Peaceful retreat away from NYC but not too far from good pizza

Amazing. We lucked out with the unseasonably warm March 2012 weather so we could take full advantage of all the amenities this house has to offer. Bonfires by the lake, gently drifting on the canoe, tossing horseshoes, shooting hoops, and whacking baseballs as hard as you can hit 'em are some of the many things me and some of my friends did on the premises. Half of us came up from NYC via MetroNorth to ShoreLineEast to Guilford. From the train station to the house is a mere $20 cab ride. Oh, and Guilford is only a hop, skip, and a jump from great New Haven pizza (Pepe's, Sally's, Modern, and Bar to name four). The owner is very nice and easily accessible and even has a caretaker in the apt below the house available for emergencies, etc. This was supposed to be a once-in-a-lifetime thing but a couple of my friends enjoyed the location so much we're talking about making it an annual mission.
