My husband retired in December 2004 and we thought it would be great to have a second home in beautiful New Braunfels. We've alway lived in Houston but have loved the Hill Country and wanted to own a small piece of it. Our friends were buying farms, but that's too much work! We wanted a place to kick back and relax. Our autistic grandson fell in love with the place and calls it the River House. It's good to get away from the crowds and traffic in Houston. I love being able to go from one end of town to the other in about 10 minutes. We find it very restful and are happy to share our condo with our rental guests.
We like to relax, but there's plenty of fun things to keep you busy. And of course the best thing is the Comal River. You can go tubing or swim right in front of the property. There's a bulkhead and steps down to the river. Our grandkids love to swim right in front of the condo and don't care to go farther. We took them to the great Olympic pool in Landa Park, but in about an hour they wanted to go back to the condo and swim in the river. That's Pappaw and kids swimming on a June day during the week. If you bring your rod and get up early, you might just catch a bass. You can see them in the River the water is so clear.
This is a great place for family vacation or several couples wanting to share costs and go tubing. The Comal never gets low water. The temperature is a constant 72 degrees all year long and you see people swimming in December! We like taking our morning coffee down to the river and enjoying the park-like setting. There is nothing built across he river, so you really feel like you are out away from the city. I know you'll love the beautiful location. We're above the crowds just downstream from Landa Park. Hope you'll give it a try soon.
