When my daughter's Mother-in-law and I found out we were going to be grandmas to twins , we asked our kids to look for a place we could both rent near them in Hood River. They found this cute house in Bingen and took a look at it. It was only 5 miles away across the bridge and we said it looked great so we follwed thru with a long term rental agreement with Denise. When the babies arrived 2 months early we made plans for our long stay in Oregon. Over the next 5 months we took turns or both stayed in the house driving across the bridge to help out with the newborns.
My sister drove up with me from Ca. and our first night there we both heard the train and loved it ,saying it reminded us of our grandparents house. The house was very comfortable and peaceful.The drive over the Columbia river into Hood River was beautiful , with the snow capped mountains. We stayed over the Xmas holidays and the town was so pretty all lit up at night. I even brought some of my Xmas decorations because my husband came up over the holidays to meet his granddaughters.
We found a great pizza place that became a favorite to us. There's also a great Burger place in town.
I can't say enough about our stay there. It became our home and I told Denise I'd buy the place from her if she was selling! I'd love to return next year.
I would definately recommend this house to friends & family. It's truely a great find.

We spent a long holiday weekend in Bingen and had a very nice time. The house is cute and comfortable with a nice deck and garden to enjoy. It is close to nice hiking, and the town is pleasant for walking - down to the river, a coffee house, or wine tasting. The owner is friendly, welcoming and responsive - clearly wanting her guests to have a good experience.

There are only a couple of things that I felt detracted a bit. The bed in the second bedroom is a futon, which is not all that comfortable. And, as mentioned in a previous post, you do hear the trains going by. So, if you are a light sleeper, I would bring earplugs or a white noise machine.

In the scheme of things, those were minor annoyances. But, it is why I gave it 4 (rather than 5) stars.

We did enjoy our stay and found the owner delightful.

This property was perfect place to stay for use as the hub of our trip in and around Washington & Oregon. It was spotlessly clean & had all the amenities required. The arrival went off without a hitch. Denise was very friendly & gave us plenty of information regarding the surrounding attractions, restaurants & wineries. The weather during our stay was exceptionally hot. I would recommend that an air conditioner be installed. That way the windows could be kept closed & reduce the noise from the trains. All in all, this was a fantastic find & would recommend it to anyone who wanted to see Hood river & surrounding area.

As we reluctantly depart this great little vacation find- we (80 year olds from Oklahoma) want to recommend Denise -(honest-fair-fun) and this charming perch high on a cool hill along the Columbia river. We have rented places from Maine to the Mississippi gulf--vermont, Colorado etc--stay here--you will love it. It was clean, comfortable--good kitchen--quiet - not as swanky as nearby Hood River and not as pricey or noisy. You'll be glad you did.

I rarely write reviews but I fell in love this "gem". My husband and I stayed here in July for three nights and we were so impressed. This is the perfect location for a quiet get-away from the daily stresses of big city life with no distractions.

This newly renovated home is perfectly appointed with all the amenities and most importantly "very very clean". The huge outdoor deck was the "ultimate" we have so many fond memories sitting there whether it was relaxing in the sun, BBQ'g or indulging on some late nights snacks and wines from the region. I cannot remember the last time I slept so well. One big "plus" was the sound of the train that we heard - it really took us back to our childhood.

On a final/important note - the owner Denise is very meticulous and we were so impressed. Her attention to detail really made us feel at home. We would definitely recommend this home to anyone seeking a quiet get-away.

My wife and I loved staying both in the gorge and this very nice vacation home. The web site gives a good sense of the property and it is well located for all the great activities the gorge has to offer. We couldn't imagine a better place to stay and the deck is amazing.

Denise - thanks again for providing us with all the comforts of home during our 12 day stay on the Gorge. I don't know that I could had gotten any better price, comfort and amenities in Hood River. It was just perfect for what we needed - so well maintained, clean, and well-furnished. Everything was so easy to get to, and to our delight, we found a number of places with great food in Bingen and in White Salmon. My son (who thanks you for having the big-screen and HBO) and I traveled over 1500 miles during our stay and what a delight it was being able to be "home" each night for some serious down time. We loved sitting on the porch enjoying the cool evening air while watching magnificent sunsets. Thank you for your hospitality and activities advice and for helping Clark and I have the most incredible vacation ever. We cannot wait to get back. The Gorge is the Greatest! All the best.

We absolutely loved this place, except for unexpected awakenings from trains throughout the night. The owner (Denise) is really nice. I would recommend this place to anybody looking for a nicely detailed house with great deck, beautiful kitchen, comfortable bed (IF they are able to sleep through train noise). That was the ONLY problem we had, but it was a problem for us.
