Photos and Description of the Missoula vacation house rental
House, 3 Bedrooms + Other (See Description), 2 Baths, (Sleeps 6-8)

Nestled in scenic Hellgate Canyon, our home offers a quiet, relaxing, laid-back location, yet is less than 5 minutes from the excitement of downtown Missoula. Our home is a beautifully restored log house with new carpeting, newly refinished hardwood and slate floors, fresh paint, and new landscaping. Guests who stay here in the summer and fall will enjoy fresh apricots from our two trees! We cater especially to outdoor enthusiasts and families with small children, providing two bikes, inner tubes for floating the river or sledding, two sets of golf clubs, skis, a high chair, a pack-n-play, and a stroller. We also provide extensive maps and information for those looking to get out and explore the area’s various biking, hiking, and skiing trails, as well as information about unique local events, restaurants, etc. For those coming to cheer on the Griz or visit the University of Montana, we are a short drive or bike ride from campus. If you like to golf, Canyon River Golf Course (voted one the best new courses in the US by Golf Digest, 2007), is only one mile away. Care to try your hand at fishing? The renowned Clark Fork River is less than one mile away, and the Blackfoot River is only about 5 miles further down the road. Missoula is also home to the Rattlesnake Wilderness Recreation Area, an incredible system of hiking and biking trails, just minutes from the house. When you return from the day’s activities, fire up the gas BBQ grill, sit out back on the patio, watch the sun set on the mountains - there's a good chance you'll spot elk or mule deer!, and revel in a great vacation. We hope to hear from you soon!

What makes this house unique

The location of this property is amazing. It is close to everything. Downtown is less than 5 minutes away, but we are far enough out of town that we can enjoy quiet nights with bright stars. The freeway is close enough to hop on and be at the airport or Reserve Street in 10 minutes, but not so close that we hear 'freeway noise' at night. There are countless outdoor activities that one can do either right from the front door, or a short distance away. It truly is the best of both worlds.

What a Great Cabin!

My fiance and I and a groups of friends stayed in the cabin in late April for a wedding we attended in Missoula. We imagined the location to be a bit more secluded than it was but the location is much more convenient than being farther away from town. The cabin itself was beautiful, clean, and it smelled really good! Everything you need, besides the food, is provided! We had a lovely time and would recommend this place to anyone staying in Missoula. I loved the bedroom and bathroom downstairs; it felt very private and cozy.

This home is meticulously maintained with great thoughtfulness for guests' comfort. We stayed here for a weekend with our son who goes to school in the area, and it was a perfect setup for a quiet winter weekend. The beds are very comfortable with high quality linens, there are lots of nice towels in the bathrooms, the kitchen is very nice, and the decor is quite attractive. We loved the gas fireplace heater in the basement suite, playing games, and curling up with good books in the big chair by the front window. We managed fine without a dishwasher, but it might be harder with more people or a longer stay and if you plan to cook a few meals!

Our trip was for flyfishing. This is a perfect location. Early each morning he could be in the river in just 5 minutes as an access point is just at the end of the street. Short drive to many other rivers. The house was delightful. Everything you need. Very close to downtown. We enjoyed the Wednesday afternoons downtown with food vendors, music, and wonderful views of the river. Great central location for day trips to Butte, Painted Park etc. Tubing on the river....what great fun.

Top Notch Fly Fisherman's Cabin

This cabin is perfect for a fishing trip to Rock Creek or the Blackfoot River. One great unlisted feature for anglers is the mud room, a spacious covered porch for storing wading boots, rods and gear and hanging waders to dry.
Located on the east side of Missoula, freeway access takes about three minutes and Rock Creek is just a fifteen minute drive down I-90.
The home is situated in a quiet area. The beds are exceptionally comfortable and the kitchen is well-equipped (far better than most of the vacation homes I’ve rented in California, Idaho, Oregon, Washington and Arizona). It does not have a dishwasher but this was not a real inconvenience.
It was a pleasure to return to this comfortable, clean cabin for showers, cocktails and dinner after a strenuous day wading the streams.

Cozy and Adorable Log Home - A REAL Treat!

I was delighted to have the opportunity to stay in this cozy, comfortalbe log home. It TRULY did have ALL the comforts of home. The home and property was very well maintaned and exceptionally clean. I especially loved the "claw foot" tub in the bathroom on the main floor. The property owner was very responsive to all my questions and the custodian came by while we were there to check to make sure everything was going ok for us.

The house is located in an area that was accessible to most any activity in which you may want to participate.....fishing, hiking, sighseeing, shopping...etc. I would highly recommend this rental property to anyone who wants to visit Missoula.

Relaxing cabin home

After a long day of travel with several delayed flights, it was so wonderful to find this cabin waiting to welcome us to Missoula. My husband, college aged daughter and I felt right at home and relaxed immediately. This was a great location to explore Missoula. It was quite warm into the evening, but the house was cool downstairs and we had the air conditioner for the upstairs bedroom that cooled things down quickly. While we did most of our cooking - the kitchen had what we needed - we did go out for some meals. Our fancy night out was to the Red Bird restaurant where we did some wine tasting, shared some really delicious dishes and a frozen tiramisu for dessert. In addition to hiking, we played 'folf' at the Snobowl. Folf is disc golf - 18 holes around the ski slope. Great views and exercise! The Big Dipper was the place to go for ice cream. yum! We enjoyed sitting in the yard, sipping our local brew. Great fun!

Lovely and Comfortable Place to Stay

5 of 5
Submitted: August 14, 2012 Stayed: August 2012
This was our first trip to Missoula and we loved it. The home was very comfortable and we had everything we needed. The temperatures were in the 90s during the day but the house was always cool and comfortable. The backyard is great - our kids like running around in it. The house is very convenient to downtown and the University - maybe a 5 -10 minute drive. There's an Albertsons close by for groceries. While my family likes to spend the days hiking and fishing, we do like to stay in places that are close to conveniences and this place more than meets that criteria. We fixed all our dinners at the house and the appliances and kitchen wear were great for that. There is a claw footed tub in one of the bathrooms and my sister-in-law said you needed to be pretty nimble to get in and out of it (because the sides are tall). There is one TV and it's in the basement bedroom which is also sort of a family room. So, if you have a person who really wants to watch TV, give them that bedroom. It worked out fine for us because no one in the family wanted to watch much TV. All in all, the house was great. The owner is super easy to work with and she recommended the Farmer's Market which we really enjoyed.

Everything was perfect for our family of seven (including our month and a half old grandson and his six year old sister:) No matter what you needed, it was there. The photos were completely true and the neighborhood was quiet. We enjoyed early morning walks to the Clark Fork River. It was within 10 minutes to fishing on the Blackfoot, and about ten minutes to downtown. We liked Scotty's Table for upscale dining, Iron Gate for more casual food, and many other good restaurants of all types. Within half an hour, there are also many good hiking trails. The owner and her caretaker were extremely helpful. It was a delightful log cabin, artistically decorated, and we would recommend it to anyone in any season.

Great place to stay for our family vacation

My parents and our family (my husband and me and our two daughtes 8 and 5 years old) shared this home for about 4 days. There was plenty of space for people to have their own quiet time without disturbing others and also allowed us to have fellowship in the larger gathering areas. The house is kept up well and is a beautiful cabin. My kids found enough nooks and crannies for a heated game of hide and go seek. The cabin is cleaned well and provides the comforts of home. It is so wonderful to be able to do laundry before a long trip home. My sister lives in Missoula and this gave us a comfortable place to stay while we caught up with her. Thank so much! Britt was wonderful to work with and kept us informed and helped us figure out a time that would work for us to vacation here.

Everything was as beautiful as it appears in the photos. The home was clean, comfortable, stocked with everything we needed and located in a great location that proved to be the perfect home base for our daily Montana adventures. The owners were very prompt in responding to all questions. We hope to make another trip to Montana and stay in this wonderful home!
