Very Bad Experience
Listing description was accurate regarding location close to beach. Pool not clean when we arrived. Was cleaned 2 days later. Downstairs refrigerator had no ice maker and 1 ice cube tray with hole in it. No garbage disposal in downstairs kitchen. Upstairs refrigerater's ice maker did not work. Upstairs garbage disposal did not work. Top sheets were not put on all 3 sets of bunk beds and DIRTY comforters laid on the clean bottom sheets. When requesting clean sheets, Southern Resorts Management Company said it was too late in day to get them and we had to wash sheets from 3 sets of bunk beds. When requesting ice cube trays, 3 days later Southern Resorts said they had none. First floor of home flooded on Wednesday morning around 8:30A.M. After hourly calls to Southern resorts, they finally sent someone out around 12:30 after we had cleaned up the water with 1 small mop, no buckets, and all available bath towels. After requesting clean towels to replace "flood soiled ones" at 9:00 A.M., they finally brought them around 4:30 P.M. Last 3 days of our vacation were ruined due to several noisy, large fans used to dry house that produced heat up to 90 degrees on the lower level of the house. Part of the ceiling in lower level kitchen was missing. (Found it laying in back yard by pool).
On a brighter note, owner aided in helping us secure a partial refund of our rent for the week from management company--however not nearly the amount we would consider fair in light of all of the problems we encountered.
Ultimately, we would not recommend this property to a friend or relative unless some major maintenance work was done like regrading the outside to prevent future flooding, adding some lighting in lower level kitchen and bathroom shower (very dark), and getting a new management company. We will never rent a home managed by Southern Resorts again.
Owner's Response: Thank you so much for your comments. We take these reviews very seriously and have made significant changes to prevent experiences like this one from happening in the future. While we could not prevent the flood, the service form the management company was controllable. We have since discontinued working with this agency and are very happy with the one we have on board now. All repairs have been made to the property and our agency is terrific. We now it can be difficult booking a property without having seen it, but rest assured we take our business seriously and work hard to ensure a pleasant stay for renters.
