Scenic rental with character

My fiancee and I LOVED our stay at this cozy rental. If you want the feeling of "getting away", this is the spot. It is a hop-skip-and-a-jump away from the park and the "downtown" area, yet it is completely secluded. This rental lends itself fully to the quiet of the desert and the sparkling night sky. Some fun features include the loft (with panoramic views), the huge covered patio, and the FIRE PIT (such a nice compliment to this natured driven spot)! Most of all, everything from the appliances, to the light fixtures, to the built in speaker system (which we hooked up our i-pod to) was BRAND NEW. Lastly, everything was super clean and fresh. We highly recommend this rental, and we can't wait to book our next visit! Thank you so much to the owners for such a magical experience...this is definitely our new spot :)

Exactly what we wanted. A perfect getaway for my wife and I.

My wife and I went to this little place for a week and we loved it. I was happy to find that it was just far enough out of town that we felt the solitude that the desert provides (incredible sunrises and sunsets). I had some writing that I wanted to do and was pleased to have internet access. My wife couldn't have been more content with her book and the quiet. The cooking facilities are good and the grill out back is great. There's a nice, old-time refrigerator for groceries and a little 'fridge for brewskies. Access to the loft is killer with a pulldown staircase and the distinct feeling of a treehouse. There's also a little mini-cabin about 30 yards off the big patio. The drive to town is 10 to 15 minutes and the Saloon (in Joshua Tree) offers great food and good pours; health food store and restaurants are a block or two away. Stock up and go on out.

The shower is great, never ending hot water. The house was nice and clean. This is a great, little hideout and we are planning to come back with friends! The house isn't in a typical neighborhood so you might want to go find it before it's dark out. A fun adventure!

Bachelor Pad needs a finishing touch

This Joshua Tree modest second home has potential but could use a little TLC. The place was hard to find since google maps didn't locate it correctly, driving around the middle of the desert, thankfully had cell service and called the office for a map to be emailed, unfortunately they couldn't help and we were on our own... Once arrived noticed the yard had a few junk piles, and unfinished projects around. The interior was OK, could use a really good cleaning and a coat of paint to hide all the wall patches, etc. The vintage refrigerator had so much frost that there was no room in the freezer to do a quick chill on beer or water bottles. The TV and DVD setup wasn't working so we stumbled through that, a few basic instructions would be helpful. The on-demand hot water heater didn't work the first night, logged a call for help and got no response. Seems like a great place for a bunch of climber dudes that don't care about aesthetics.

Owner's Response: This house is intended to be a desert getaway. It is very private, hence hard to find. With the provided map or a gps most people are able to find it. I have installed a new on demand hot water heater. I sent a cleaning service out to do a deep clean. There is an additional freezer under the counter for quick chills of your favorite beverages. This place is a clean and cozy cabin.

A Quiet Getaway

Our family of five really enjoyed this house. The kids liked the loft as a "retreat", but caution is needed for younger children to get up and down the ladder. This house is definitely off the beaten path (don't count on google maps to get your exactly to your destination - it was close however). The town of Joshua Tree is 20 minutes away, 29 palms is about 25-30 minutes. If you are looking for a place to stay to access the National Park daily, then there are definitely closer rentals, but if you are looking for a low key, quiet retreat in the desert, this definitely works. We played horseshoes, rode our bikes around the property and laid out on the patio and listened to pandora on the outdoor speaker system.
Highlights: sunsets, mountain views, quiet, little traffic, coyote sighting, indoor/outdoor speaker system, fire pit in back, wifi access, large patio, good/easy communication with property manager
Considerations: Some wires still hanging (not finished upstairs), dirt road access, definitely off the beaten path, one of a kind remodeled home.
Our family enjoyed our stay, it just depends on what type of vacation you are interested in.

Cozy Getaway

My fiancee and I had a wonderful time exploring Joshua Tree and the surrounding areas, and were lucky enough to have this rental as a base-camp. It is beautiful; the owners have obviously put a lot of effort into the house. As this house is way up in the hills and in the middle of the desert, it is absolutely QUIET. The stars were marvelous, we could see the milky way even with all the lights on.
It seems like this would be a great place to go with kids, too, if you're not up for camping in the desert (and carrying gallons upon gallons of water). There is a loft that looks like it would be super fun, though I wouldn't recommend it for kids under 10 or so.
The outdoor patio has a nice large table that was nice to eat dinner on. There's a charcoal grill around the side of the house, which was nice to use. The fire pit and swinging chair were nice and romantic.
When you stay here (and you should, if you get the chance) just know that it is perhaps a little hard to find, and I doubt we would have actually found the house at night, since it is on an unlit dirt (sand?) road with no signs.

To the owners: THANK YOU for a wonderful trip!

My husband and I stayed here for few days with another couple and we'll definitely be back! It was perfect. It's in a secluded location that has beautiful views. The house is set up very nicely. It has a great open floor plan with a large kitchen, living room and dining area. It has a great patio, equipped with an outdoor sound system. All the beds are very comfortable. And the owner was very nice and flexible. We all enjoyed this rental very much!
