean and well maintained, and I'd recommend it to anyone who would like to visit London.

This is a wonderful place to spend a week or two in London. Beautifully appointed - the kitchen and bathroom are particularly nice, and everything works perfectly! The apartment itself is close to Victoria station and underground, and taxis are everywhere - we never waited for more than a minute. This is a great location for London tourism, theater, and restaurants. Natasha answered the few questions we had by phone and email super quickly. Highly recommended. We'll be back!

We agree entirely with the other positive reviewers. Spotlessly clean, comfortable, convenient, tastefully furnished with everything you need, Natasha a dream to work with, lovely surrounds, good nearby restaurants & grocery - only negative would be for anyone not able to negotiate a few steep stairs down to the flat. We hope to stay at their Paris flat as a result of the flawless experience at Greenhaven.

We stayed in Green haven for a week and had a fantastic time. The location is great and the flat itself is lovely and very well equipped. We particularly appreciated the attention to the detail. Simple things like universal plugs, free international calls, printer with paper have made our stay more enjoyable. We also really liked the garden and our 5 yr old enjoyed the little playground in the park. Thanks Natasha for a great place!

Fab London Flat

There are things one needs in a vacation flat...location, location, location. This is a 5 min walk form Victoria Station, which will get you virtually everywhere a visitor would want to go. Tube is easy to use. Get an Oyster card, refill it as needed--London is your oyster. The flat is perfectly accommodated--comfortable bed, plenty of space in the bath and closet, great kitchen facilities, fab shower. But, best of all--and very important when one stays in a rental flat--is the attention of the owner/manager. Natasha showed us around the neighborhood and answered any questions we had immediately. I have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending this flat, except that I don't want it taken when we return

Perfect spot within the city of London!

My husband and I stayed in London for the first time this August. We LOVED the flat and have already recommended it to several friends who have shown interest in traveling to London. It was quiet and had everything we needed, yet located within walking distance to everything we wanted to see while in London. We took the Tube everywhere and found the location to Victoria Station PERFECT (just around the corner less than a five minute walk)! You would not need a car or bus if you stayed here. The private garden is lovely that you have access to and the area quite upscale by all appearances. It was quiet in the evenings allowing us to have relaxing time and recharge from the day. The bed was very comfortable and we fell in love with the coffee maker! Please don't second guess staying here versus a hotel or lower priced flat. This flat was worth every penny and quite the value for the location!

The heart of London

We stayed for three nights just a few weeks ago and thought the flat was a perfect accommodation right in the heart of all London has to offer. The flat is beautifully designed and makes a terrific use of space...so much better than a hotel room! The street itself was quiet and a convenient jumping off point for our sightseeing adventures, also with close proximity to several good restaurants. What we really appreciated were all of the special touches and amenities that made this feel like a home away from home...the stocked beverage area, delicious coffee and tea selection, free use of the phone and more. We would not hesitate to recommend the flat to others and stay there again. Thanks Paula and Diane for a lovely stay and your hospitality.

Went for a week; great location as Victoria Station just 5 minutes away, Just as described and location was great. Originally thought it might be too far from the Olmpyics but turned out to be a great location. The garden across the street was wonderful.

Next time in London would book again. Everyone that I interacted with did a great job to answer any question I had.

Definitely would recommend to friends and family.
