much to offer
Our motley crew included naturists, beachcombers, & those not fond of sand. And, we all had a great time!
Check-in process is simple & easy.
The home is lovely, and the perfect distance from the beach/bay, and close to Rehoboth.
The home appears to be well cared for, but was not super-clean upon our arrival. Previous guests must have left a mess, apparently more than the housekeeper could manage during the 5-hour turnover time. Everything was neat, but bathroom floors had quite a bit of hair, and just about every surface in the kitchen was sticky. Half-eaten jar of salsa in the fridge, and petrifiied peas and bread all over the counters were a few of the low-lights. The rest of the common areas were clean and tidy.
After cleaning up the previous guests' mess we were able to enjoy the many, many assets of this property (listed, in no particular order):
-roomy floor plan
-fantastic crow's nest
-friendly and responsive owners
-linens! nice sheets with extra sets, plenty of bath and beach towels, no need to bring a thing!
-location. best in Broadkill!
-garage. HUGE. storage area for your rafts, bikes, and all the other things you don't want to tote inside.
-private outdoor shower
-comfortable beds (though the masters are up HIGH)
-HUGE walk-in closet in second floor master. we used it as our 2-year-old's bedroom. perfect!
-wifi
-TWO screened porches. you'll love them after sunset!
-three nice bathrooms, plus a powder room
-did i mention location???
-kayaks. awesome!
-sand toys, floats, tubes, bikes, and even a shovel. pack light! chill-a-while has got you covered.
-across-the-street neighbors are more than happy to chat, you can glean some good information from them.
-Broadkill beach! YES, you will get bitten by mosquitoes and other flying nasties while you're here. But the beach is a real charmer, and well worth the itching! Check weather reports for wind speed & direction, a good breeze off the bay keeps the buggies away :) bring your bug spray, and enjoy!
a few caveats:
-noise travels between rooms/floors. bring fans or other white noise for light sleepers.
-one tv. not a problem for us, but might be for some.
-garbage. goes on monday. which means looking at full, smelly cans for two days.
-bikes are suitable for two adults and one older child (say, age 10+). that third bike was an awkward size for our group, glad we brought a couple of our own.
-beach is stony. bring surf shoes
