Edgemere is a fully appointed, completely renovated West Coast home on a secluded beach. The house is close to the Nanaimo ferries and a short float plane ride from Vancouver. The house is centrally located for your Vancouver Island adventure - Victoria and Nanaimo to the south, Mount Washington (skiing), Courtney, Comox, Campbell River and many smaller islands to the north. Enjoy a short cross island drive to Cathedral Grove (a fabulous old-growth forest), Uclulet (fishing, whale watching) and Tofino (Pacific Rim National Park, surfing and whale watching). The kids will enjoy mini-golf, fossil hunting and sandcastle building just 10 minutes away in Parksville/Qualicum Beach, and chasing the bunnies at Rathrevor Park.
From the beach or large west-facing windows, watch the cruise ships sail up the Georgia Strait, enjoy the antics of the seals, and marvel at the majesty of eagles. Explore the tidal pools and pick shells on the pebble beach. On sunny afternoons, the beach rocks warm the water and the swimming is perfect. Charter a fishing boat and catch a salmon for dinner. Relax with a glass of BC wine and watch the sun set on the beach. Golf at nearby Fairwinds golf course or hike the many paths around the course and pick blackberries in season. Enjoy fine dining at the marina and golf course.
Architect-designed, the house flows naturally down the cliff towards the water and provides excellent views of the Georgia Strait and islands from the living rooms and the deck. The layout provides private sleeping areas away from the dining areas, main and lower living areas. The two larger bedrooms, one with two double beds and one with a king size bed, have double doors opening on to the deck. The third bedroom, with a queen-size bed, has an en-suite bathroom. The open-concept kitchen and main floors are perfect for cooking and entertaining. Enjoy a barbeque or catch some sun on the adjoining sunny 800-square foot deck. The “eagle’s nest” in the front window is a perfect vantage point for watching storms, wild life, reading or just napping.

I'm a Toronto professional who has enjoyed the tranquility, mild weather and outdoor activities of the West Coast for more than 20 years. My sons enjoy fishing, whale watching and golf. I enjoy exploring the smaller islands, hiking, trying local wines, and relaxing by the water's edge.
Friends in the area, the laid-back lifestlye and the micro-climate of Nanoose Bay (we can grow figs and fuchsia!), which is drier than other areas of British Columbia, drew me to Nanoose Bay.
For those who prefer to relax indoors, you will feel as if you on the deck of a ship overlooking the sea. You are steps to a quiet, secluded beach and close to many amenities.
