Florence's Historic City Center - Steps away from the Ponte Vecchio, Uffizi Gallery, the Duomo/Bell Tower/Baptistry, Michelangelo's Statue of David & more.
Open Straw Market (To rub the Wild Boar's nose for luck), restaurants & caffe's all along the way as you 'stroll' to Piazza delle Signoria or Ponte Vecchio to shop for jewelry.
10 minute walk to the Train Station, Taxi Stand 1 block away to catch a cab for a 20 euro cab ride to the Airport.
Main Post Office next door & hair salon (in the same building), a travel agency to book all travel needs 1/2 block, Internet Train for office needs & multiple banking options. Steps away from the Fashionable shopping streets of via Tornabouni & via Roma to buy those Ferragamo, Tod's or Jimmy Choo must have shoes!
Keywords: In Florence's historic City Center between Palazzo Strozzi & the Ponte Vecchio is my Tuscan colored home. Steps away from via Tornabouni (Fashion Street), The Duomo, Uffizi Gallery, Statue of David!
12 years ago, I was a wide-eyed 1st time American traveler to Florence. Call me crazy, but I purchased this condo during my 10 day stay. It was vacant & needed a complete overhaul - so a bit like 'Under The Tuscan Sun' - but not so dramatic.
I just knew it was the right thing to do & I have no regrets.
Now, I'd like to share my home & experience with others. Because I have lived here; I am able to help you with tours selections & restaurant tips, etc.
I am happy to help make your dream vacation a reality.
Boun Viaggio! Travel well!
There is only 1 Florence in the world, a renaissance (art revival) phenomena where you walk the streets knowing that many greats (Dante, Michelangelo, Gallilaeo, DaVinci) did the same. Life comes before work, good food, coffee, style & culture are treasured!
Forget about your 'To Do' list and simply enjoy your life after you accomplish 1 thing in the morning & 1 thing in the afternoon. Basta cosi - so this is enough!
The building in which my apartment resides was built in the 1500's - older than the USA - get your head around that!
As old as the building is I am so sorry to say there isn't an elevator. I am on the 5th floor. The stairs steps are evenly spaced with landings to take a breath. Very much worth the climb I am told. Only 10% of the buildings in Florence have elevators. Hotels are an exception but you will still have some steps has been my experience. A hotel is a very different experience, however.
Parades! Everyone loves a parade. Next to my building is the Home of the Guelfa's! Whereby formal traditions are still carried out today for us to enjoy when this prominent family lived in the 1500's. Period costumes with yes; men in tights, flags, trumpets & drums! They celebrate everything from the oil & grape harvest to All Saints Day & every holiday & religious activity you can imagine.
Tourists flock to get a glimpse & take pictures. I very seldom have guests that don't experience this event.
Need fresh fruit or a 'Smoothy' - Paolo (The Fruit Stand Guy') has his stand just outside the front door. Paolo is there from April - November weather permitting.
