At the end of the lane is a rocky water area, here at low tide.
The water at the end of the lane at nearly high tide. Sand bars on the far side.
The Knollette--Tucked away in the woods on a quiet, private lane, this fully equipped cottage with grassy yard is a short walk to a unique water and mountain view and low-tide play area, as well as to the center of Southwest Harbor in the heart of the Quietside of Mount Desert Island. (Google marks the house closer to the water on our lane than it is.) In town, there is shopping, dining and access to the Island Explorer, the free shuttle to all parts of MDI and Acadia National Park. The Park provides opportunities to hike, bike the carriage roads, canoe or kayak or walk the scenic ocean-side walks. There are also opportunities to rent boats to play on the beautiful waters of the Great Harbor or to golf, antique hunt, eat seafood and explore the surrounding islands.

Our family has been enjoying MDI since we were little in the mid-1900s. We live on the property nearby and are here to provide assistance. We are 3 brothers, two with wives, who act, golf, play tennis, hike and sail among other things while we are able to be here, sometimes together.
Our family, 'twas our grandparents, began visiting MDI in 1900 and we cannot imagine vacationing elsewhere.
At the base of Causeway lane is the causeway and its bridge. At near high tide, many adventuresome folks love to jump off the bridge and body surf under the bridge. At low tide it is time for shells.
Then, at the cottage, we also love watching the deer wander the property.
