Photos and Description of the Great Exuma vacation house rental
3 dbl bedrooms, 2 bath/shower rm 2 x lounge/diner, 2 x Kitchen

3.5 miles from George Town, off the beaten track on the South, lee side, of the island facing the sun all day long. The water is only 5 feet deep for 1.5 miles (yep, one and a half miles) to the outer cays, at high tide, and ankle deep at low tide. You've never experience this magic until you visited and have walked out to the cays into the sea and looked back at the island. You can spend your days without seeing another soul in the 1 acre property and indulge in the beauty of the view, be it cooling off in the sea, barbecuing on the decking, or lying in the hammocks in the shade with a cocktail.

Beautiful place, but not the house...

We were at seabreeze point in February 2012. Just arrived we entered the apartment on the ground floor and found quite a dead rat on the floor. We climb to the first floor where there are our rooms. The house was dirty and smelled stuffy, the kitchen was in poor condition totally encrusted with limescale, dirty dishes, shower was completely encrusted with limescale, the water that came out was brown and smelled of sewage, the rooms were small and thin. The interior walls did not reach the ceiling as a result there was no privacy (we were two couples ...). There is no tv no internet connection there. We had to clean everything and only thanks to the kindness of neighbors (Mike & Angie) after three days we had clean water. Pretty much the house was closed from December 2011!
Too bad because the house would have cared if it was beautiful.
Excuse my English, I used Google.
Owner's Response: Hmmm, this is interesting. I have received this response 6 months after the guests’ vacation! But nothing had been communicated to me in the meantime. The people referred to as (Mick & Angie), whom complimentary remarks have been made, are the same people who look after, clean and prepare the house prior to guests arriving. Therefore we find it is rather surprising and difficult to believe, that a dead rat was there to greet the guests upon arrival. Having not been there in person upon their arrival, and no previous complaints of the house being 'dirty' as Mick & Angie clean the house prior to any rental, would suggest questioning the expectation and definition of cleanliness. The thickness of the walls and the design of the interior, upper level, walls not reaching the ceiling (because of the building design) are remarks that I find difficult to comprehend as an issue, because the whole house was available and one couple could use the downstairs bedroom, (3 double bedrooms in total) to ensure 'increased privacy' for both couples. The water supplied to the house is from a well that is cut from lime stone, and yes we do get lime scale deposits building up, but these are treated regularly, therefore the remark 'encrusted' in my view is an exaggeration. The smell that has been referred to is the smell of the very low level of sulphur (from the well water), and once the water has been running through taps and toilet used for a very short period upon initial use/arrival, it dissipates quickly, as the well water is supplemented with rainwater captured from the rain harvester. However, the point is noted and the on-going challenge of keeping a home in the tropics continues with joy and a smile. I am very glad that they found the location, place, and house beautiful, as everyone does, and that issues referred to about cleanliness are noted. However, It is a shame that the guest did not contact me directly to discuss this, opposed to posting their review 6 months after their vacation.

Dear Mr. Druitt,

First of all, we'd like to tell you that we had a wonderfull stay on Great Exuma !
I suppose you'd expected that.
We rented a car and tried to discover the island as much as we could and we really think your house
has the best location on the whole island !
Very private, right at the sea, beautifull sunrises, sunsets, ...that's how we had paradise in mind !
Of course, we also did a lot of snorkling and made some boattrips.

Dear Mr. Druitt,

happy new year and thank you so much for letting us stay in your beautiful house. It's been two amazing, relaxing, unforgettable weeks for us. It was great that there was a bbq grill, we used it quite often.
I'd like to ask you to transfer the security deposit back to my paypal account.

Thank you very much again.
Best,
Hubertus

Michael,

I just wanted to thank you so very much for allowing us to stay in your beautiful home - what a place - the view and land is truly paradise. I've never seen more beautiful water in my life we had the most amazing and memorable vacation we've ever had. Mic, Ang, Joshua and Scooby are the ones that made our trip so fabulous. They are very special folks - and we are incredibly grateful to be able to have met them and have them available for all their help. I can't even begin to list all the things they were kind enough to help us with - there were so many!!! From getting the truck for us, a tandem kayak, 2 boats, a trailer - tons of advice on where to go and what to see. But the biggest favor they have helped with is to help us save one of the Bahamian potcakes that we fell in love with. They are truly wonderful and big hearted.

We are looking forward to staying at your home again in the future. Exuma is a magical place and our honeymoon was everything I could have dreamed of.

Thank you so much.

Ps you actually have a French press coffee maker! (and a drip coffee maker)

Kind regards.
Kim
