Thanks for taking a moment to learn about my dream home – The Pilot House. The home is a 5 minute walk to the beach. Perched handsomely on a ridge that overlooks the beaches of Birch Bay, this home makes you feel as though you are aboard a ship. The 25 foot high wall of windows in the living room/dining room look out to the most spectacular, lingering sunsets that the Pacific Northwest has to offer. The spacious Quarterdeck on the main level easily accommodates a larger group for afternoon tanning, evening cocktails, sunset barbeques, or quiet bird watching. There is seated outdoor dining for eight people.
The house is built on three levels. The ground level includes a two car garage which is used as a rec room. You and your guests can play some ping pong or foosball. There is also an extra fridge for beer and cold drinks in the rec room. Up to four regular size vehicles will fit in the driveway. The lower level also has the Bunkhouse. This third bedroom has a brand new bunk bed with a full size/double bed on the bottom and a single on top. This very cute, cowboy themed room is ideal for three kids or a couple with one child. The room has a set of sliding doors that access the ground floor patio and fenced backyard. The fully stocked laundry room is also on this level and is free to use. Iron and ironing board, soap, and fabric softener are all there.
The main level is an open, spacious area for relaxing or entertaining. With cathedral ceilings, an impressive window wall, and all the luxury amenities, you’ll feel on top of the world. The dining table seats six and the breakfast bar seats three. The kitchen includes everything you would expect to find in luxury kitchen -- microwave, dishwasher, disposal, ice maker, gas stove. Small appliances include blender, toaster, coffee maker, kettle, and electric griddle. Soaps, dish towels, all utensils, pots, pans dishes are for your use. Basic spices are available.
The main level also includes a complete bathroom with tub and shower, and the Butterfly room. This bedroom has a queen size bed and is quite spacious should you be bringing an infant or toddler with play pen or change table. You will need to bring your baby’s own sleeping set-up. All other linens are provided.
The Captain’s Quarters are a beautiful bright loft that includes a large ensuite bathroom with spacious walk-in shower and two sinks. Enjoy the ocean view from the tall, super comfortable queen size bed. It is an amazing way to wake-up. Light pours into this room so I suggest you bring a sleeping mask to avoid getting up with the sun. There is an additional seating area with couch and coffee table.
Feel free to do a puzzle, play a game, watch a movie or read a book. Lots of all of these things are here for you. There is full cable television, free long distance calling within Canada and the US, WiFi, and all the other comforts of home. Obviously you didn’t travel to one of prettiest areas on the planet to stay inside, so be sure to enjoy all that the area has to offer.
You are ten minutes from the world class professional Semiahmoo golf course and the challenging Loomis Trail. These are "must play" courses for serious golfers. Farmers markets, antique markets, town fairs and festivals abound throughout the summer season. The area is ideal for cycling or hiking. There are numerous activities both on the land and water but probably the most popular activity of all is inactivity. So if you are looking to chart a course to total relaxation and ease, come aboard the Pilot House.

I'm a mid 40's Canadian guy who has been fortunate enough to buy his dream retirement home a few years early. I live one hour away from Birch Bay, in Vancouver where I own and operate a hair salon in the beautiful neighborhood of Kitsilano.
Birch Bay has a wonderful history of providing some of life's most memorable summer vacations. For many decades, this seaside community has offered a great escape for Canadians and Americans alike.
The reasons will be obvious when you begin to explore the areas beautiful beaches, rolling farmlands, pristine mountainscapes and historical townships.
I chose The Pilot House because when I walked through the door I was instantly enveloped in light, warmth, and peace. This special place has been desribed as a little piece of Heaven and I'm grateful to include in my Earthly life.
Since taking it over, I have strived to turn a custom built executive home into a cozy, casual cottage. I've acheived a striking balance of luxury blended with feet-up comfort. It's a lovely home, but it's also very kid friendly.
Ultimately, it is the ocean sunset view that will stay in your memory a lifetime.
