HUNTING RIGHT ON THE PROPERTY! There are 20 acres of GREAT hunting land with 8 blinds . There are also lots of 2 tracks and pull-offs in the area off of M-30 that run through the Gladwin State Forest.

River Woods Lodge has its own trails for snowmobiling or winter hiking. (2 snowmobiles for rental) and a pond for ice skating.
X-Country ski at any of the numerous trails or recreation areas. Higgins Lake Cross Country Ski Headquarters has 9 (nationally recognized) trails and Stone Turtle Day Lodge to warm up in and have lunch, a snack or bring your own picnic. Head over to the Corsair Trail System and Highbanks trails thru the Huron National Forest. In the same area you will find snowmobile trails.
River Woods Lodge is a large, custom-built contemporary log home. It is nestled on 20 acres on the banks of the Tittabawassee River. As you follow the long winding drive you realize that you are in the middle of all that nature has to offer.
River Woods Lodge has lots to do without ever leaving the property. Relax on the deck and listen to the sound of the wind in the trees, the lap of water from the river, watch beautiful sunsets and spot the abundant wildlife. Gather around the large fire pit, play horseshoes or basketball. There is a tree house for the kids. Go hiking or ride your ATV on the trails.
MAIN LEVEL: Inside the house you will love the open floor plan with its cathedral ceilings, wood floors and impressive lodge decor throughout. The Great Room has a natural stone wood-burning fireplace (wood provided), large windows with view of the river and woods, 48-inch 3D TV and DVD player. There is a large fully equipped kitchen, a bar area with stools and a dining area with a fireplace. The large master bedroom and attached bath, living room sofa sleeper (full) and an additional full bath are on the first floor. There is a loft bedroom with an attached full bath. The kitchen and eating area has lots of windows and french doors for fantastic views of the river and woods and access to the wrap-around deck and property.
LOWER LEVEL: is a walk-out with French doors to a small patio area, stairs to the upper deck and the walk-ways to the rest of the property, access to the river and an Artisan Spring.The Family room has a large TV, a bar with sink and mini fridge, a fireplace that burns corn or card board (provided) and TV. There are 3 bedrooms, an extra sleeping area, futon sleeper and a full bath. There is also an area with exercise equipment.
TITABAWASSEE RIVER:
In front of our dock the river is between 1.5 to 2.5 feet deep. This area is great for small kids/wading. You can set out chairs place them chair where you sit above the water level. Go swimming and canoeing/kayaking/tubing down the river.
Depending upon the section of river you are in, the river moves at about 3-5 MPH. You can use rafts/tubes, etc. and leave from the far south point of the property. It will take about 2 hours to go the 3 miles (approx) to the bridge at Sugar River Road where you can get picked up. If you like to fish, the river does have some areas with deeper spots where the fish hang out (these spots are 6 feet deep or so and out away from the bank).

There are numerous recreational opportunities to enjoy in this beautiful area. Drive the immediate area and stumble upon historic Amish Farms, some selling fresh baked goods, eggs and fruit/vegetables. Just before dusk, drive the back roads around the property to spot the local wildlife…white-tailed deer, wild turkeys, etc.
Take a leisurely hike and view the scenery and wildlife at Hartwick Pines State Park or Huron National Forest (awesome views from the Overlook. Stop at one of the area's antique shops or go to West Branch to the Tangier Outlet Mall. Dine at Willow Tree restaurant in West Branch, have lunch or dinner at Lost Arrow overlooking the Tittabawassee River or relax at the Oasis Spa in Gladwin. Go for a hay ride at Lost Arrow Resort. Drive F-97 or M-18 north towards Prudenville/St. Helen to see the awesome Fall color change or head over to the West Branch area and drive north on Fairview Rd where you will pass the Ogemaw Trails for snowmobiling and X-country skiing…stop and go for a hike with your camera and see the beautiful color change up close (note your favorite trails so that you can come back again tohike, ski, snowmobile or ride your ATV).
