“Truly Paradise...”

WOW. Where do I start? I have never had service like I had at Tulemar. We were treated as if we were royalty at Tulemar, from our own concierge (Bill) to the bartenders and equipment guys down on the beach and everyone in between. The staff picked us up and took us where we needed to go on site (they also have a couple of restaurants they will shuttle guests to as well, off premises). The views from the private beach and from the infinity pool are like something out of a movie...only better. This place is indescribable. There were never any crowds on the beach. It was quiet and relaxing but also fun and interesting because of the monkeys, sloths, the ability to use the sea kayaks and eat lunch right there on the beach. Our villa was clean, beautiful, had amazing views and a pool. We couldn't have asked for a better experience. I would recommend Tulemar to anyone interested in visiting Manuel Antonio.

“Above and beyond our expectations”

Our family wanted something uniquely Costa Rican in a lush, rain forest setting. We wanted a kitchen and room for our family to spread out. And we wanted to stay in a place where we could walk to restaurants and shops. We got all that and so much more!

The setting - Manuel Antonio is a winding 2 1/2 hour drive from San Jose. Very glad we had an experienced driver navigating the roads! As soon as we pulled into our resort I knew without a doubt the drive was worth it. Tulemar is stunning - lush rain forest gardens and amazing ocean views. The villas are built into the hillside, so everyone has great views. Plenty of restaurants and a good grocery store within walking distance. Even more restaurants toward the public Manuel Antonio beach are just a $4 -6 cab ride away.

We stayed in Nido de Gansos. It literally took my breath away when we walked in and saw the view. The pictures on their website don't do it justice. We liked the location of our villa because it was a quick walk to the main restaurant and an easy hike down to the beach. We always took the shuttle to get back up to our villa though!

The monkeys - We saw more monkeys up close from our villa then we did when we toured Manuel Antonio National Park! We had a group of about 8 squirrel monkeys hanging out and playing on our deck one afternoon for at least 15 minutes! Another morning we had a couple capuchins stop by. We also saw a troupe of howler monkeys swinging across the trees by the beach. Saw two sloths in the trees by the beach as well.

The beach - We spent a good chunk of each day playing in the surf. How amazing to share this beautiful beach with just a handful of families all week! We boogie boarded, kayaked, explored the trails, and lounged in the shade. David took great care of us with shade umbrellas, towels, kayaks, etc. He had the day off our last day there, so we didn't get to say goodbye. Thank you David! And thanks to our concierge Diego for setting us up with stand-up paddle board rentals one morning. That was a blast! Nice to have food and drinks right at the beach too. The kids loved the everything about Tulemar and so did my husband and I. We will definitely be back. Best vacation ever!

“Nido de Gansos, Tulemar...BEST ever!”

My family just returned from a week stay in the fabulous house in Tulemar. I selected Tulemar based on the great TripAdvisor reviews, and it completely lived up to the great reviews, and then some!!!! In addition to the incredible house (more on this later), wonderful beach and amenities in Tulemar, and amazing location in Manuel Antonio, the SERVICE was amazing. Diego (our house manager/concierge) and his lovely, caring team made sure every detail was taken care of.

The communication from when we first reserved the house to our stay was great. We were provided with a list of various activities, grocery fulfillment, transportation options to/from San Jose, and I simply selected that which I was most interested. I received prompt replies and the trip planning was a breeze. Once on the property, Diego and his staff checked in a few times a day, helping us with rides to activities, confirming activities, making reservations, etc. Always with the most delightful attitude and smiles.

The house, Nido de Gansos, is really spectacular. The views from the top floor and pool are even better than the photos. The kitchen was great, and we cooked a few dinners and most breakfasts there. The three bedrooms are all great, as are the bathrooms. The air conditioning was key in the bedrooms, as it was 95 degrees the week we were there.

My kids really loved the beach at Tulemar, and we checked out kayaks and boogie boards several days, and enjoyed the great service from David setting up chairs/umbrellas and getting drinks from the Tiki Bar. They also LOVED seeing all the monkeys and wildlife.

We had many adventures: zip lining with Canopy Safari (my 75 year old mother-in-law even participated); white water rafting on the Saverge River (perfect...adventurous but not too crazy, and the Rafiki Lodge operators were so funny and great); ATV tour through palm grove with Fourtrax (the best part was the stop in Rainmaker Forest); surfing lessons for my 9 year old; photography lessons with my 12 year old (my fav activitiy...Sarah was amazing!); a tour of Manuel Antonio (hot...interesting, but we had seen much of the wildlife by the time we enjoyed this tour). Fav restaurant location for the scenery: El Avion (the boys liked the old C-123 plane)..good food. Fav restaurant for food and service: Agua Azul (amazing! get there at 5pm for good table).

Can't wait to return to Tulemar and Diego's crew. We miss everything already! Many thanks!!!

Perfect Family Trip

Our family of 7 stayed here during spring break. This place is absolute perfection. Our villa Nido was amazing. Three levels of beauty. The villas, beach and pools were beautiful. The staff was very nice and made us feel at home. They took time to stop on our way down to the beach to find a sloth in the trees which were hard to see since the kids mentioned they had been looking to try and see one. We had monkeys on our balcony daily which was the highlight of the stay here for the kids. The private beach is wonderful and so is the bar and grill at the beach. The kids hopped around from one pool to another even though we had our own at Nido. This by far,is the best family vacation we have taken in a very long time. We can't wait to come back!

Nido de Gansos Beautiful Modern Villa

Our family of 5 (adults) spent one wonderful week in this beautiful home in the luxury Tulmar development. The development is outstanding with great service and amazing private beach. The home is on three levels. Top level is living room, kitchen and beautiful infinity pool. FYI - service team recommended we move the dining room table outside near the pool and we did - so much nicer to enjoy meals outside. The second floor is where you enter the home and offers a powder room and foyer. All three bedrooms with private baths are located on lowest level. There is only one TV in the house and that is on the lower level near the bedrooms (not a favorite spot and english speaking channels are limited). Only the bedrooms have AC. That said, you won't get a better view of the monkeys who frequented the trees near the house almost every morning and put on quite the show. Open up the windows and capture video of them leaping from one tree to the next...literally right outside the living room window. Also - the private beach on the property is truly fantastic. Steep walk down the road to the beach (or for those more athletic take the hiking trails). You can also call the resort van for ride and they do come quickly. Also, the service team that takes care of the home and all your needs are top notch! Our favorite - Bill! Restaurants, coffee shop, grocery store are right outside the entrance. There are also restaurants in Tulemar. Thank you Cindy for recommending this villa and Tulemar. It is first class and we will be back.

Wonderful Stay at Nido

  • Submitted: Feb 27, 2014

Had a great stay at villa Nido de Gansos. The view is great as many have said, and the pool and beach are both wonderful - only hard decision was which one to do first each day. Having the whole family hanging out at the pool for sunset was particularly fun. The beach was great (especially toward low tide). We have 6, 9 and 11 year old kids. They loved the gentle waves and playing in the sand. David at the beach was especially helpful - always went the extra mile to make our time at the beach comfortable and enjoyable - really all the staff at the villa and throughout Tulemar were great, but David was our favorite.
Perhaps the best thing was the wildlife - if you're not looking for it it's easy to miss, but ask around - other guests and staff will be happy to point you toward whatever happens to be around. Within the Tulemar grounds we saw Capuchin monkeys, howler monkeys, squirrel monkeys, both 3 and 2 toed sloths (including 2 3-toed sloths with babies), iguanas, a pair of toucans and all sorts of other birds. If you wake up early, we had Capuchin or squirrel monkeys go through the trees in front of our house most mornings between roughly around 7-7:30. While we enjoyed visiting Manuel Antonio and the town of Quepos, we really would have been perfectly happy spending pretty much all of our time within Tulemar. Overall a great and very unique vacation.

Great Villa - Amazing Views

We couldn't have picked a better place for a family vacation and our first trip to Costa Rica. Diego and Bill made us feel at home, advised us on and made the reservations for our daily excursions to white water rafting, a zip-line canopy tour, snorkeling, and surfing. Nido de Gansos offered incredible views - we could have sat all day and watch the monkeys, sloths, and birds with the ocean and boats in the background. Although the locals commented on the heat, we enjoyed the breeze almost 24/7 through the open air provided by the Villas design. A vacation of a lifetime made even better by the property hosts and natural friendliness of the Costa Ricans we met. A must stay!

Beyond Paradise! Pura Vida

Our family of 6 stayed in Nido de Gansos and what a week it was. This villa had amazing views, pool, three levels and monkeys galore! I'm not going to reiterate how spectacular the resort, grounds, beach, wildlife, flora, amenities, and accommodations are at Tulemar- except they are all truly magnificent. I'm writing this to reiterate how spectacular the people are. All the people we encountered in the Manuel Antonio area were very friendly and helpful. All the employees (and guests) we encountered inside Tulemar took these attributes to another level. From the booking process until checkout we were greeted with kindness, information, and assistance. I can name them all, but there would be too many to acknowledge for there great service, as we received nothing but top notch attention from all. I will, however, say or concierge, Chris, went well beyond our expectations. Before we even met, he had booked our transportation and activities for our stay. We selected some activities and took his recommendations for others and I must say, the ones he recommended were our best ones. Upon meeting Chris, he was super nice and helpful. He booked reservations for dinners at places he recommended and we had some of the best meals (in the states and abroad) within walking distance or a short cab ride from Tulemar. He never steered us wrong. He (as well as the entire staff) truly made our family vacation as easy, stress free, action packed, and the best. Costa Rica is beautiful with great people, Tulemar just takes it to a different level. Can't wait to go back. Thank you Cindy for helping us decide which property. It was perfect!

Pura Vidal, indeed,

Brian
