Remarkable large vacation home with gorgeous ocean and harbor views from all rooms. The home is situated at the tip of exclusive Marblehead Neck at the base of Marblehead Lighthouse. The vintage construction includes large covered porches and patio, five fireplaces, soapstone counters, and extensive period details. Home has eight bedrooms and five and a half bathrooms. Sleeps 12 and would be perfect for extended family reunion or holiday. Enjoy the Chandler Hovey Park or take a 1 minute walk to a quaint private beach. Sunsets are spectacular!

We couldn't have asked for a better house, location, weather, hosts...the list goes on and on.
Four couples from the Midwest who have been renting houses for long weekends together for 20 years decided to make Marblehead our home base for exploring Marblehead, Salem and the surrounding area. This house sounded to good to be true so we were a little skeptical, that is until we met Day, the owner, and she took us on a tour of the house.
She explained how things worked, where things were located on the property, and gave us a general lay of the land, including where the best grocery and liquor stores were.
The house is gorgeous inside and out. There is plenty of room to gather and talk or play games, but there are also private places where you can spend quiet time.
The 8 of us settled in like giddy campers the first night of Summer camp! Day and Rich know how to have a house that makes guests feel like family. I highly recommend this property.

Memory of a lifetime!

I had the opportunity to rent his home for a surprise weekend birthday celebration for my wife, and we (and our 12 guests) were just blown away by what a charming, warm, and beautiful home this is.
For starters, the home is situated in the most prime location of Marblehead that must be seen whether you're staying at the home or not. There's literally a parking area across the corner from the home where visitors will park to walk out to the lighthouse and rocky oceanfront, and this is the view from the back porch of the house!
Then there's the house itself, which is full of character and truly remarkable. The first floor feels like an exquisitely charming New England home, but is extremely spacious with multiple sitting areas for groups of 6-10 people. The second and third floors each have 4 large bedrooms with hallway closets that are stocked with linens, towels, toiletries, etc. We didn't have to bring a single thing! As mentioned in prior reviews, the kitchen is enclosed and mainly designed for cooking and it's very well set-up for that, with a stocked pantry and ample serving ware. Because we had a sizable group, we hired a private chef recommended by the owner, who prepared and served us amazing home cooked meals, only to be topped by the amazing home in which we enjoyed them. I'll also mention that the house is very child-friendly, as there were plates & glassware suitable for children, and there were loads of games and children's books throughout the home.
Finally, there's the owners, Day & Rich Newburg, who really know how to take care of their guests. They helped us not just with the needs of the house, but also with advice on the private chef, area restaurants and activities, and how to make the most of our weekend.
So thanks to the magnificent location, the extremely charming home, and the incredibly kind owners, we enjoyed a once in a lifetime experience that we'll always remember! If you are lucky enough to have the chance to stay at 1 Kimball, I HIGHLY recommend you do!

Breathtaking Home

We had a wonderful week in this beautiful home. The hosts were outstanding and were very helpful in letting us know the places to get groceries and seafood.
We had three generations of my family, totaling 14 people, staying here and we were very comfortable. This house offered so much space that it was easy to slip into small groups, or by yourself, and not feel smothered.
The kitchen is small but they have made the best use out of every inch of space in there.
The bedrooms are very comfortable and accomodated everyone nicely. Although we had to share some bathrooms, the layout made it very easy to share without any waiting.
My father, who is 80 and cannot walk well, had no trouble manuevering the stairs, or using the bathrooms. (Although a bedroom on the third floor may have been asking a lot).
The house was close to a public park and we enjoyed some games there as well as making use of the public boat launch in Devereaux with some choices for other marinas. We also enjoyed the miniature golf nearby.
All-in-all the house was the perfect spot to walk around and enjoy the Marblehead Neck community.
I would HIGHLY recommend this house for all ages.

Beautiful and Unique Home Perfect for Groups

We stayed at One Kimball for a week in August 2011 and the house was perfect in every way. We brought a large group for a sailing regatta and were able to walk back and forth to the host club as well as use the house as our base in Marblehead generally (and Marblehead is a spectacular town).
The house itself is huge and full of interesting and unique details (windows in closets, a back staircase, etc). The bedrooms are all very nice and varied in accomodations, which is nice for a group with some singles and some couples. We had 8 people for the entire time and occasional one-or-two-night guests and the house never felt crowded or cramped. The back porch is fantastic for watching the boats go by (it looks out at the mouth of Marblehead harbor) and has sunset views over the main part of the town. There is also a sunporch and outdoor deck with grill.
The neighborhood itself is stunning, clearly the wealthy part of Marblehead with amazing houses, great walking and no concerns about crime or traffic. There is offstreet parking for 2-3 cars and another 2-3 spaces in front of the house.
The owners are great and easy to work with. When we arrived they had left us their phone numbers in case of any problems (there were none) and also the name of the local lobster guy in case we needed any deliveries.
All in all it was a very special week in a very special place and we recommend the house very highly.
