About Jessica

As the new owners in March of 2010, we have done many renovations and updates! Our passion for the area and the beauty around us is hard to contain and we want to share that excitement. After 12 years in offices, we LOVE being outdoors, helping you experience just WHY we would move to this incredible place. We wanted to be as remote as possible, but still have all the conveniences of home, like high speed internet, easy healthcare and a relaxed PURA VIDA life :)

Jessica purchased this bungalow in 2010
Why Jessica chose Puerto Viejo

A one hour walk through the gorgeous beaches and down through the coral pools where you can experience little 'finding nemo' fish starting just 150 meters from your front door will convince a non-believer of the magic of this place. For the actual 5 bungalows....we have seen all manner of birds and animals...a nature lovers paradise from your front porch.

What makes this bungalow unique

We are highly connected to all the best tour operators in the area and can book anything your heart desires. If you like to surf, you are just minutes from an internationally recognize swell...however in front of the property is generally calm waves to play and swim in....or snorkel!

Excellent resort with wonderful hosts!!

My now fiancé and I had the privilege of staying at Caribe Town for 10 days in late April and I can honestly say it was everything we had hoped for and more! The owners, Jessica and Marc, along with Carlos went above and beyond what was expected to ensure that our stay was perfect from beginning to the end. Here’s our story:

Unbeknownst to my girlfriend at the time, I was secretly planning our engagement to take place during our trip to Costa Rica. After exhausting some resources on my own, I reached out to Jessica and team to see if they would be interested or could help in the planning of our special day. Not only did Jessica agree to help she seemed genuinely excited to be part of our big day. After exchanging emails for almost two months prior to our trip, Jessica and Marc had outlined the most amazing day completely catered to my ideas on how I wanted to pop the question!

The day started out like any other day at Caribe Town, with an awesome breakfast and excellent coffee. We then set off for horse back riding with Bruce at Playa Chiquita Riding Adventures. Once back at Caribe Town we got ready for what I told my girlfriend was a special dinner at the resort. She thought it was “special” because dinner is not something Caribe Town offers. After a quick drink at the bar, we were lead to the beach directly across the street. Once we got to the beach, she saw the bamboo cabana that Marc had constructed and setup earlier that day. There was a candle lit path on the beach and the cabana was beautifully decorated with candles and fresh flowers. What followed was an amazing meal prepared by Marc and Jessica. If you ever get a chance to enjoy a meal prepared by Marc, do NOT turn it down! Dinner was followed with chocolate desserts from Bread and Chocolate in Puerto Viejo and at this point my girlfriend was a nervous wreck waiting for me to ask the question. With Jessica’s help, I had one more surprise setup, FIREWORKS!! Yes, Jessica actually found and arranged a pyrotechnic company to put on a fireworks show on the beach as a backdrop for me to ask the big question. She said yes and it’s a day that neither of use will ever forget!

Its in no way a stretch to say that non of this would have been possible without Jessica, Marc and Carlos’s help! We both felt extremely lucky that not only did we find an amazing gem of a resort in the jungle of Costa Rica but we had the most amazing hosts and left with what we consider friends for life!!

Patricia and I stayed with Jessica and friends for one month. We fell in love with the Caribbean side and Jessica's commitment to service. The big question of the day when you walk the short path to the beach, "right or left?" What a treat Caribe Town is and the persistent, consistent comfort made possible for our entire month by Jessica and crew. Thank you. See you again next January!

Awesome place to stay near Puerto Viejo

I would highly suggest this place to anyone traveling to Puerto Viejo. Short bike to the town, very short walk to Playa Cocles, and short drive to Manzanillo! Breakfast was awesome. Jessica & co were very helpful and accomodating to both me and my boyfriend. I suggest ordering a Pina Colada from Jessica when you arrive to Caribe Town. Can't wait to come back!

A perfect Caribbean Getaway

Our weekend at Caribe Town was perfect. From the moment we arrived until the moment we left, it was a great experience.

The resort is just across the road from Playa Cocles for easy beach access, but is a private, secluded jungle setting.

Our cabin was excellent, very private and featured a new, super comfortable mattress - not something you'll always find in Costa Rica. The pool was clean and a great way to cool down and relax after a hot day. And then you have a fridge, bbq and cooking area if you're interested in buying your own food and cooking at the resort.

However, you'd miss out on the many great restaurants in the area such as Pecora Nera which is only a few hundred meters away, and El Refugio Grill which is about 10 minutes down the road, heading to Manzanillo.

The current innkeepers, Pierre and Marise, were absolutely wonderful hosts for our three nights and served a great breakfast every morning too. My girlfriend and I had plans to go to a restaurant one of our mornings but the breakfasts here were so good we decided to stay at Caribe Town every morning.

The resort is also only about 800 meters away from the Jaguar Rescue Center, a must-visit tourist attraction to play with the monkeys.

We couldn't have been happier with our selection of Caribe Town. I definitely recommend staying a bit further south Puerto Viejo where there are better restaurants, better restaurants and better beaches.

We could not have been happier with our stay at Hotel Caribe Town. The property is beautiful, the breakfasts were fantastic, and the property managers were great hosts that made it seem more like staying with friends than at a hotel, and also greatly enhanced our trip with occasional tours, and connections to other great tour guides and activities.

Amazing Location, Excellent Service

I couldn't have been happier with my stay at the Caribe Town Resort. Most notable of my stay was the excellent services provided by the delightful caretakers who prepared delicious breakfasts and were more than willing to help us with anything we needed. Especially having never been to Costa Rica before, our hosts helped us with everything we needed including showing us around, recommending restaurants and arranging taxis and other services. The owners helped book several tours in the area (ziplining and horseback riding) and also helped us arrange a private van for transportation from the airport.

The location is great with only a few minute walk from the beach. Restaurants are spread out all around the area and downtown Puerto Viejo is about a 40 minute walk north, or a quicker trip with the resorts bikes or a 5 minute cab ride. The resort itself is quite secluded, with a beautiful variety of plantlife and wildlife in the area and it is very well maintained. Cabins included their own bathroom and ours had an AC which made the nights very comfortable. Caribe Town was perfect for a relaxing but fun Caribbean vacation and I very much look forward to returning.

My partner and I waited a year for this vacation and Caribe Town made it the best worth wait ever. We arrived after a day of travel and were thrilled to sit with the jets and waterfall in the salt water pool and SO needed the frozen fabulous beverage we were served. The rest of the trip was like this. Everything we needed was taken care of almost before we asked. The rooms were cute and clean, but we spent most of our time in the pool or bar....or spa! Fabulous. We plan to return as often as possible, just for the breakfast alone. The owner made papaya jam from fruit grown on the property while we were there and my partner and I are Caribe Town converts for life!

I really liked vacationing at CaribeTown. The resort was a sprinkling of bungalows, amongst beautiful jungle foliage. It's rooms were clean with full baths, and offered airconditioning. Their kitchen menu served up fresh tasty dishes and hot breakfast. I loved relaxing in the salt-water pool and having a cocktail at the swim-up bar. CaribeTown is also in a good location with a plethera of activities available close by. Besides on-site spa services, cycling rentals, and beach-combing activities, there were adventure-lover activities in sky-lining or scuba-diving, nature activities like the sloth sanctuary and jungle tours, and of course relaxing in the sun and on the beach. Shopping in the nearby towns, including night-life dancing and music, and sight-seeing were also right at hand. I can't wait to go back.

March Trip to Puerto Viejo: CaribeTown Resort

I vacationed at CaribeTown, Puerto Viejo in March for 10 days and had an amazing time. Flying in to San Jose was easy from the east cost. I got a ticket for a reasonable price on JetBlue. The trip to CaribeTown from San Jose was a scenic tour through the city and the Costa Rican jungle; on the way to paradise. My private bungalow had airconditioning, and two double beds - enough for 4, and one on the floor! It was clean and comfortable, with a full bath and hot shower. Food and Drinks are fresh and delicious. I loved the pool and swim up bar - HEAVEN!! The beach is a 2 minute walk away from the resort gate. The service was great, and the staff took care of everything. I plan to go back again this year.
