Lovely home in a great location -- would happily stay here again!
Enjoyed a week at this guest house with my wife and 3 kids (age 9, 11, 13). The guest house is at the rear of the property, at the opposite end of the pool from the main house. And if you're wondering from the images: yes, the guest house is the entire building that's visible in the photos. The entrance is through the left-hand doors; the other doors open directly onto the pool deck from 2 of the bedrooms.
Hosts Ada and Gus were very welcoming. At most times, we felt we had the place to ourselves. But they were always available for occasional questions either in-person (a knock on their door) or by phone, and had lots of helpful suggestions for the area.
The location is fantastic. Just a few minutes by car to US1. Grocery stores such as Publix and Whole Foods within 10 minutes. But the home is in a very quiet and upscale neighbourhood, so the setting is peaceful despite its proximity to stores and major routes.
The home itself is very clean and well equipped. The kitchen, living room, and master bedroom are all enormous. Lots of fresh towels and linens, a well stocked kitchen, and plenty of channels on the big satellite TV. Wireless internet is available, but I'm guessing the router is in the main house because the signal is quite weak. I managed to connect from the kitchen, but not at full strength. Signal was great on the pool deck.
There are a few quirks worth mentioning about the layout of this home. The bathroom is lovely but accessible only through the bedrooms. It's also quite small with only a shower (no bathtub), and no shelf or counter on which to store toiletries. The bathroom has two doors, one from the master bedroom and one from the second bedroom. Which leads to the other layout quirk: the second bedroom is accessible only by walking through the third bedroom, which is located directly off the kitchen and has no door. So this third bedroom isn't a great choice for someone who's a light sleeper.
The layout quirks were a bit surprising, but they didn't pose any serious issues for us. We just kept quiet after our oldest went to bed each night. We enjoyed our stay very much and would happily return next time we're in Miami.
