Tamarack – Modern, spacious, comfortable. 2-bedroom, 2-bathroom apartments designed to capture the wonderful, cooling, south-easterly Atlantic breezes. Minutes walk to beautiful, uncrowded beaches. Laundry area with washer/dryer and ceiling fans throughout for your comfort. 10-15 minutes drive from airport and local amenities. With its rugged, beautiful scenery the quiet and friendly Belair neighborhood is a welcome change from the hustle and bustle of the south and west coasts. Come and enjoy the beautiful south-east coast of Barbados where “bajans” choose to vacation. For larger groups or family re-unions we can recommend several similar properties nearby.

In recent years, the Belair neighbourhood in the parish of St. Philip has seen several new residential developments. Many of the homes are available as vacation rentals offering visitors a chance to experience the tranquility of St. Philip. They are built in a variety of styles and stylishly furnished. Spacious living areas ensure that you never feel crowded. The homes are generally quite large and can accommodate families or small groups of friends.Perhaps one of the great benefits of the vacation homes in St. Philip is that they offer an affordable accommodation option when staying in Barbados. The rugged, coastal scenery is breathtaking and you can watch the sun come up over the eastern atlantic ocean from the cliffside. Come and enjoy the warmth of this beautiful parish and its people.

10 minutes from the airport and easy access to the main highway.

10 minutes to Six Roads shopping complex where you will find Emerald City, a large well stocked supermarket, banks, post office, DVD rentals, clothing and shoe stores, gas station, Chefette (fast food pizza, burger, chicken and ice cream), and a chinese restaurant.

5 minutes to the Crane Resort and shops at Crane Village and Cutters Restaurant.

Walking distance to a local shop with a small selection of dairy products, bread, groceries, liquor, pop, beer, newspapers.

Nice place and reasonably priced for what you get

You can tell what a place is going to be like when the owner is very much on the ball with communicating with you from the offset. Everything we needed to know was answered by Jane beforehand extremely efficiently and professionally. The Property Manager Lulu was also extremely helpful, friendly and also a good point of contact during the stay. The place was nice and clean and had everything you require. Great balconies, breezy, great kitchen etc. Nice idea with the outside shower too. We didn't have a car at the beginning of our holiday, it can be quiet difficult to get around easily in the heat as the house is very much located in a residential area, even though the bus stop is approx 7 mins up the road. We did have a 2 year old with us and forgot our stroller! So, having a vehicle is advantageous as it is only a 10 min drive to/from the airport. There is no sea views from the house as it is blocked by the houses in the front nor is there a pool. We knew this to be the case beforehand, but still disappointing once you are there in the heat and beauty. However, I am sure this is reflected on the pricing of the apartments, so all in all we would still say that we got good value. The small beach 2 mins away is too rough to swim in but good to walk on. There is also a convenient store and bar near the bus stop. If all these things sound good then I would recommend Tamarack.

What a delight!

What a delight to arrive in paradise only to find that the bungalow we rented was as charming as the island itself. From the practicality of a fully equipped kitchen, washer & dryer, two very good size bedrooms, and two full baths, to a patio that almost doubled the interior common space that amplified the sound of the crashing ocean waves only one short block from the house. The authenticity of staying in a neighborhood with all the accomplished locals really added to the richness of the experience...something that tourists who stay in the resorts just don't get to experience. The highlight, by far, was the fact that we could walk to secluded beaches only two minutes from the house, complete with unbelievable rock cliffs and cave-like features...and all accessible with the stair access to these pockets of paradise. The convenience of The Crane Resort and the public access to Crane Beach with great waves, clear water, and no undercurrent (and the only east coast beach where you can swim because the other east coast beaches are too rough for swimming) was priceless. Hint: when you're at the beach, make sure to take advantage of the beach delivery service offered by Cutters ( www.cutters.bb )....best flying fish sandwich and rum punch on the island! Thanks Roger! To top it off, Jane was a gracious host, always available for matters around the house or "insider" advice on activities on the island. We couldn't have been happier with our choice of housing options. We will definitely be back!

Hidden gem in Barbados super close to beach

There are not enough words to describe our wonderful experience at Tamarack. Both the owner and property manager were extremely kind, attentive, and professional throughout our month long stay at the duplex. We traveled all the way from Oregon to Barbados with two young children and were thrilled with Tamarack's location (quiet upscale residential neighborhood, very friendly) and amenities were great (gourmet kitchen fully stocked, comfortable beds, plush towels, large flat screen tv, Wi-Fi, phone, etc) From lounging in the hammock to using the outdoor shower after the beach, Tamarack couldn't have met our needs better. Highly recommend renting a car to explore the island and bringing lots of snacks, coffee, toiletries, etc. as these items are expensive on Barbados. The best part is you may have green monkeys jumping from tree to tree looking for bananas as we did. Many thanks Jane and Lu, we will be back soon!

Great Holiday!

My husband and baby and I stayed here a week recently and we very much enjoyed it. The property manager was extremely helpful and prompt. For example when our kettle broke she had a new one waiting for us the same day when we got back to the apartment. The apartment is large enough for an entire family and the verandah is also very relaxing. The beaches nearby are beautiful and it is a short drive to either the west or east coasts. We would definitely recommend this holiday property to others!

Awesome apartment by the best beach in Barbados!

We recently stayed at Tamarack and thoroughly enjoyed the apartment and its location. It was really spacious, modern and clean and had all the luxuries and mod cons you could want. It was great to everything from wifi to laundry facilities, which made it feel like a home from home. It is in a residential area, so you definitely need a car, but it's right by the best beach on the island, Crane Beach, which is stunningly beautiful and great fun when the waves are big! There's a supermarket nearby and it's so easy to get around by car, we found the location was fine. It was nice and quiet and gave us a good taste of real Bajan living, away from the hustle and bustle of the west coast. Would throughly recommend this apartment to anyone considering it, Kate & Olie

Beautiful, spacious, airy and safe!

This apartment was the most luxurious stay I ever had for this money. I was in the process to move into my own house (in the same neighborhood), but the construction was delayed and I needed to accomodate my guests. We were really lucky to find a vacancy in that particular week.

I absolutely loved the space, the comfort and layout. The kitchen is huge and the wide front door opens to the terrace that became our second living room.

There is no need for air-condition. The breeze is always there. I never even had to turn on the ceiling fan.

Every morning I took a swim at the beach, that is almost in front of the house. The waves could be rough at times, so I would not recommend for everyone.

Jane and Belinda are the sweetest ladies I have met on the island. I would recommend this rental to everyone.

Thank you!

The gardens are lovely and the property is in walking distance to the beach. This is an ideal place to spend your vacation. The property managers are friendly and made us feel at home and comfortable. We stayed in the upper level which gave us a good view of the area and we enjoyed the ocean breezes is the evenings. This is my second time visiting Tamarack. This property offers such value for money. It has everything. So close to local beaches, just a stroll away. A short walk from the bus stop and local store. The neighborhood is safe and friendly.

The property contains everything one needs for a stay. The kitchen is so well stocked. It's the best i've seen in a vacation property. It has everything.

I loved the breeze that blows in Bellair.... it's very welcomed.

Jane and Belinda ensure that everything is taken care of, both are very friendly. Thx Jane

Fantastic Time at Tamarack

Just returned from a fantastic stay at Tamarack in Barbados! We were attending a wedding right on the same street as this apartment so we were very lucky to obtain such wonderful accommodations. The owners of this rental are super nice and very very helpful. They made the booking and our stay very smooth and enjoyable indeed. Every single thing it promises....this property delivers! It is in a wonderful location with just a short walk to the water. It is in a very safe area with many lovely homes in the immediate vicinity too. We rented a car at the airport and it is only about 10 minutes to a well stocked grocery store. This apartment/villa is absolutely beautiful with high end finishings......we were VERY pleased. Although no central air, there are new ceiling fans in each room and floor fans as well.....all of these helped to cool us down! It is extremely spacious and has all amenities you could possibly need. It is SPOTLESS and very well cared for. Lawn care is well maintained too and there are plenty of tables and chairs on the front porch area for your enjoyment. If you are looking for a fantastic place to stay in the Bel Air area of Barbados...we HIGHLY recommend this rental. As we said, the owners are wonderful and made our stay a BREEZE!!!

Ready for our next stay at Tamarack

5 of 5
Submitted: July 1, 2012 Stayed: June 2012
We had a wonderful time at Tamarack. We stayed for two weeks, but definitely needed at least four. Several mornings, we walked literally one minute over to the beach and watched the sun rise. We walked a little further down and let the children enjoy the calmer water. We have already recommended Tamarack to family and friends considering a vacation in Barbados.

The property was very clean, fresh, and looked to be new. The layout was ideal for us - myself, my wife, two children (2,4) and mother-in law - and quite comfortable. The full kitchen (we cooked A LOT) was very helpful and the washer/dryer more than nice. There were plenty of fans to help keep the children cool even if we had the windows closed. We closed the windows at dusk to try to avoid the local mosquitoes. Mosquito repellent devices were available in each bedroom. However, we still brought lots of spray repellant, botanical repellent wipes, and various other household repellent solutions (in our checked bags) and were happy we did so. Screens aren't as common on the island as they are in the US or Canada (we heard it limits the ocean breeze), so you can expect plenty of buzzing around. We saw very FEW bugs in or around the property - which was nice. From what we understand, the owner has the area treated regularly.

Renting a car is ideal but not required. We rented a car for part of our stay and explored bus routes on the other. Both were quite eventful.

Jane (owner) was very responsive and gave us lots of good resources and information before and during our stay.

The front area of the apartment is almost completely enclosed so we were able to sit on the porch and watch the children play.

The people at the daycare nearby are VERY nice.

Use the LOCAL cell phone (digital). Place your phone on airplane before you even LEAVE your country of origin.

Bring your GPS (make sure it is updated) or rent one locally - getting directions is more comical than it is helpful - but most people are still nice enough to try to help.

Oiston's on Friday night appears to be the place to be for a night out on the town. It's also a great place to get fresh flying fish (to cook at home). Don't bother trying to buy American or European ice cream while on the island and bring as much of your own food as possible to cut down on the sticker shock in the grocery store.

It was an excellent trip. We hope we can manage to make it something we do annually.

Paul and Leslie
