The apartment was exactly as described and shown on this site. Great location and very high standard of accommodation. If you are thinking on visiting the Reykjavik area then try to reserve this property, you will not be disappointed.

The pictures don't do justice to this apartment. Everything looks brand new, and the contemporary furnishings are perfect for this luxurious penthouse. The apartment is spotless, the kitchen is equipped with everything you need to prepare snacks to a complete meal. The beds are very comfortable and cozy. The owners haven't forgotten anything that will make your stay enjoyable.

We were two couples, and stayed in the penthouse for three nights while we toured Reykjavik and southern Iceland. Despite the rainy weather, we had a wonderful visit to Iceland, and the apartment was the perfect place to settle in after a day of sightseeing. There's parking available right in front of the building or in the garage. A grocery store and other places are nearby. It takes about 20 minutes to get into the city of Reykjavik.

We can't wait to go back to Iceland, and we would definitely plan to stay at this apartment again. We highly recommend this accommodation.

To say that Johanna's penthouse is the best place we have ever stayed would be an understatement. It was superlative in every sense. Our traveling companions had been delayed 30 hrs. Sensing the trauma this may have caused, Johanna met us with a beautiful tray of prepared halibut for us to pop into the oven along with fresh vegetables to flesh out our dinner. What an unexpected welcome! We never felt more content in new surroundings on a first night. The condo is everything shown on the website and so much more. As previous guests have noted, it is impeccably kept, beautifully furnished, and has a great floor plan. The bathroom was bigger than expected. The down comforters on the beds so cozy. The appliances in the kitchen - high end. The cathedral ceiling in the great room along with ceiling to floor windows gave the place a buoyant loftiness. The views of the harbor and Snaefellsjokul Glacier were magnificent. We had at least 3 gorgeous sunsets during our week's stay.

Favorite places in Hafnarfjordur: Tilveran Restaurant, Hort Daglegt Braud Bakery and coffeeshop, Sufistinn Kaffihus, Frida jewelry gallery. Also, not to be missed is the Hafnarfjordur Museum. Remarkably well done exhibits peppered with clever electronic media displays. It's free. Make sure you ask to see the Bjarni Silvertson house, too, next to the main museum. Everything is literally within walking distance of Nordurbakki 25D.

Depending on how long you can stay, a trip to Snaefellsjokul Glacier is well worth your time - a powerful place. We enjoyed exploring the Reykjanes Peninsula even more than the Golden Circle which is heavily touristed. The two best spots on the Golden Circle are Gullfoss and Pingvallir. The Tourist Info in Hafnarfjordur will give you great guides to the Reykjanes Peninsula. Info is across the street from Sufistinn Kaffihus.

Last, but not least, the Blue Lagoon is not to be missed. Yes, it's touristy. Yes, it's pricey. But, accoridng to National Geographic, it is one of the 25 Wonders of the World and well worth the admission. You will marvel at the high tech spa experience. Iceland is a geothermal wonderland. We have never visited an ecologically cleaner, greener place. To be able to experience all of this from a true 'home away from home' made it all the more special. Thank you, Johanna! We sincerely hope to return some day.

We had the great fortune of staying in this beautiful apartment during our first visit to Iceland. The apartment is incredible! Johanna met us upon arrival and welcomed us warmly. The weather during our visit was very cool and sunny but the apartment was continuously warm and very comfortable. The panoramic windows provide a heartstopping view of the harbor. We especially loved visiting the Snaeffellsjokall peninsula. There is a very charming restaurant on the coastline near the wonderful visitors center. It is Fjoruhusid! Order the fish soup. Take the time to commune with the beautiful and affable horses. Nearby you can explore the Reykjanes Peninsula which feels very lunar. There are steam vents everywhere but a favorite place to see volcanic activity is Seltun. We had a memorable visit to the cliffs of Krysavikurberg. It is extraordinary and home to the largest colony of sea birds. Be prepared for gale force winds! Of course we loved splashing around in the famed Blaa Lonio on our last day. All this to see and know you're going back to a wonderful place and relax and enjoy the beauty of Hafnarfjordur and be the lucky guests of Johanna!

This apartment is fantastic and exactly as the description and others reviews describe it. Our family of four is really enjoying it. The picture windows overlooking the ocean are beautiful and very relaxing. The apartment is super clean, the beds are very comfortable and it is outfitted with everything you might want.

While it's a short drive to Reykjavik (which we like) there are places to eat just a few blocks away. There is a coffee shop very close and an ice cream shop that ,y daughter and I visit each night. The apartment is a short drive the the airport, too.

I highly recommend!

My wife and I spent a week at the condo. It was a fantastic place to stay. It has everything you need and was clean, modern and quiet. We intend to come back again later this summer and will definitely stay here again. It beats staying at noisy crammed hotels any day.

My family & I had a fabulous stay at Johanna's penthouse apartment.
We had everything we needed there, it was immaculately clean, spacious and very inviting. All cooking / bedding & wash facilities were provided, even dressing gowns :0)
We stayed over the Christmas period & Johanna had put a xmas tree & present in the apartment which was the icing on the cake.
The apartment has stunning views and 3 separate balcony areas.

The location of the apartment is about a 10min drive outside the city center of Reykjavik with it's own parking area.
I would recommend a hire car if you go, we used Blue Car Rental which were the cheapest and they were very helpful.

Our family had a fantastic time in Iceland and is not a place to be missed, we booked excursions with Arctic Adventures & done the Blue Ice tour, Horse riding around the Lava Fields plus the Golden Circle Tour with Snowmobiling which was amazing. Also traveled to the Blue Lagoon which was very special.

Thank you Johanna for a marvelous stay we are hoping to go back to the apartment in the summer, maybe get to use the Barbecue on the roof terrace this time :0)

My family & I always stay in self catering & this is the best stay we have
had by far in 23 years! Worth every penny.

We booked this accommodation due to the pictures which looked excellent and because we wanted a sea view. It was actually better than it looked in the pictures.

What really made the apartment excellent was the very friendly and very responsive owner Johanna who is a delight to deal with.

It was a 5 day break in Iceland to celebrate my wife's 40th birthday. I had never been to Iceland before but this was not a problem as Johanna gave all the information I needed and wanted to make the trip an absolute dream. She really was brilliant!

The view from the apartment was great and would be lovely in summer where you could enjoy a sea view barbeque in the roof top area.

The apartment has everything you need. It was very clean and all the facilities are modern, high quality standard, e.g. massive Sony flat screen TV. There is a drawer full of information on what/where to go in Iceland. Heating is on all the time - Johanna met us and showed us around on arrival and told us if we were too warm to "open the windows"! Very cosy - there's even a modern ethanol fireplace if you want romance!

There is a great restaurant within a 5 minute walk called the Old Winehouse but there are another 4/5 good places within seconds from this restaurant. There is a shopping centre near the restaurant with a great bakery and a supermarket and a wine store...;-)

Would we come back? 110% yes - no qualms. We could not have been happier. Thanks Johanna!
