Having visited Budapest several times in the past, always renting an apt for at least a month, we discovered this fascinating place on Raday utca, at the corner of Raday/Kinizsi, which is not only accessible to multiple bus lines within 100 m on Kinizsi and a metro stop similarly close, but is also heavily pedestrinized with outdoor cafes; just a bit beyond the bus stop on Kinizsi is a very nice restaurant, Kalterberg, which has special prices on weekends and we found it to be much better than just good. Another advantage is a Spar supermarket immediately across the street from the apt, handy for breakfast things, etc. This apt is amazingly large, over 1000 sq ft, and is nicely furnished. Although it faces the street it is surprisingly quiet. We are in our 60s and 80s, and at no time did we feel unsafe in the neighborhood. The apt is on the 2nd floor; the elevator is only about 5-10 yards away so it's very conveniently located in the building. Local contact is a very cooperative and helpful relative who lives nearby -- he provided a prepaid phone and was always accessible if we had any questions. Any minor issues were quickly and satisfactorily resolved.
Of special note is the convenient transportation. One of the buses, #83, goes directly to the Grand Market (Fovam ter); from there you can get to Tram 2 which runs up and down the east side of the Danube, and Tram 47/49 which goes to the Buda side as well as north to Kalvin ter Metro stop and beyond. The other bus, #15, is so handy for runs to the north, all the way to Lehel Market with many stops near the Parliament and other points in between; we used it more frequently to return to the apt from the Vaci ut area (bus stops just one block north of Gerbreau, east across the street from the COIN sign you can't miss), also after shopping at the Grand Market (bus stops west across the street, between the market and the bridge), and takes you right back the stop approx 100 m from the apt. Also, in addition to the Kalvin ter Metro stop, the Corvin Metro stop is a block north on Kiniszi and a block east on Ulloi -- but be advised it isn't referred to as Corvin on maps; instead look for Ferenc korut.
We would recommend this apt -- it is so much larger than many in Budapest and is modernized: AC, WIFI, flat screen tv. Really don't have anything negative to say -- we had a great time and both Balazs and his cousin Tamas were very accommodating.
