Our beautiful cedar ski chalet, where we lived for over 10 years, is privately nestled among evergreen tress and yet only 6 miles from Montpelier. The cultural center of Central Vermont, Montpelier is home to many great restaurants, theaters, live music venues, and numerous other cultural events. Our large open kitchen and cathedral ceiling are great for evening meals while listening to music. The spacious living room has a magnificent view of sunsets over Hunger and Worcester mountains, with hiking trails nearby. The sound of a brook running through the backyard lulls us to sleep. On cold nights, radiant floor heat keeps our feet toasty. Outside lies a fire pit for evening bonfires. One mile from the house is the Wrightsville reservoir, a large lake suitable for canoe, kayaking, swimming, snowshoeing, cross country skiing, and ice skating. Most ski areas are one hour or less away (Bolton, Stowe, Mad River, Sugarbush). Cross-country skiing area is a five mile drive away. Burlington and Lake Champlain are 1 hour away. Nearby are Goddard College, Norwich University, and New England Culinary Institute which operates two restaurants in town. We have accommodations for groups up to 8; contact us for details. Only Verizon phones work here.
I am a semi retired chocolatier. My partner Jackie is a retired reading specialist. Having moved into town, we are renting our country house. It would make a perfect Vermont getaway.
70 arces of conserved land mostly wooded with lots of wildlife. The house is quiet and peaceful, the woods are a refuge and the city is a stone's throw away.
3 floors give each room in the house some privacy and yet the open living room and kitchen provide a place to gather.
