Exactly what we wanted!
This house was everything we hoped. It was airy, clean and restful, with plenty of room for our extended family of eight to find secluded spots to read or swim, or for all of us to enjoy each other's company at once. We found the sunsets gorgeous every night as we shared stories on the high porch overlooking the sea, hills and nearby resorts. We all said we'd rather be here than in any resort. It felt like home. We had difficulty only in learning to light the gas oven, which Jasmine, the caretaker, immediately took care of, and a slight glitch in the Internet connection, which she remedied at once. The few times it rained lasted only minutes, during which the sun still shone. We are from New England, yet were never hot. We saw crowds of hummingbirds in the tree by the pool, birds and so many exotic plants. Everyday we swam at the beach down the dirt lane, only seeing people once for a few moments. It was ours! We highly recommend the cruise on the catamaran Mango Tango to Sufriere which took us down the western side of the island to the Pitons. It included soft drinks and rum punches, snorkeling, a volcano, mud baths, rainforest zip lines ,tour of a banana/ sugar cane/ cocoa plantation with a wonderful Creole buffet, and a sunset ride home concluding with a joyful dance as we returned to Rodney Bay. You need a driver to go places. I would not want to drive on the opposite side of the road from what I am used to, and the mountain roads are narrow, twisty and often have sides caved in from mudslides. Our drivers were wonderful. The only regrets we had about staying in this wonderful place was that we couldn't stay longer. So, come and have your breakfast in the orchid garden. Nearby Rodney Bay has all the shops, restaurants and activities one would expect in a resort town, plus Castries has a nice craft sale. The beach at Pigeon Island National Park was lovely, and also had snorkeling areas. But at night , we could "go home". We loved every minute.
Owner's Response: Jean,
Thank you so much for your kind words. I know how magical the house is and it is a pleasure to know that others have enjoyed it as much. I'm also glad you enjoyed breakfast around the orchids - I've been collecting them for years and also growing all the flowers and trees that attract the local birds. It is indeed a very restful place! It's great to know that you took in a lot of what St Lucia has to offer as well. I also agree with you that the beach is one of the best features of the house. Your pictures show a lot of happiness. So thrilled you had a great time and that Jasamine took such good care of you - she's a godsend! Chris
