The lake is perfect for the weekend warrior and/or the person who prefers to relax and enjoy the rugged natural beauty. As mention, Turnbull National Wildlife Refuge is nearby. The Refuge is open year round from dawn until dusk and has many walking and biking paths to enjoy nature at it's best. But frankly you don't have to go there to enjoy God's creatures. From the property you will enjoy Osprey's, turkey vultures, geese, swans, cranes, hawks, mallard ducks, humming birds and even the occasional Bald Eagle or during the winter Golden Eagles. That's just naming a few of the 200 plus feathery friends you'll likely see. Deer, elk, and moose can be commonly seen. There is an abundance of other creatures but typically they are only heard not seen (coyotes). Go to the Turnbull Wildlife Website to find more info.
Four full distinguished seasons.
Summer - Spokane means 'Children of the Sun' in the local native language. Unlike Western Washington this part of the state is warm and dry during the summer. Because the area is surrounded by the mountains you can generally count on good weather during the summer months. Day time temperature highs from Mid June to Mid September generally are between 80-90 degrees. Ocassionally we may have a few weeks where we are pushing 100 degrees, but it’s a dry heat so even then it’s still bearable. Low’s during the summer drop to around 60 degrees (Perfect for night time swimming or pitching a tent and sleeping outside). Lake temperature during the summer hovers between 70 -82 degrees.
Fall – Most locals will tell you we love this time of year. September and October it rarely rains and the day time temperatures still hover between 70-80 degrees. The overnight lows are less predictable but early fall the temperatures range in the 50’s. By October you will start to see the changing of the colors and the best sunsets start to happen this time year. September is especially a great month, lake is still warm, fishing season is still open and kids are in school. So the lake is extremely peaceful and the wild life starts to be more abundant.
Winter – We will receive our share of snow and the lake will generally be frozen by the 1st of the year. The ice on the lake in January and February will be thick enough for ice-skating and even for snow-mobiles. The roads are well maintained, and snow plows will keep on top of it so access to town isn’t a chore.
Spring – By mid-March the ice is gone on the lake. This time of year the weather is the most unpredictable. March through May you might get summer like conditions but most often this is our wet season. Temperatures range between 50-70 degrees. Once you get to the month of May though you will generally get pockets of warm weather where you’ll see 80 degrees, but very unpredictable.

This home was our parents retirement home. Our father passed on a few years ago. We three kids and our mother decided we wanted to share our home with you, so you too may make lasting memories and so we could maintain the property and make improvements each year.
Our father eyed this piece of land for several years. He dreamed of building his retirement home on it. In 1987 around opening day of fishing season his dream came true. Two years later our parents built their dream home. Dad would have been satisfied with a double wide trailer, you have mom to thank for the chalet. LOL. The house is perched on a solid piece of rock. As anyone who has been to or stayed at our place will tell you, you'll be hard pressed to find a better location on the lake. Your view looks straight down the lake and you are just a couple minutes walk from the Resort during the summer months.
Williams Lake is generally regarded as one of the best trout lakes in all of Washington. Best time to fish is from opening day to mid-June. Once the water warms up to around 80 degrees fishing is still good, but the skiers and wakeboarders start to take over. The greatest benefit about Williams Lake is the lake is 80-85% surrounded by cliffs. So the natural beauty hasn't changed much in the last 100 years. Plus the lake is never over-populated. Even on the weekends you never feel you arrived at the zoo, and during the week days you feel the lake is almost completely yours. We are entering into our 4th year of renting our home and we have thoroughly been overjoyed with our guest responses. At this point, most of our guest have stayed with us several times. Some will be back for their 5th time in just 4 years. Every year we try to improve our guest experience.
