This simple, clean and quiet studio condo in North Kihei, Maui is available for one or two people. It's great location across the street from the beach is enhanced by a private deck overlooking a beautiful garden at the Kihei Bay Surf condos. Our unit features a very comfortable queen size bed, a full bathroom and a fully equipped kitchen with fridge, stove, dishwasher and microwave. It also has a ceiling fan, A/C, cable television, a telephone, high speed wifi internet connection, vcr, dvd, and cd player
The complex is built around a central courtyard with most units facing into the landscaped area. The buildings are low rise (only two stories). In addition to a swimming pool, the grounds feature a hot-tub, tennis court, and a BBQ area with gas grills. A coin-operated laundry room is also located on the grounds and one parking space is provided for our guests.
Across the street is a small whale sanctuary park with viewing telescopes and educational displays. The park has shade trees, picnic tables, and a shallow lagoon for swimming. There are also archaeological displays of the ancient Hawaiian fish ponds and village site. Sugar Beach is located just a couple of minutes by foot down Kihei Road, from where you can walk or run 3.5 miles along a sandy beach, passing only a few buildings. The swimming beaches of Charley Young, Kamaole I, II and III, and Keavakapu are a short drive by car into Kihei, and even better beaches are a little further south at Makena.

My sister and I stayed in the unit for a little over a week January 2008. We could not have asked for a better place for two girls in their 20s! We were, literally, across the street from a beautiful beach. The area was secure and we felt comfortable walking around at night. The unit came equipped with a full sized kitchen, patio, and plenty of comfy bed space. The unit, while not large, was definitely big enough for my sister and me to vacation together without killing each other. We would definitely stay in this condo again!
A couple of years ago my girlfriend surprised me with a Maui vacation for New Year’s and my birthday. Somehow she found this little condo to rent and it was perfect! It was central to a bunch of different beaches, restaurants, and bars – perfect for a long weekend of celebrating. The condo itself had a very comfortable/cool vibe and it almost felt like we were locals living the Maui lifestyle for awhile. The kitchen was fully appointed and it helped us keep our vacation budget in check since we trekked it down to the market and made some great meals at home to take to the beach or eat on the patio. I definitely would recommend this condo if you don’t need room service and a bunch of strangers around to enjoy your vacation.
The condo was great – it was very close to the water and we could walk to the beach in the morning and evening for sunrise and sunset. It was convenient to all the shopping in Kihei… very close to supermarkets and bars. We had a blast during our stay on Maui, and would recommend the condo to anyone looking for easy, comfortable, and safe.
We were on Maui for hiking and water sports. The condo was a great place to chill out after a long day of outdoor activity. It was comfortable and very convenient.

My college roomie and I stayed at the Kihei Bay Surf condo and it was great! We were a short drive to great beaches at Makena and Wailea. And, the drive out to Lahaina was not too long as well. The condo itself is smallish but it makes good use of the space and you definitely get more than you would in a hotel room for the price. No complaints from us.
The condo has ample parking and is easy to access. The kitchen is equipped with everything you need. The living/sleeping area is ample size. The patio is a good size for some fresh air. The complex has a pool and tennis court. We were able to get to restaurants, beaches, shopping, etc very easily. The complex is quiet and clean. It was a nice place to stay.

I love the island of Maui and have made it my part-time home since 1985. My work involves the music and art of native and ancient cultures, so when it came to decorating my condo I wanted to honor the indigenous traditions of Hawaii and other Pacific Islands. For me it is important to give my guests an experience of authentic island culture that they would not likely find in most other vacation rentals.
In some ways my condo is like a small museum or art gallery. That's no accident. I often give lectures and performances at museums, and in November, 2009 I was Artist in Residence at the de Young Museum of Art in San Francisco, where my paintings were on exhibit. I also do a lot of work with sacred sites worldwide - to date I have visited over 80 countries. My passion for travel and adventure is quite evident when you stay at my condo. Even the reading materials there reflect that. My first book was published in 1993, and my second book - not yet published - delves deeply into traditions of ancient Hawaii, among other places.
I wanted a place close to the beach with an ocean view that was in a high quality condo complex. The Maui Banyan fit the bill. I was also looking for a unit that had a view of the island of Kaho'olawe, which I feel has a very strong spiritual energy. Back in the 1980's I joined with Native Hawaiians in the movement to stop the bombing of this sacred island, and I am so happy to say that we ultimately succeeded. So when I gaze on Kaho'olawe from my lanai, it gives me great satisfaction to know that I contributed in a small way to bringing peace to that neighbor island of Maui.
I love the great views - not only sunrise over Haleakala and sunset over the ocean, but stepping out on my lanai in the middle of the night to look at all the stars. It's also great to hear the birds singing in the morning out in the big open field that my unit faces. I really appreciate the convenience of this location too, because I can drive to my favorite beach - Makena - without having to first get through the busy traffic of Kihei's long shopping district. Of course it's only footsteps away if I want to just walk to a beautiful beach like Kamaole 2.
