Photos and Description of the Asheville vacation apartment rental
Apartment, 1 Bedroom, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2)

Appalachia at its best. A mountain cabin re-created within the basement of my home for your pleasure. Private entrance(s), covered deck/patio, open deck, great view, very private setting.

The location has an East-West orientation, with beautiful sunrises and sunsets. Great place to sit, relax, and enjoy your favorite beverage.

The cabin is fully self contained. It has its own kitchen, bath with shower (no tub), and a small living/dining area. One bedroom with a king size bed.

Centrally located between I-40 and I-26, on Busbee Mountain, the property borders the Biltmore Estate and blends in with the Blue Ridge Parkway at an elevation of 3,346 feet.

Well behaved pets are more than welcome!

About The Owner

I am retired. I enjoy my two cats, Olly and Geo.

I retired from the Community College System and enjoy meeting people, thus the rental.

I enjoy traveling and finding neat places. I hope I have created one here.

The Owner purchased this apartment in 2007
Why The Owner chose Asheville

I had a half -finished basement when I purchased the home, which I separated from the house upstairs. I envisioned a downstairs cabin so others could enjoy the beautiful mountains as I do.

What makes this apartment unique

Living on a rural mountain and bordering the Biltmore Estate Property, there is an abundance of wildlife - turkey, deer, pheasants, bear, raccoons, generally all sorts of wildlife. I have pictures of bear in the yard and in close-by trees.

At an elevation of 3,346 feet, the cabin overlooks a huge valley. The valley is often filled with fog, creating a beautiful sunrise at eye-level.

We found this spot to be perfect for visiting downtown Ashville and for hiking trails off the Blueridge Parkway. The cabin view was so nice and surroundings so pleasant we ended up spending more time than planned just sitting on the deck overlooking the mountains. My husband also had the thrill of seeing 3 bears right in the yard, and we both enjoyed the many wildflowers blooming around the property. George was the perfect host, friendly but not intrusive, and steered us to my favorite dining experience of the trip. The cabin was comfortable, clean, cosy, and the bed was perfect. We hope to return in the future, a four night stay was just not long enough.

My wife and I were looking for a place to relax while visiting Asheville but did not want to stay at a hotel. We were very happy to find the VRBO posting and even happier upon our arrival. The apartment is situated in the basement of the owner's house, but is situated and decorated in a way that you would have no idea its a basement. The interior decor, outside deck and tremendous view are spectacular. The owner is very accommodating, in fact we arrived 1 day earlier than planned and called on our way to see if we could start our stay 1 day sooner. George replied with "come on up!". This was our motto of the week as the house is literally on top of a mountain! Driving up and down the mountain road was quite an experience and we made great use of our 4 wheel drive SUV. We highly recommend the property and hope to be back again.

We had a wonderful time staying at this Rustic Cabin. Myself, my wife and our little dog were looking for a quick getaway to Asheville and staying here was the perfect choice. We can't wait to return. Easy access to everything around Asheville, with the luxury of no traffic noise and just birds chirping and a beautiful view waiting. Owner is extremely kind and accommodating. Clean place.

This property is not for the faint of heart if mountain driving unnerves you, but is perfect if you enjoy the adventure as we did. We found this place to be charming and perfectly decorated for its setting. As described, it is comfortable and clean, not fancy but comfortable with everything you might need. Unfortunately the winter-like weather wasn't cooperating with us for spending time on the beautiful deck. The cozy gas stove felt good as we studied the mountains from inside. The city of Asheville captured us and we spent our days there and the surrounding area just enjoying the sights, people, and culture. The entire experience will be a lasting memory.

My hubby and I escaped here for two nights to have a belated 8th anniversary celebration. We arrived late and George patiently guided us in :) the cabin is the most beautiful, peaceful, and relaxing place we have EVER stayed i! I think George secretly blows in happy air :) we woke each morning to cloud snow over the mountains --- it was simply breathtaking! The drive up the mountain was an adventure...oh so fun!! And of course Asheville offers some great shops and culinary treasures...we even found a great Christian coffee shop on our last night in town...Asheville Radio Cafe, I believe :) wonderful people!! We are already discussing our next trip and are giving out George's info to many of our coworkers needing a rejuvenating weekend!

Thank you George for you hospitality, your great mini tour and most of all, for sharing your little slice of heaven with us---we can't wait to return!

Perfect weekend getaway

My fiancé and I stayed at the cabin for a weekend and very much enjoyed our stay. The one bedroom cabin is the perfect size for two with a nice bedroom, kitchen, den area, and large porch overlooking the mountains. The cabin is not too far from downtown Asheville, but we did have to get used to the winding roads and steep drive up the mountain to the cabin (it's a little scary the first few times). George was very welcoming and has created the perfect cabin! We enjoyed copying up by the fireplace each night and will definitely stay here again when we return to Asheville.

My boyfriend, puppy, and I had the pleasure of staying in this cozy cabin. It was exactly what I hoped - comfy, clean, and close to downtown Asheville. The huge deck and grill only added to the beautiful view. George is a great host - extremely helpful and kind! We will definitely be back!!

Awesome and a comfortable cabin

We drove into Asheville just before sunset, what awaited us was worth the curvy and frankly a little scary drive up the single lane road up to the Cabin in the mountains.
Next morning we woke up to mind blowing mountain views, the crisp air and the sound of George's roosters. Yes, next morning we did master the curves with our Avalon, and stayed for 4 wondefull nights. We could reach all the visitors places Asheville has to offer in less than 15mins. In the evening we would return to our peace and solitude of the very comfortably appointed cabin.
George the owner could not have been better, all in all we had a wonderfull stay at his little peace of heaven on earth.

My girlfriend and I had the pleasure of staying at the cabin. George is a great host, very friendly, and answered any questions I had. The mountain has great views from the deck and the pictures do not do the cabin justice. The drive up the mountain is very steep, but you do get used to it after the first time. The bed in extremely comfortable and the cabin is quiet. The property was clean and maintained well.I couldn't have asked for a more enjoyable vacation. Make sure you visit the Biltmore estate, it is rather close. Also checkout downtown Asheville for a weird experience! I hope to visit again in the future!

We travel a fair amount and have booked many wonderful places to stay on VRBO.com and this cabin ranks right up there with the best finds. It is "rustic" by design only, in fact it is a newly renovated space. It is very comfortable (king size bed is outstanding), clean and quiet. George the owner has anticipated many a guest's needs and has equipped his guests quarters more than adequately. The drive up the mountain requires that you take your time, be mindful of your surroundings, the prize when you arrive is better than advertised. This cabin is perched on the edge of a cloud, you literally feel as if you are on top of the world. George and his friends are very welcoming, downtown Asheville feels far away but its not. Don't pass on this little piece of heaven, but don't stay long because I need to get back soon.
