It’s like having a private tour guide in your car sharing insights on the area’s history, its explorers, geology, wildlife sighting tips, sightseeing info and more. It even points out highways exits so you don’t miss turnoffs to interesting sights.

A private guide for your group would easily cost a few hundred dollars per day. Ask us how you can get this incredible bonus absolutely FREE. You will not find this at any other vacation rental!

4. USE OF MINI IPAD: Now your family can play games, check web-based email, browse the internet etc... without bringing along your own laptop. We have even pre-loaded the iPad with Banff-related apps and websites that will help you make the most of your vacation here.

One thing that sets the Canadian Rockies apart from other mountain destinations is how little effort it takes to reach spectacular scenery. Truly stunning vistas that may require hours of hiking in other parks are right on the highway, accessible from the window of your car! Indeed, some of these drives (including the Icefields Parkway drive) are rated as one of the most scenic highways in the world...

Summer activities are seemingly endless: golfing, whitewater rafting, fishing, horseback riding, wildlife-watching, hiking, heli-hiking, ATV expeditions, caving, rock climbing, mountain-biking and more.

Bicycling magazine named the Canmore area as one of 'The 50 Best Trips on Our Planet.' Suffice to say, accolades and activities abound...

Drive to Columbia Glacier, the largest non-polar ice-cap in the world, hop on a snocoach and walk on the face of the glacier! Or, for a taste of the Wild West, hop on a wagon picnic excursion or saddle up a horse.

Hikers will find thousands of miles of maintained trails Try heli-hiking, and have a helicopter drop you off at the top of a remote peak, pick you up at the bottom, after you take a leisurely hike down!

And then there is golf. With 6 world-class golf courses and 135 spectacular holes nearby, Canmore is a golfer's mecca. Three courses (Stewart Creek, Silvertip and Canmore Golf & Curling Club) are within a few minutes' drive...

Winter is romantic and simply magical. Ice-skate, snowshoe, snowmobile, dog-sled, ice-fish, ski and more, in postcard-perfect surroundings!

Follow the tracks of wolves and learn the hunting patterns of owls in snowshoe excursions. Take guided ice walks through Johnston and Grotto Canyons. Experience the world of suspended waterfalls and massive blue ice pillars, frozen in time. Go on a guided ice-fishing expedition in the toasty warmth of heated huts!

Enjoy sleigh rides, or let a team of huskies whisk you through breathtaking scenery on dogsleds. Snowmobile through the back roads and wilderness areas. Or soar over the stunning landscapes of the Continental Divide in a helicopter!

Then there's world class skiing and snowboarding on dry champagne powder. Banff/Lake Louise was recently voted 'Best Ski Resort of the World' by the London Daily Telegraph!

Five downhill ski areas are within easy reach of Birch Haven, with Norquay, Sunshine and Nakiska within a 15-30 minute drive...

Having traveled the globe extensively, we can quite safely say that this magical spot holds up as one of the most visually stunning areas the world.

Unlike many other mountain destinations, Bow Valley is a relatively narrow valley. This means that the massive peaks soar overhead, and feel like they are close enough to touch! You don't get faraway mountain views from our home, you get up close and personal with our mountains!

We fell head over heels in love with this awe-inspiring location during a vacation here. We had hardly scratched the surface of available activities in those 2 weeks and realized that it would take a lifetime to enjoy the gifts of the area.

We quickly decided that we wanted to own a slice of heaven, to have a special place to rejuvenate our minds, reassess our priorities and recalibrate our lives.

Hence, the genesis of Birch Haven, a place we are now proud to share with you...

When we say 'we are a vacation rental like no other', we mean it! Where else will you get a free GPS-activated driving tour of Banff or use of a mini iPad, or a library of pillows carefully selected so every type of preference is accommodated? Where else is EVERY piece of furniture (except the sofabed) a work of art, lovingly designed by the artist-owner and crafted by artisans all over Canada?

And we haven't even mentioned the playpen, or the high chair for children, or the WALLS of glass showcasing the stunning mountain views. How about the exceptional downtown location where everything you could need is at your doorstep... grocery stores, cafes, art galleries, restaurants, even ATMs! We could go on and on... but we invite you instead to stay at Birch Haven, and let us know why YOU love our place!!

Thanks for sharing your jewel in the Rockies!

Wonderful vacation! Location of this condo is great. Very convenient to walk around town and visit parks on day trips. My teenage kids loved the balcony, hot tub and walks through town.

My husband (all of us actually) loved the walk to Tim Hortons! On our last day, we finally saw 3 grizzlies up around Lake Louise! Loved Lake Moraine (walking the rock pile) and the Columbia Icefields trip. The Radium Hotsprings weren't that great but the trip was pretty. Also, husband and son enjoyed golf at Canmore Golf Club.

We really enjoyed our stay at Birch Haven and the Canadian Rockies. That is a great location and the area is absolutely beautiful.

I can see how anyone who visits falls in love with the mountains! Thanks again for sharing your jewel in the Rockies. It was a great vacation!

Beautiful property but...

This is a beautiful condo that the owner obviously takes a lot of pride in. The location is close to restaurants and amenities. The view is spectacular. The owner has chosen some unique pieces of furniture to decorate with. Little informative sticky notes left around was useful as was the complimentary park pass. Our son liked the mini ipad provided. The only downside of our stay: we did not notice an existing small hole/tear on one of the fitted bed sheets which unfortunately our daughter didn't think to bring to our attention until after the fact. The small hole became a large tear during her sleep when her foot must have gotten caught in it (how else does a 13 year old rip through what the owner says is 5 month old bedding with nothing other than her bare foot?) As a result, the owner charged us 70% of the replacement cost, brought down from her original 86% after my husband replied that it seemed high. So do not hesitate to stay here but perhaps do a quick look over once you arrive to be sure housekeeping didn't use or leave anything in less than perfect condition.

The owner was accommodating and gracious with our special requests (related to booking as well as during our stay). The condo was spotlessly clean. The kitchen was better stocked (for cookware and dishes) than many other places we've rented. The vaulted ceiling was great. The furniture was comfortable. The large bath in the loft was a bonus, too. We also appreciated the Park Pass. And it was very easy to access the condo with codes; no keys to misplace!

The reason we can't rate 5–stars is due to the loft configuration. It's a bed and bath combo deal, but there is no door or screen between the toilet and the rest of the space. So, not great for privacy. Also, the bed in the loft, complete with canopy, is too large for the space. We couldn't reach past the headboard to open the window and it was quite warm in the loft. As well, there was no blind on that window, so we were awake with the dawn.

So, if you don't mind the unshielded toilet/bath/sink and bed combo, and you like being up with the sun, you'd probably love it. =) We also thought it unusual that there were no hand towels provided, nor tissues.

Our favourite thing about this rental is its location. Convenient for lots of amenities. Just a short, pleasant walk across the bridge to Main Street and some great restaurants.
Owner's Response: Hi Sandra,
We are glad to know you enjoyed your stay, and thanks for giving us your feedback, which we'd like to respond to below...

We actually DO have a curtain in the loft bedroom. It is mounted on the canopy bed itself (instead of the window); just remove the decorative ties, let them drop, and they will serve to darken the sleeping area. Perhaps it wasn't obvious and we need to do a better job pointing that out.

As for access to the window, this can be done from the right side. Additionally, we provide 3 fans and a ceiling fan, in the event guests want additional airflow.

The configuration of the loft bathroom is necessitated by Canmore’s fire/building code. All lofts are subject to the code so we cannot modify the design. On the plus side, guests have the choice of 2 bathrooms with different styles. Some guests have actually told us this loft bath was a highlight because it's unique and romantic, especially since it includes a large 2-person deep soaking tub. And since this is just one of 2 bathrooms, guests who prefer a more conventional bathroom usually just opt to use the main bathroom, which is a “traditional” bathroom.

Regarding the handtowels and tissues: these are always provided, so if they were not available during your stay, we definitely apologize. It must have been an oversight by the housekeeper on this occasion. Your feedback has been passed to the housekeeeper to ensure they remember in the future.

Thanks also for letting us know that you had a pleasant stay, and that you enjoyed the various perks and amenities we provide for our guests. We try very hard to please, so your kind words are much appreciated too!

The location is excellent , the hot facility was great on the roof top. The Kitchen was well stocked and the towels and bedding was excellent .. The decor was unique and quite charming . The unit is more suited to two couples or family , not three couples as there is not enough room. We would stay there again if the occasion arises and would recommend to others for a two-three day stay . The living room area is a little tight for a longer stay with more than four people .. Overall a good stay and great place to relax.

Beautiful stay in Canmore

The owners make it very easy to check in. The condo was our base for our daily skiing excursions to Sunshine Village/Mt. Norquay and Lake Louise (a bit longer to drive). We liked Sunshine a lot, the snow was excellent. Mount Norquay is a smaller hill and that had its charm as well. The Banff ParkPass was included which made it easy traveling. Going to Banff was a quick trip and was very enjoyable. But Canmore had a lot going for it as well. All in all the condo is in a great location! -- Tom S.

What a wonderful place to stay after driving 4 days from Toronto. The condo was warm and welcoming not to mention beautifully furnished and clean. Very comfortable 4 poster bed and two person tub in the loft were great. We ventured up to the rooftop hot tub to catch the sunrise a few times and were not disappointed. The owner was very helpful and the entire process was very efficient and well organized from the first contact till we walked through the door. There is an excellent liquor store attached to the condo with an amazing selection of wines and spirits. Shops of Main Street Canmore are an easy walk and spectacular mountain views are at every turn. Very pleasant experience. Thank you – Nancy S. (Toronto)
