Solid home near downtown napa
Overall, we enjoyed our time spent in the house for the month of May. The house is close enough to downtown Napa that you can easily walk it within 30min or take a 10min bike ride. The bike path is very conveniently located less than 2 blocks from the house and will take you about 1/2 to downtown. The remaining 1/2 is a casual ride through the side streets and the cars are used to bikes, so there is no feeling of danger. The house itself is adequately laid out, with the Master BR downstairs and 2BRs upstairs. The kitchen had almost everything we needed for cooking (as we like to cook most of our meals) and what utensils it lacked, we easily picked up at the Walmart…which is less than a 5min bike ride. Also, if you go north on the bike path, there is a Whole Foods within 10min, which is where we did most of our shopping. There really is no yard to speak of, but a small side area that has a gas grill (which was broken while we were there), so we were not able to grill out as much as we would have liked. The master bed was comfortable enough for me, but my wife had trouble sleeping on it. The little office is perfect getaway to sneak some work in if necessary and the wifi works great. The master bathroom is big with his & her sinks, good shower and ample closet space. If you plan on visiting only downtown Napa, a car is not necessary, but if you plan on exploring the whole Napa Valley, you will for sure need one.
The few negatives were around communication leading up to & throughout our stay. The owners are very nice people & should get better with time. The gas grill (which I mentioned was broken), had a missing part that we were told would be arriving in 2 days from the day we got there and would be fixed; but when I inquired about it a couple of days later, I never got a response. I also tried to coordinate a time to "check-out" 3 days prior to our departure, but did not get a response until about 2 hours before we were leaving and that was via text. I would have certainly preferred to have done a walk-through in person to make sure that everything was to their liking, but it did't happen. Everything turned out fine, I've just never had that happen with a rental before. Also, they did enter the house a few days before we were to leave (for their mail key), while we were not at home and without our consent, so that was a bit unsettling.
Again, all in all a very nice stay and I'm sure the hiccups will be worked out, as they gain experience.
Tourists without a Car,
Owner's Response: Thanks for your very complete and accurate review of your stay with us. We will try to do better with tenant coordination in the future. By the way the gas grill is now fixed. We had a very hard time finding the part needed as it was special order from Weber
We were extremely glad to have had you as tenant and hope you will stay with us again in the future. You left the place as clean as you found it (except for 2 empty bicycle boxes in the garage) . We really appreciate a tenant who does that. Thank you again.
